That's great , welcome to the ORV community ! 💗 I started with webtoon and couldn't wait more so I read the novel , lol. If you love to imagine and reading you should read the novel but if you prefer visual understandings more start with the webtoon ! ( The art is good and webtoon really justified the novel, but it's ongoing ) There are constellations [the actual plot and their comments are the most fun part] , Dokkaebies [star streamers] , gods , demons many things in novel/webtoon [Sadly the movie will not include these] .

Read it , you will never regret. You can try reading the webtoon first . It can be boring at first for some readers . (I got hooked around ch 13-15) But trust me ORV is not just about action or power up . It's complex ,deep . It's about friendship, enemy to ally , psychological trauma , emotional bonding and much more . It has insane world building, ultimate fantasy , mythologies, different countries, Japan-Korean relations and many more things. characters have their own backstories, character development .And it makes us readers to question about ourselves and society...and ORV is one of my favorite novel and favorite webtoon. our main protagonists are - The reader , The Writer and The Protagonist .

The novel has guns. Like prisoners with Dokja's mother used guns . But they were magic guns and either you need to obtain them as scenario rewards or you need to have a fable of gun fightings . And at the starting of ORV Joonghyuk used his fists to fight lol . So , yes having guns instead of swords is a great deviation from the plot. And guns dont work well against monsters either.You need to buy bullets too (waste of coins, I don't know if they sell bullets in system either, as the novel is focused on swords mainly) . Not to mention Joonghyuk and Jihye are the best sword fighters in ORV.
FYI , ORV world is maintained by constellations and Dokkaebies. society fall in ORV world cause human was unable to use modern technology. And sword aura and even bow-arrows are more powerful than guns cause the support of historical constellations and you need stigmas and fables . So, you can't use guns as long as your supporting constellation is a gun fighter or you have a fable of guns . So , it's utterly ridiculous that they added guns instead of swords .
Watched the teaser and I'm really disappointed. Where are swords ?! And why do they have guns !? .... LMH really doesn't suits as YJH. And where are Dokkaebies? Bihyung !? Feels like korean version of Alice in Borderlands.
