I'm loving it! The cat and mouse plots and romance possibilities, now on episodes 13/14 she is bit by bit changing her feelings. Something that I really like about this drama is that nothing is simple, you can relate to their difficulties, hate and love each character because of different reasons. She should hate Wei Zhao because of all the did to her, he was ruthless in that prison attempt. But she also fells bad and is attracted to him, I understand her.
Ok, finished watching. Some comments: This was very entertaining, you can have a good time watching something not so serious and being curious of what is coming next. I loved the OST, the amount of guqin musics was wonderful. Love the FL, such a cool actress. The other actors are good as well, but I have a special place for her and the 2ML. You can see that it's low budget drama, but they really put some effort, so congrats to the production. It's not a very heavy drama, so it's surprising that some characters actually die, some that deserve it and some that don't as well. The weird thing is the plot, so many things happen, sometimes it was all over the place. It has some interesting things, and some really out of context. Oh, being on the brink of death is a constant. What was unusual is the palace drama become a jianghu story, I really liked that. The end was satisfying, a cool way to finish the drama.
It's a good drama, but it is so repetitive, an eternal cycle of one saving the other. I lost count how many times they were in the brink of death. And the villains are one sided, there is no depth about their motives and how things are planned.
This is so wrong, that makes it interesting. It looks like a mix of The king's woman and Good bye my princess, but I actually hated those, maybe because they are long dramas and have stockholm syndrome. King's Woman is one of the most fucked up dramas I ever watched, I hated all the characters, specially the MC.
Anyway, this one was painful, obsessively wrong and kind of addictive to watch, the best thing are the actors, the MC did a good job.
Richard is on it, it's everything I need. The plot, the other characters and the disgusting emperor are not as good as him. Someone said in the comments that it's weird for He Xuan Lin to make this short drama after being in bigger ones. Girl, I would do any drama just to be Richard's scene partner and kiss him.
I'm on episode 25 and can already say that this is a pretty consistent drama, the actors and production gives it a more serious tone. The plot is good, everything I would expect in a revenge palace story. The costumes are interesting, I wouldn't say they are beautiful, but they have more plausibility to real historical times. The only thing that bothers me is the pace, things take a long time to happen.
Yeah, this is what a great drama looks like, it's amazing. Come watch this when you are looking for a wuxia that the romance it's not the focus, and you will have a blast.
I just add some thoughts to the comment. A lot of things, how everything started it's a huge thing. Makes me mad that she was so clueless when he was using her, he just started to like her because she was so submissive and did everything for him (even with him treating her cold, like she says a lot of times). I have the feeling that he don't like her, he likes how she treated him with so much care, and he didn't deserve it. So, after all, I don't like him, and when he starts pursuing her it gives me the creeps, just leave the girl alone.
Say what you want, but I really don't want the MC together. This is one of those dramas that, contrary to everything, I don't want them as a couple by the end of it. I don't fell it, I don't like the idea of it, and even the scenes where he is pursuing her, and she is controlling herself to not show emotion, makes me think: Girl, no! I don't believe you still like him.
I had a hard time in the beginning and put it on hold. The story does get better from episode 10 forward. The production is beautiful, and I do like the actors, but some characters are just annoying. The story, well, I really like the pendant thing, but the plots are just shallow. The end itself was the best part, it put a smile on my face.
This was a happy surprise. I like pretty much everything. One interesting thing: I watch a lot of wuxia dramas and the filming locations repeat itself. It's refreshing to see a new one, I don't remember watching it before, the paths and the buildings are new to me.
