Title Shine on Me
I suspect our RongRong is following in Green Tea Mistress's footsteps.
I’m not surprised. She hardly have any prospects, and she is far too shallow for anything but material gain to motivate her. She wouldn’t have given ZX a second glance if she hadn’t seen potential in him.

If they follow the book then SnakeRong is riding high on her boyfriend's power.
Honestly, it all adds up—even if he had stayed loyal to Rong (which, given her personality, is about as likely as completing Mission Impossible without Tom Cruise), his mother would have shut that down immediately. There’s no way she’d let someone like Rong into the family, especially with parents as greedy as his. Petty as it sounds, I can’t help but feel a little satisfied that karma came knocking. It’s oddly comforting to know that even the fictional universe keeps its cosmic scorecard. Thanks for the spoiler—I can finally sleep like a baby tonight! 😉

There may still be possibilities. Regardless of the job’s high salary, if one comes from an average background, they might not indulge in luxuries like purchasing new bags each season unless it stems from insecurity or an inferiority complex. Was he manipulating her, or did they marry?

Does she? Perhaps I missed it. So, what’s happening tomorrow? I mean, yes, I saw the preview of NX putting the rude cousin of LYS in his place, but that likely won’t have any impact on Rong.

Because they see him as handsome, brilliant, and passionate. Many people would actually like that kind of guy.…
I would classify this as weak narration. If certain parts are skipped or left ambiguous under the assumption that viewers have already read the novel, then the very purpose of the show is undermined. A series can never fully replicate every detail of the source material, and that is precisely where direction and screenplay must step in to craft a cohesive, engaging experience. I haven’t read the novel myself—not because of ZX—but because, frankly, if not for the leads’ chemistry, the story offers little that feels truly compelling.

FL should be sending thank-you notes to the cosmos for his chronic disappearing act—her life would’ve been a tragic sitcom if they ever got together.

In Rong's case, it's mostly possessiveness. She might have liked him truly in the past since they've known eachother…
Picture this: he actually blames her for missing out—like his fingers have full-blown arthritis, preventing him from even tapping out an acknowledgment to her clarifying message. NX was absolutely right to call him out; he thrived on her feelings, made her an easy target, and poured every drop of his festering negativity onto her whenever he got the chance.

And let’s not give all the credit for NX’s mental spiral to him alone—her so-called friends deserve their share of the trophy. They systematically chipped away at her confidence until she couldn’t string together a few sentences to defend herself. Her university clique? A pit of snakes and jellyfish. In the sacred name of “friendship,” they stood by, pretending Rong’s public blame-fest never happened—then had the audacity to keep inviting NX back into the emotional blender, zero remorse in sight.

And the pièce de résistance? Not a single one of them dared to call Rong out on her snide little remarks. But when it was time to pile on and join the fun at NX’s expense? Oh, suddenly everyone found their voices.

Ha ha, thank you! Honestly, ZX and I got off to a rocky start—I pretty much disliked the first episode. But I naively hoped they’d sprinkle in some juicy backstory as filler, because, let’s face it, there’s not enough plot to stretch all the way to episode 36. Alas, what did I get instead? Another girl confessing her undying love to him while he just stands there, stiff as a lamp post. Classic!

Wow, talk about a one-woman show! She’s basically the star of her own comedy where the punchline is always her. Imagine signing up for a crash course in “How to Embarrass Yourself 101” and then turning it into a full-time lifestyle! Money can’t buy class—she’s practically the walking definition of that proverb. No wonder she’s got zero real friends and is stuck being her own audience of one. So, to keep the illusion alive, she struts around handing out advice like it’s golden… when it’s really just confetti in the wind.

Oh, is that so? Haven’t cracked open the novel yet. Also, completely blanked that she’s clueless about who NX’s boyfriend is. Now I’m perched on the edge of my seat—tomorrow’s episode can’t come fast enough!

Can we all pause for a collective brainstorm on Rong’s attitude? Here’s a girl who’s not just flaunting a designer bag but also handing out unsolicited career advice to NX like she’s the CEO of life itself. Does she even grasp the difference between working for a business and running one?

