My main grip is: the cast, the budget and the setting is all here for a great wuxi but for some reason the bad script got approved. There are glimpses of a great movie level wuxia drama and it uses that to mask the underlying problem of bad writing.

The inconsistency is in your face. In the fight scenes, you can tell Zhan Zhao uses kill moves where if the opponent didnt move out of the way with their own skills, Zhan Zhao's move was deployed to kill and would have killed the opponent during the fight, yet when Zhan Zhao wins the fight and is given the opportunity to kill his opponents he doest and let them go. I dont understand how you dont see that, you seem pretty level headed from all the comments I've seen you address.

yes, I wanted to be good, this show had so much potential - the cast, the fight scenes, the budget but the writing is atrocious.

Wrote him to be this all powerful jianghu archetype while also use the script to make him impotent. Its pretty frustrating when its the same: cant kill bad guys, let bad guys walk away and kill others, gets badly hurt and waiting for plot to heal ML, rinse repeat.

You are correct, this show is boring. All it has are the fights scenes. The script is just trash.

Great fights scenes, superb cast, the story and writing is very slow and uninteresting. Im fast forwarding half the down time. A warrior of "justice" in this show is very off. If he is that strong, it means he had to have killed before but he doesn't kill at all.

8.2? wtf, I swear the score was higher. I love this one. Didnt even realize rebirth was the sequel. 9 years, I dont remember much just that it didnt have an ending and I was fuming.

its not about accuracy, its about popularity relative to other people, enjoyment level of the actor relative to other actors. how they stack agains each other. He isnt bad but clearly when a good actor shoots to the top, there is reason and he is consistently not one of them.

Look at all his shows, nothing in the high 8s. That speaks volume.
