In my eyes she is willing to let go bsc her Father death (which mean everything to her) and her mother's leaving her behind for another family in that point in time is more important. She is a teen that time and yes she like SY but I don't think you can consider that love.
People handle issue in two ways in life. Face it or avoid it and WYF is the latter she literally ran away from all her issue bad or good after all the abuse live in what she also mention a place where she actually made no memories there at all rather was harassed at work there too
Does SY deserve to be treated like that HELL NO. That said in this drama perspective he is just a loser in love and cant let go. Does he deserve an apology OF course when they are tgt in the drama.
In real logical sense he just have everything going for him so that he can have plenty of time to think about a lady that broke her promise without knowing why and got all the money to fly to Yihe to stalk her every now and then.
Life does not work that way why people like seeing this type of guys bsc 0.1% in the world maybe and privileged bunch of guy only can do what SY did.
Imagine SY has family issue or bare responsibilities to take care of the family etc. Then he won't have time to think of WYF too but he does not. After going in UNI got a GOOD friend in SH and DJX as well.
I love this drama as a drama but in reality not many can have good life while studying hard and good face to boot that good life with good career without issue growing up and supportive parents.
In turn i actually understand WYF more not SY who suddenly just because the drama put SY in such a sad state going after a lover WYF suddenly become the bad one.

It is true that is mediocre, that said those scene combine with her getting her birthday celebrated after 8/9 years bring more meaning to her. She witness birth > death > present (SY) I feel these scene are meant to let WYF think to cherish the one closest to her and the one that cherish her not just pushing them away but they convey the scene very mediocre.
As in same EP she open up to chasing SY, Told her best friend that she is chasing him and like he best friend said although they are close she never once told her anything so private ever in which she is happy. Then open up to the only person colleague that really supported her in office (beside the another guy). Showing that she indeed start to cherish this people more rather than pushing everyone away.
ML did nothing but loved and cared for her and all FL did was felt butterfly when she was down and cried a few…

Like the guy apart from being very loyal and hurt by her word after what he did for her like you said she totally knows how she hurt him as she also likes the guy too in the end of the day. The guy have a much better live than the lady.
Good family, friends that still stick with him till working era, only thing does not go for him is him finding love. That is not something i feel you can put blame on the FL the heck?

Unfortunately I think, the early EP i think for novel readers only and those who are obsess with the novel wants 1:1 adaptation kind its kinda meh in the start seen some of the review there which there is some truth to it. The story really starts to pick up from EP5 - 9 then 10-16 now is the best time of the drama. So i feel those watching only for 1EP to 5 its easier to get out.
As much as i want it to be successful in China. I can see it not happening too haha. China is just China similar to some of the intl audience they can even see ZRN as WYF as an issue not matching the "beauty" standard of the novel then downvote it haha.
To me I will enjoy the show while its here. Sad that it maybe hard for the lead to work tgt in the future (maybe) but its a modern romance drama that I love since a long while. I think the last drama modern romance that I really love is Forever and Ever partly because how happy i was seeing the drama after One and Only. That is in 2021 hahaha.

A lot of people commented on this the supporting cast. I mean I don't mind them but the lead are too good in comparison like either of the lead are no in picture the drama become just a drama I will watch it but its just there. I can empathies with that grandad dementia as my dad has it too. its tough.
I also understand if the drama follow novel only with just focusing on them two the drama would end in like 20 EP. I do wish they added more lovely scene for he two main actor not just extend on the supporting cast.
From the comment I can see that a lot people don't really drama i mean, of course the drama can do better. Exploring diff type of topic making the supporting cast more meaningful rather than extension but the novel itself is a slow burn. I love the novel and now the drama that said maybe its this generation now where attention span of all the shotform video haha.

that said to rate fairly till now the LEAD are CARRYING the drama with their sweetness and sadness. The OST are all very good too. Only thing is really the supporting i never skip but holy the moment any of the lead are not in I am so anticipating and more anticipating them TGT hahaha 8/10 for me currently due to supporting cast plot really for extension
