Judge it by yourself
People's are judging it pretty quickly. Initially I also didn't liked how the story. I thought it's gonna be classic trope of inner court family fighting drama. But now I wait for new episode everyday. The things I lked about this drama are :1. Leads are very understanding of each other. They support each other and don't get in each other's way.
2. Fml's character is consistent. She take good decisions, like in some dramas fml's are shown smart initially but as the episode progress fml starts relying on ml, but here it is not like that.
3. Some people might find fml voice annoying. I also found it annoying at start, but now it does not bother me at all. So as the story progress you will get used to it.
4. Both leads have their unique storyline & they don't overshadow other couple.
5. Leads resolve their misunderstanding quickly.
6. There is no sml syndrome. Fl straightly draw a line with sml although there is a reason why fml does it.
Please give it a try. You may skip initial 2 episodes if you don't like concubine trope.

Not worth the time
Don’t watch it. It is absolutely not worth it. Even by the end, I could not figure out what genre they were aiming for—was it horror, psychological, or romance? The entire story revolves around Mu Hee’s belief that she can never be loved and her tragic past. I despised her uncle and aunt throughout the series, only for the ending to reveal that everything was merely a delusion. That delusion turning out to be her mother made things even more confusing, especially when they showed her supposedly romancing Ho Jin at the same time. Nothing made sense. The sheer number of misunderstandings in this series is unbearable. I have lost count, and they did not even spare the second lead. On top of that, the second couple’s romance came completely out of nowhere. It felt like the writers suddenly decided to include second leads and forced a romance without any proper development or thought.
I watched this drama after a long break, and now I feel like taking another long leave from dramas altogether because this one emotionally exhausted me. They wasted four to five entire episodes just showing the characters sorting out their feelings, finally deciding to express them—only for yet another misunderstanding to appear like a plague. I had been rooting for them to get together for what felt like centuries.
Overall, this drama left me extremely frustrated and mentally drained. I could not make sense of half of what was happening. I definitely do not recommend it unless you want to frustrate yourself to the point of exhaustion.

Currently finished watching 6 eps. It was really funny. Ost lyrics was so hilarious and 2x -3x dying scene got me laughing so hard. There is also a lot of meta jokes and hidden references to some dramas. I really enjoyed it. I am loving fml's acting so much. For me supporting characters actings are really important. They tend to irritate me a lot. But here supporting characters acting are also good and they are also really funny. So far fml's character is consistent. I hope they don't change it. Drama is very novel coded. Like how I imagine novels transmigrated fml's to act. Overall I am enjoying everything. Looking forward to upcoming episodes. Was this review helpful to you?
Definitely one of the best
Story of Kunning Palace succeeds largely because of its strong performances and mature storytelling. The male lead and the second male leads deliver standout acting, each bringing distinct personalities and emotional depth to their roles. Their restrained expressions, calculated dialogue delivery, and shifting loyalties make the political tension feel authentic. The supporting cast also deserves recognition, as even minor characters contribute meaningfully to the palace power struggles rather than feeling like background figures. One of the most interesting aspects of the story is that both the male lead and the female lead are openly toxic characters. They are manipulative, strategic, and morally ambiguous, which makes their relationship believable and compelling—they truly match each other in ambition and temperament. This dynamic sets the drama apart from more conventional romance narratives.
The theme of second chances in life is central to the plot. The female lead’s rebirth allows the story to explore regret, accountability, and the desire to rewrite one’s fate. Combined with intense political intrigue, shifting alliances, and carefully planned schemes, the narrative remains consistently engaging. Notably, the male lead breaks away from traditional archetypes: he does not rely on martial arts or physical dominance, but instead excels through intelligence, foresight, and political scheming. This emphasis on strategy over force strengthens the drama’s overall realism and depth.

Favolous
This is definitely one of the best kdrama ever. Sounds like bragging but the acting, the storytelling, the direction, the visuals everything is top notch. This is a type of drama that will keep you hook up for 2-3 days straight. I dropped everything just to finish the drama. It's also doesn't lack in thrilling. Still considering whether to watch or not? Just give it a try until 4 episode. Was this review helpful to you?
