i like your interpretation of this and it’s okay if you find it frustrating but i don’t because if you look at her history she grew up with the mindset that she has to stand up for herself and not partner with ppl except maybe chai jing. she’s realistically doing what she wants to and that’s her flaw

imagine losing your mother bcs of a greedy man and not pursuing to have him punished?? she’s too invested in getting her revenge that she’s resorting to being the “villain” or “arrogant”. you can’t expect FL to be all cutesy and sweet when her only family was killed?? this is true character development

love the character depth in this drama, it’s so incredibly well-written, well-executed unlike the other drama that’s airing rn (👀). I love how personal and emotionally complex this drama is for women. Also, I really love how they didn’t portray ML as perfection. I think this one’s probably gonna be in my top 10 list for this year 👀
I was kind of hyped up abt this since we have two great actors, but the ML kinda feels repetitive. In our beloved summer, the FL cut him off and in this drama the ML cuts FL off and then they meet again blah blah. i don’t wanna sound pessimistic or assume anything until we get it but this is just my first impression from the teaser (again, I have nothing against the actors or storyline) 👀
the drama started out great with very female-centric aspects of personality disorder, and I was hoping it would stay this way. but by ep 8 it literally turned into a chaotic mess with all the male protagonists assuming they will heal her or whatever that was. There’s this scene where the three males sit and talk about her illness, it actually made no sense. ML made things worse bcs he left her whenever he wanted and then went back to her when he felt like it. and even until the end, it was more of like him expecting eunho to heal him like??? this is most selfish ML character ever. I know humans are imperfect, but this character felt very unrealistic to me, and I would in no way expect any woman to be in a relationship with him.
The show was fun to watch, really interesting plot with realistic characters. I loved the FL but I was especially drawn towards the character development of the Empress. With FL, her character was already developed and it focused more on her recovering from temp amnesia. The empress’ character was more of being in the shadows and then emerging as a main figures of kingdom and her journey to discovering her own individuality and decision-making, i think her character was truly fascinating to watch.

I think the main reason is probably bcs of the low budget? i liked the acting and storyline but the production budget probably is a let down for this. Nevertheless i think it’s a solid 8 for me
Can we talk about the incredible acting by kiyoung for gwi-joo!! He’s such a great actor. I’m in love with his character! I have been watching his dramas for a long time and I’m so proud of his development. Considering it’s his first drama after enlistment, he has improved a LOT.
ep 14 was so terrible in terms of writing.. the dump truck cameo in germany, eun sung allowed in despite being a non-guardian, I can only rate this ep bcs of their acting. The writer has literally turned eun sung into some dumb villain that makes no sense and appears for no damn reason. It’s becoming annoying now. Also sending hyunwoo to jail was so unnecessary like now it’s just dragging the plot for 2 more eps
Reading all the comments made me realise I’m not the only one rooting for huiju and taeoh lol. You get it! Like a speculation that I had (this is probably out of question since…) taeoh dumps inha or goes against him by teaming up with huiju! Huiju would’ve been a better in main role than just a side character. Nontheless, the storyline is great and I love the direction, the only thing that could’ve made this drama better was FL’s acting. idk it’s very monotonous and underwhelming considering she’s in the main role. I didn’t feel her presence at all or any chemistry as such between taeoh and hyewon. Jae Wook is trying so hard to save that chemistry but the actress isn’t reaching that level. I know it’s not a romance drama, it’s economics and power struggle but if you’re good actor you can convey the chemistry within few scenes, if you can’t handle that, just throw the romance out, it would still make it a better drama, idk, just my opinion
