Quality over quantity, simple as that! Also, this has nothing to do with the actors. They don't have a say in…
Well, actors can choose not to do shorter dramas. You may be right. Perhaps Park Eun Bin doesn't care about not be paid approximately $600,000. The trend of shorter dramas is going to hurt the workers (actors and crew), unless they can negotiate higher pay per episode for shorter dramas. Quality is great, but if you effect my bottom line too much, I am going to seek a better alternative, i.e. a longer drama.

How is it a short drama? 12 x 80 mns is like 16 x60mns. It is just that each ep better be good so ppl don't get…
12 rather than 16 episodes. potentially a big loss in pay for actors and crew.

After reading this whole thread, I would like to put across a point: it's not that the standard of a k-drama is…
Awesome explanation. And yes, I intend to enjoy the drama. That said, I see a trend toward shorter dramas. Unless the contracts make up for that somehow, I can't help but think everybody loses money. If people are paid per episode, and they are in less and less episodes they must lose money unless there are other perks or raises in appearance fees.

Now we are getting somewhere. First I was under the impression that actors/actresses had specific appearance fees per episode strictly for them, i.e. Kim Soo Hyun earns $500,000 per episode now. Seo Yea Ji is somewhere around $173,000 per episode. Am I hearing you right? Actors appearance fees are renegotiated for every project? That would surely change things. I mean if you ask me to do a 12 episode drama and you pay me more per episode, I could understand that.

if its a good drama i dont think actors care ....some actors care for value more than money....they have lots…
Hmm...Doona, Suzy loses pay for 7 episodes. Mask Girl. pay lost for 9 episodes. Arthdal, pay lost for 10 episodes. Worst of Evil, pay lost for 4 episodes. A Time Called You, pay lost for 4 episodes. A Good Time to be a Dog, pay lost for 2 episodes. Total losses equal minus 36 episodes. Actors lost millions of dollars. How about crew? I don't see this as more dramas, just shorter dramas, with broadcast companies posting dramas only once a week and filling time with specials, variety shows and sports. Everybody is losing except Broadcast companies and production companies. Just my take. Am I wrong? Look at those numbers. If I make $100,00 per episode and you cut my drama by up to 10 episodes, I have lost a ton of money. How many gigs do I have to do to make that up.? Are they even there? I mean, if I work an 8 episode drama, are there 2 more dramas for me too make up the difference? Probably not, therefore; I earn less money this year.

I'm not really seeing more dramas. Are you? I'm seeing filler shows and variety shows. Now, let's look at Bae Suzy. You may say she is rich enough. Ok, so what? Her last two dramas were Anna and Doona. Anna was 6 or 8 episodes. Doona is 9 episodes. So in the two years, she made basically half of what she could have earned for two 16 episode dramas. Anna was good, right? Doona is being said to be not so good. So, Suzy hasn't made up the difference in any way. Big loss. Now, I don't really care about the finances of any individual actor, except for example purposes, but as a trend, it will affect the bottom line of everybody in the industry except the production companies, who will save money.

I would rather they have just enough episodes for the story than to drag a story just so it fits a 16 episode…
I don't care who it is. Losing money is losing money. $800,000 is a lot of money, whoever you are. It is not about getting lowballed. They get paid appearance fees per episode. Cut the episodes, they lose money. And once again, so does the crew!

I am concerned that this is a trend. Fans say its great for them, but they don't think of the big picture. Lets say there are 20 dramas available in a year. They cut them all to 12 episodes. There aren't more dramas. Bottom line, everybody makes less money., not just Park Eun Bin. How about the crew? All of them earn less money too. And they don't have the income that the actors have. Doing something once because it appeals to you is one thing. Turning it into an industry trend is another.

Well, I don't care who you are, losing a half million dollars is a big deal. It's not like they get another gig right away to make up the difference. There are only so many projects out there. The only ones who profit from this are production companies and maybe broadcast companies. Cast and crew always lose out.

I'm thinking of Thirty Nine. Good drama, 12 episodes. But, I think this one could have used 4 more episodes. This one was cruising along and then the ending kinda just happened, seemed kind of choppy. So it can go both ways. Now, Imagine how much money Son Ye Jin was NOT paid for those four additional episodes.

Another short drama. Why do these a actors take these things. They lose a ton of money every time they do. I'll bet Park Eun Bin lost at least a half million dollars. Four episodes equals a lot of money.

It has now been weeks since Gram Entertainment fired back with legal action. Dispatch has gone silent. First they backpedaled, then they shut up. Where is the devastating evidence they promised? Oh right, their whistleblowers were lying.

How ironical! First the director and now this actress turns out to be a part of the school gang who would bully…
Taking action against those who are messing with your girlfriend isn't exactly bullying. In fact, I find it quite honorable.
