TSJ gave up his status to his nephew/ son to be with XY. Both left Xiyan in the end following their marriage.

It won't traumatise you like Goodbye, My Princess. Although this drama has emotional scenes that make me weep.

I didn't weep at all watching GMP. This drama- CX's emotional scenes turn on the water fountain.

There will be another emotional scene when XY returns to Qing Shui Town.

CX is becoming like his grandfather when the latter was young. Ambitious and ruthless.

XY's mother went to war against XY's father after getting her father promised to pass over the throne to CX but the young man never knew about this deal which resulted him losing XY forever with his subsequet actions.

Xiao Yao's mother made CX promise to protect Xiao Yao for the rest of her life because she knew Qi Yo's enemies would come after XY if they knew she was his daughter. So, being an emperor was the only way to protect XY.

CX was never wrong about his decisions and strategists except when he decided to kill TSJ, he had completely wiped out his chance of being together with XY. That's why he chose to let XY kill him even though he was already an emperor.

ZWY sings as if he is reciting a poem. He reminds me of a Confucian scholar when he speaks to the men in the drama.

You should but you'll end up laughing at Qi Yo's haircut when he was young and the Abba theme wardrobe.
Huang Xiao Ming as Qi Yo when he was busy killing his enemies was awesome.
The ending theme song is the best thing from this drama.

Nothing is said about CX but in the novel, it is hinted that Ah Nian would have CX for her entire self for one month when he visited Hao Ling once a year while in his harem in Xi Yan, the concubines rarely saw him at all.

And, with Xin Yue- one day per month. But, following the attempt on XY's life, CX abandoned her completely although he promised FL that he would make sure she was respected as an Empress in his harem in Xiyan.

Ah Nian meanwhile remained in Hao Ling as CX's second Empress who had the equal position as Xin Yue due to her special status.

So, Ah Nian gets a better deal because of her dowry ie. the entire Hao Ling kingdom and her personal relationship with CX. He would always love Ah Nian like his own sister but not the way he loved XY. The latter was his only love.

Xin Yue always sexually provoked CX but he couldn't accept her.

Xin Yue was lucky because FL died saving CX. Her brother made CX promise to take care of her. CX did so.

She didn't have a happy marriage life, TBH.

From the novel, we could tell CX would always favour Ah Nian because they grew up togetherand he had always spoilt her.

She also became more and more like Xiao Yao in the end of the novel. So, CX would have a happier marriage life compared to his grandfather.

I feel for CX. His only wish was to be married to a woman he loved.

He refused to touch her for the first two days following the wedding. On the third day, when she had to throw herself naked to him then only he reacted. He spoilt the intimate session by calling XY's name.

Xin Yue and Feng Long tried to kill Xiao Yao as a result.
