I think they chose the wrong actress for this role. The QL in the Dinghua was also very childish but she was also quite cute. Not to say that she was right for him in the Donghua, but you can still see the growth progression from her. Her aspirations & ambitions still centred around XS, but a lot of it was for herself. Donghua XS still treat her like a sister but there was a bit more care.

I agree for XS's romance they should have went off the script & just let them be friends/sister/bro only. It would have make much more sense....or let XS & WX be endgame....

His actions keeping her out actions but tagged LWJ along just shows that she is no different from anyone else's to him. But that's not the first time. He always take LWJ as his partner in crime but he rarely willingly take QL unless she whines. But to be fair, it's not like she can help much.

I think the ending was good. Although, I also hoped thar he takes the throne but to be true to his character, he was never after it.

The only thing that I didn't like about the ending is that the storyline forced him to be with QL when she was not a good match for him in anyway. She had no chemistry with him, she had no emotional connections with him nor was she much of a help to him. Even in the end, it was JX who sacrificed her hard earned internal strength to save him. But I guess I was happy that XS didn't forced himself to treat her any different than any other normal friends.

After watching it with proper subtitled, I would say WX understands XS the most. He always know what XS is feeling & what he is conflicting about. As for female companionship, RY understands XS the most. With just one look, she knew that XS needs alone moment with WX.

It's just so hard not to ship XS with WX when they are just so soft with each other & only with each other. When WX said that after settling everything, he will look for them but he only looked at XS.

To me it was a to between XS & LQY. XS was heavily injured but so was LQY. He exhausted his engery during his fight with XS so much that he almost went crazy.

He did BUT he only reappeared in the special episode.

Love & redemption is not similar though. It's Xianxian with heavily on the romance storyline. In fact Romance is the forefront of the drama.

Yeah same feelings. I wasn't that annoyed with QL at the beginning but the more she talked the more I am annoyed. Everything that comes out of her mouth is just so immature. She said she will tie him up & take him away but does she not understand hus status & obligations & weight on his shoulder? She didn't inherit anything from her father. To be fair, I blamed the dialogue on the writers for giving the main FL such childish dialigues. If I was a new actress, I would not take up such role as this because all the negative attentions will be in me.

I think it's really scary to be tge main female lead next to a really good male lead,especially in a male centric drama. If you don't perform well, you will be dissed & remembered as a horrible & boring character for years to come.

I partially agre that the guy stands out. But I wouldn't say all the female didn't stand out. RY is such a unique character. She's weak in health but she's not weak in character strength at all. She's such a great strategic advisor to XS. In fact, she was one of his best allie when they went back to Tianqi and her dance scene with LWJ was one of the better dance scene in cdrama. The young doctor was also a great character. She carried her scenes and her chacter very well. Without her, XS would not have survived. And JX was also a badass female character. She had strength & her brain is filled with knowledgeable info of the jianghu & tianqi. Without her support, XS plan would be 10x harder. The only female that was lacking was QL.

I agree. XS has so much chemistry with WS. I know it's not a "bromance" drama but they definitely have a making of it. Their chemistry & emotional connections were amazing.

Finally finished the drama. XS is definitely & easily my favorite character. He's incredibly smart & strategic. But what i like even more id that he's never overly emotional. Oh my his martial art skills are just so awesome!

I definitely think that his martial skills are above deity at the end judging by his battle with LQY. I would consider that battle a tie. XS was heavily injured but so was LQY. He exhausted so much of his energy that he was about to go crazy.

In some ways I also like his brotherhood with the 2nd prince. They may fight but at the end of the day, they are brothers. They would come to each other's rescue when it comes down to it. As for Prince Chi, he's really just a brat with average skills & just jealous of his talented brother.

I really love the friendship that XS has with the others. They are all so talented ( except for QL). They would die for him any day and so would he. His best friend is definitely LWJ who is always beside XS to protect him. His soulmate is definitely WX and vice versa. Only they can understand & deeply affect each other. RY & JX is definitely XS best female friend. It makes sense because they grew up with each other so they understand his move without much explanations & since they are from prestigious family in their own rights, they are trained & have the influence to support him. I really like RY & JX. They may not be martial experts like LWJ but their brain is amazing. XS always discuss strategic plans with both of them. QL is supposed to be the love interest & by script XS is supposed to show interests but to me it was very forced. It was like XS had to follow the scrip & threw some scraps here & there for formality sake. Their chemistry is non-existent. QL role has no impact in XS life or decision. She's not smart enough to provide insight or even enough for XS to discuss strategic plans with her. While her martial art is not bad but fall far behind LWJ & even more so XS. Most of the time & to more dangerous situation, the person XS always take is LWJ. It was QL who keep existing on going so it's more like he was just indulging her because she insists. She doesn't have a lot of purposes in the story or in XS life. Even to the end the way she talk is still so childish.

XS definitely has the making of an awesome king, and definitely his father's favorite. The way his father indulged him & create future opportunities for him should he changed his mind is just so cunning. XS definitely takes after his father in that aspect. His aura when walking up to the throne is just so regal & leave the others no doubt about his skills or worth of the throne should he want it. But I also like that his 2nd bro didn't play dirty when he could have. In the end XS gave the throne to his brother who wanted it more.

If you are picturing someone timid or weak then no need to worry. He had plenty of other skills that others depend on it more so than them saving him. But they do because they loved him. He's still very lucky that he has so many friends with awesome skills that could help him such as WX, LWJ, TL, RY, MF, XLC & JX.

I think it's partly because he also knew deep down that he's the favorite son.

Who won the battle between XS & LQY?

I'm in the minority but I really wanted him to take the throne. He was obviously meant for it. There's a reason why he was chosen.