I’ve seen wealthy characters strut their cockiness, but at least they have the bank accounts to back it up. What exactly has Rong earned to justify being this insufferably rude? Honestly, I’m ready for NX to swear off these so-called “friends.” They’re nothing but a walking, talking cloud of negativity—and it’s a total vibe killer.

Imagine a world full of dramatic characters running around like they’re in a spy movie, convinced the entire universe is plotting against them. Now, in walks our guy. Life basically serves him a five-course meal on a golden platter—metaphorically and maybe even literally—and what does he do? He misses every opportunity and then has the nerve to blame the female lead. Spending five minutes around someone like that would feel like living in a sitcom called “Welcome to Chaos.”

Infatuation? Sure, I get it. But the fact that the female lead actually liked him for so long is a total mystery to me. I mean, to really like someone, they should have at least five genuinely likable qualities—and no, “being rich” or “having nice hair” doesn’t count. Maybe the novel explains it better, but honestly, I don’t have the patience to sit through that saga. My sanity is worth more than 500 pages of his nonsense!

So here’s my gripe: the show keeps tossing in this shallow setup like confetti at a party no one asked for. Why do we need a running tally of how many girls are swooning over the second male lead? For Rong, sure—I get it. That whole misunderstanding fiasco needed a backstory. But the rest of the girl parade? What’s the point? Are we supposed to be dazzled by how every girl is head-over-heels for him, only for him to gaze longingly at the female lead? If that’s the master plan, then wow… the execution is about as graceful as a penguin on roller skates.

I totally agree. Rong probably first liked him because he seemed like a ticket to a better future, and then spiraled into obsession once NX started crushing on ZX. I’m convinced she started seeing him as some dazzling beacon simply because a gorgeous, wealthy girl like NX was into him. Honestly, the makers fumbled ZX’s character hard—characters can be complex without being likable.

I get your point—but as an avid watcher of Asian dramas, I’ve never warmed up to a character who doesn’t have at least a dash of relatability. Even if I set aside his behavior toward NX, I still can’t fathom why any of the girls fall for him. From a purely fictional perspective, the show just keeps telling us he’s brilliant and drop-dead gorgeous—but never actually shows us why.

I can’t buy into a character whose entire appeal is built on a couple of throwaway lines. There’s no visual storytelling or meaningful event that cements his charm. The time the creators spent showing girls swooning over him left and right could’ve been better spent giving us a backstory—some struggles, a glimpse of his inner world—anything to help the audience connect. I get that some viewers might like him as-is, but for me, he’s all surface and no substance.

Oh, I hear you loud and clear! There have been so many male leads in this kind of setup—take Lighter and Princess, for example. But here’s the kicker: it’s not just that he’s the male lead, it’s how he treats the FL that makes or breaks the story. In Lighter and Princess, the FL liking him to the point of almost giving up on her own comfort actually made sense because of his personality and actions!

But here? Nada. Zilch. They gave this poor guy no personality at all. I almost feel like his character was downloaded on 2G speed and got stuck halfway. So yes, I’m putting part of the blame on the makers for giving us a lead who’s basically a good looking (for some) wallpaper.

Can someone please decode the mystery of why these girls are head over heels for ZX? Even the most charismatic male leads don’t have this many fans, not only swooning but also diving into dramatic jealousy games. It’s like someone flipped a switch, and suddenly every girl is smitten with a guy who’s as chilly as a cucumber and has the personality of a dead fish. The director seems to be on a mission to expand ZX’s fan club without giving us any clues as to why!

Yunxi continues to impress… with her lack of impressiveness. She teamed up with some guy without a single thought that it could boomerang right back at her. The “leverage” she was banking on? Pure fantasy. The old lady has been running this family long enough to know Shanbao is the only one remotely capable of taking the reins. Even if the sky falls, she’s not tossing her aside.

I used to think 4th sister had a decent heart, which made her tolerable. Turns out, she’s more annoying than Yunxi—and that’s saying something. Cousin Wan isn’t far behind, proudly competing for the family’s lowest IQ trophy. At this rate, we’ll have a revolving door of random men, because apparently Yang is already replaced.

Meanwhile, Yan and second Yang are shaping up to be the real villains. My money’s on Yan’s obsession out-crazying both Wan and HMX. Current trust standings: ML is the sole survivor. Everyone else, off the trust island.
