As a manga reader, this comment section is so funny to me. After consuming Japanese content for 20 years, I learned to expect stuff that varies from the most unhinged to the most wholesome. This series is really tame in comparison to what you can find with a student/teacher tag. From the first episode I could tell it was adapted from a Shounen Ai manga, that’s why I was sure they wouldn’t have a relationship before Toki’s graduation.
I can watch or read anything while still maintaining my moral standards intact, but I understand what doesn’t bother me can make others uncomfortable. We all have different life experiences, after all. However I don’t understand those people that saw the tags and still watched the whole series while complaining till the end about the student/teacher or minor/adult relationship. Why do you do this to yourself?
Anyways, the show was carried by Rintaro and his wholesome depiction of Toki. He put a smile on my face every time he was on screen. Can’t wait to see him more in the future.
Guys Yeonwoo reminds me so much of TXT Soobin…some of his expressions are also same…so cuteee
He looks like Soobin’s little brother (even if he’s older). I’m not even a MOA and everytime I see him I have this sense of dejavu. Sometimes it’s distracting, I’m like “where have I seen this kid before???” but I think it’s just because of Soobin lol
I blame myself for that replying to the trolls 🤦♀️😭Wasn't worth my timeSorry some of us ruined it…
Unfortunately the negative comments are so eye-catching because they are the ones with the most replies. So it’s better to just ignore them and focus our attention on the positive ones ❤️
Now that the show is over, I have to say it. To those who post comments just to hate on a show/actor: Why? What is your deal? To those who keep on feeding the trolls: You are part of the problem! Why do you care so much if someone posts a negative comment?
The people who engaged in fanwars ruined the comment section for me. I had to stay away for most of the show because it was ruining my experience.
Last year I watched Tale of the Nine-Tailed, Destined with You, Moon in the Day, The Story of Park's Marriage Contract and My Demon just ended. They are all romcom with a fantasy element. They all have the same “they couldn’t stand each other before falling in love”, “past life connection”, “one has to die for the other to live” tropes (+ something I just noticed, “at least one of the leads is an orphan”, I don’t know why they always have a miserable past these poor characters). In my watch list I have My Roommate Is a Gumiho, My Man Is Cupid and Doom at Your Service. I’ll take a wild guess and just assume they are not any different. Since they all have the same basic plot points, what sets them apart from one another are the executions of the tropes, the actors and their chemistry (let's be honest, we are all here for the romance).
I think My Demon did an ok job, not enough for me to rewatch it any time soon though. It started to lose me around episode 11/12 and I ended up skipping a lot for the remaining episodes. I think I would have liked it more if they focused on Gu Won signing contracts, because I didn’t care much about the murder mystery plot line. The biggest twist was Joo Seok Hoon not being evil lol. One thing for sure, on my second rewatch I’m going to skip anything related to the second couple and to Jin Star.
Perfect characters are so outdated, no one finds them believable anymore... seems like we prefer broken ones,…
At this point they should have made him an orphan, at least he would have had an "interesting" past and it would have been an excuse not to show his family. Now I'm curious to know if it's the same in the novel, maybe he's a more complete character there. With Cdramas I'm always asking myself if some choices are made by the writers or if they were a result of censorship 🙄

Agree with everything you said. I was actually waiting for her to meet his parents. I thought they would bring a little drama by being the stereotypical strict parents but they never showed up. Also it was a little weird how they never showed him meeting both her parents officially, like he did with her grampa and her 151 cousins 😅
ML is a doctor, professional voice dubber, and apparently a chef all at the same time... plus his perfect personality…
Too perfect even for a fictional character lol The way he cooked 10 dishes at the speed of light wearing a full suit without getting dirty was the thing that triggered me the most
Only complaint I have (I never thought I’d say it), ML is too perfect. They made him so flawless he doesn’t have a personality. I don’t know why it really bothered me, some of my favorite romcoms (especially cdramas) have MLs with the greenest of flags but this one was really too much for me.
But having said that, the romance was really cute and I really liked the FL (and the actress). Also, I was really fascinated by the voice dubbing industry, Chinese traditional music and Chinese food. The performances they’ve shown were really beautiful.
I am at 1:59 of ep 4 and I paused twice already. When ep 3 ended with him in the baby’s body I knew the next episode was going to be tough, but when they were in the car and the radio was talking about child abuse my anxiety went even higher. Then she started screaming and I had to pause to understand what that meant. It took me half an hour to press play again but I had to pause when she threw him on the couch. I realized Yi Jae is helpless this time because the baby can’t defend himself. I just hope it’s going to be quick. I might have to skip until it’s done
New is so cute and Tay is so handsome. Everything is right with the world 💜 Can’t wait for next episode. I’m so happy I remember nothing about the Japanese adaptation so my brain won’t compare the two.
If I have to find something negative about it, sometimes I couldn’t tell how much time passed between scenes and it confused me a little, other times I wished we saw something happening instead of just hearing about it. I don’t know if it was done on purpose, maybe to focus on other important things because there was not enough airtime. But overall it was a wonderful drama. The chemistry of the group of friends was the highlight, for sure. Going right away to watch season 2 💜
I dropped this after episode 1, reading these reviews is entertaining enough so thank you.
I'm allergic to cringe. It was tough getting through this episode and I don't think it will get any better 😬 but I'll keep reading everybody comments! They are hilarious 🤣

What’s your favorite romocom with a fantasy spin?

ed: it was not quick enough
Can’t wait for next episode.
