He's goody two shoes ...... I hate his character. He knows that Xu guy / his senior taking bribes doing crimes, Cui family's pearl slave system . As an civil servant and emperor's close man he did absolutely nothing about these . Even he's struggling to keep the Cui ledger which is given/(spoon fed) by Yan Zi Jing. Only thing he's good at is poetry writing 😕 and bullshiting about legal justice.
ZJR's bodygard could have easily stopped Duanwu's mother's killer . But ZJR let him go .......if he really wants to give legal justice to everyone why don't start a revolution to ban slave system ........ Cui family wouldn't have let Duanwu go if Yan didn't set fire there ....... ZJR is much more annoying than Cui girl .

The novel is incomplete....and as both ML and FL suffered enough I think most probably they will give it a Happy Ending , if not then at least open ending . Let's enjoy Duan Wu's growth and journey from nothing to something..........and the FL is Zhou Lusi so I'm definitely hoping for a satisfactory ending.

Steward Cui is originally from Yan clan . He used to work for Yan's aka Yan Zi Jing's family . But he betrayed Yan clan , killed ml's mother and joined Cui's clan .
