It’s not really a story about a heroine though, since there’s not much records about the females in historical…
I watch the clips from time to time, I literally find it hard to get past episode 21 in full. I can’t get over how the fabricated love story that they made up for Hongli and step Empress 😂

Awww, i really enjoyed it, maybe because I find Chinese History so interesting, I loved that it mentions the Qing empire quite a bit also, since it’s not long after the fall of the Dynasty..🌸

Exactly, I think this reason is more justified tbh, it actually makes sense even though we don’t know if it’s true but knowing the history of him not choosing her sons to be crown prince’s when it should’ve be done not long after their births would make a woman naturally feel some sort of way, He also didn’t seem to favour her sons/son whereas he favoured Fuca’s children even though the 2 boys didn’t make it for long, he favoured Fuheng’s son also that rumours sparked that it was his bastard son. But to go to the extreme of cursing the Emperor and Empress Dowager by cutting her hair was extreme, she didn’t even consider the implications it would cause her son as the Emperor hated him after that too, I strongly believe she had a mental breakdown as portrayed in Yanxi’s and there had to be good reasons as I said before why even the ED thought Ling should help with the management of the Harem before she cut her hair. I also believe it’s probably why he didn’t take the title when he stripped her rights and had her confined. In Ruyi’s they made it like it was her divorcing him and she died peacefully when it’s said she died of severe depression. Oh I was wondering if Hongli actually had her buried with Chun because they had issues 😂 he was petty so i wouldn’t be surprised if he placed her with her rival.😫😂

Lmao, no the country was running itself based on all the time The Emperor spent stirring up drama 😂. The Emperor didn’t even eat with his consorts unless it was a formal event, half the consorts and concubines barely saw him in history . The Empress only gets to see him once a month ( I need to double check, but I know she doesn’t get to spend much time with him, unlike his favourite consorts at a time. They made Ruyi that way because they’re trying to say that they were lovers before he became Emperor, if it wasn’t for the Empress Dowager, she probably wouldn’t even have become the step empress. The thing is the writers for Ruyi’s had put themselves in a corner because they needed to expand on the story they started ( Empress’s in the Palace) I’m guessing because she’s from one of the Nara clans, they thought it’d be best to make her the niece of the previous Empress and then give her a story with such close relationship with Hongli, not sure why a 15 year old boy would be close to a7 year old but hey😂

I didn’t complete Ruyi’s, I literally just can’t stand the emperor and Ruyi also🤣 At least in Yanxi I don’t completely hate the step Empress but in Ruyi’s she is soooo annoying, she complains about everything the emperor does as if she forgot that Emperors actually had concubines and everytime I see the emperor he’s eating or slurping tea while talking 😂 they made him seem so unintelligent and we know that according to history he was really intelligent

Yes I agree, there had to be more to the reasoning compared to what is shown in Ruyi’s I believe she definitely wanted the Emperor and the empire to be strictly under control, if she didn’t she wouldn’t have a problem with ED and Hongli wanting to make Ling Imperial Nobel Consort, if she was genuine she wouldn’t care about the titles and care so much if her son became The next Emperor or not, that was the difference between her and Ling , Ling’s son was not trained or even expected to be chosen but Hongli secretly chose him because he was hard working and humble, according to the records . He didn’t publicly strip her titles and I think he did it deliberately as she still had the title with no power, that tells me that something seriously happened, some people says it’s because he wanted to take home concubines from the boat trip but even that tells she wanted to control the Emperor because having concubines was also a means to strengthen political affairs. I wish I could travel back in time to see what happened 😂

Ok, if you liked the cast of Yanxi’s Palace then Legacy is also good, it’s got majority of the cast including the actress that played the empress and the emperor, Li yu, and some of the maids etc, it’s set in the 1940’s after the fall of the imperial dynasty.

Omg did you see the way RRLITP made Ling and the Empress Fuca evil? Im so upset about that and they made the Emperor into some crazy womaniser when he actually had the least concubines than most other Emperors . I literally can’t stand the portrayal of Hongli in that show 😂

Yes exactly because the records show he favoured Chun for some time also so they must’ve done something bad, Consort Yu was not favoured but Hongli still was considering making Youngi crown prince ( heir) , he demoted Yu after Younqi’s death because apparently he blamed her for not protecting him after the fire( apparently Yongi saved Hongli from a fire and became sick after) but I think after Yu’s death she was buried in his tomb also , I strongly believe that Step Empress cut her hair for the same reasons being portrayed in this series. Ruyi’s made up a story that they were teenage lovers and he wanted her to be his first wife which is an absolute lie because if Historians are correct she would’ve been around 7 years old when Hongli was 14-15 years old, the documents says she was chosen by Hongli’s father for political purposes, she also wouldn’t even have met the Nara woman that Ruyi’s claimed to be her aunt. Maybe she was like Ci’xi that wanted ultimate power .

No problem, the R’s means Ruyi’s Royal Love in The Palace, Same empire but The story is more widely told and the focus is on the Step Empress, she’s called Ruyi in that series and Wei Yinglou is called Wei Yanwan but, same people different actors and a different perspective on these Historical figures.🌸 let me know what you think if you decide to start watching it.
So sad they had to cut and censor so much of this series. It’s one of my favourite series, wish we got the 94…
Yes I’m upset also, there’s a video on YouTube talking about some of the scenes that were taken out. The storyline of Chenbi was a loooot more, They cut a scene showing Gou and Yinglou’s sister, apparently Yinglou’s sister made the costume that Gao loved so much and Gau tried to protect Yinglou’s sister and because she thought that Fuca killed Yinglou’s sister that was what made Gau hate Empress Fuca, so many interesting scenes were cut. They had to cut all the scenes with Chenbi wearing her traditional clothing etc. we were robbed 😂
this was so vibrant and fun to watch. loved this. plot holes and messy logic included - it was just fun as heck…

heartbreaking. fuheng dies and wei yingluo and him never get to be together...he even resists his servant and…
There’s no way they could’ve made them be together since in reality they probably never even spoke and Ling became Imperial Consort and Empress Dowager after she died in real life 😂. Remember it’s based on real people but with artistic liberties.
Unexpectedly, I enjoyed this drama. This is the 4th c-drama I've watched and the longest one with 70 episodes.…
I loved the palace politics so much because I love History and Qianlong’s reign was by far one of the most interesting and the longest reign in Chinese history so I wanted more of the political side 😂
