We as viewers see the ML’s love and actions for her but to the FL, she sees none of them. Your perspective is purely from the viewer’s point.

Also, ML has never given her anything. He teases her making her come to him w/ nothing but tease back. The chances that he got to be w/ her, he never did and instead went on other missions that he clearly has no interest in. As a result he lost her forever to another man. Those shoes came too late & he burnt them all. It’s only the recent Ep that he proves to her the extent of his move
& her husband’s abandonment that that gives her another chance to move on.

The moment he left her is the moment they are no longer associated. He already made the announcement to divorce her and left her there forever. She is free to do what she wants w/ her life.

So the spoiler both leads said during the photoshoot is for next episode; thus, the twice marriage as reported on articles. Very interesting route & hardly seen in drama land.

The leading man pretty much confirmed it on his IG when so much commotion at the end of pt1

If u think about, their story has been nothing but sad, so many separations (when war broke out, when he goes to Qing, & the ending separation). Their ending doesn’t have to be sad. Some old aged couples eventually found their way back to each other after the calmness of war.

I blame it on the editing team for ending the series at leading man and the new mysterious woman., it got many people upset. They did such a great job developing leading lady’s character. The OTP were separated the majority of the series despite never being in a relationship, they not gonna abandon leading lady and leading man. So I was not the one complaining.

GC to me is one of the best written leading ladies in the history of Kdrama(whether u like her or not). Already she is shown so much growth w/out changing who she is from the beginning. This mystery guy comes and go how he please, finally return and confess whole heartily, no sane women will drop everything for him. Their attraction towards each other never had a chance and they never did go anywhere. Pt 2 will give them that chance for sure.

You do realize he has been gone for how ever many years who knows and just returned. Prior to that they were nothing yet. How is a girl suppose to give up everything for him? I wouldn’t trust him either especially seeing her growth into womanhood and struggling to raise her families. I consider her words are meant to cut him deep so he doesn’t return and she waiver again.
But the fact they both never got the chance to start anything is more telling their story will continue part2. Most likely more drama like discover the new man isn’t what he is and death of her family made her in the run.

SHe never gotten to know him at all, so her decision is just. That is why their story is not over yet and something that hasn’t start will have an end in part 2.

Agreed. They never were anything in Pt1 and never had a chance to be anything to be consider his “My Dearest.” I have a strong feeling Pt 2 will dive more in their relation and actually give them both time to get to know each other.
