This episode shows how ZYC had to deal with the villagers, who once worshipped him as the hero and now as the loathsome demon and also how he handled Li Lun.

They did not know that but that was the best way to deal with the situation.
They also could not leave ZYC on his own.

The idea is to have Ao Yin shapeshift in front of ZYC.
Defeating her could result in backlash if the demon did not change and ZYZ will be accused as the evil one by those villagers.

Talking to a childish adult is similar with talking to a wall.
Li Lun's truth is his own version only.

Li Lun might be a great demon with power as great as Zhao Yuanzhou but he will never be on the same level as his ex friend.

LL was evil and childish altogether.
He killed innocents without any remorse and instead of realising that was why ZYZ could not be his friend anymore, he blamed ZYZ for loving human realm.

A fool who was fooled by the human he hated and still did not punish WZ since he was too focus in punishing ZYZ.

He tried the trick to Zhou Yichen. Trying to lure ZYC to his side after making him a demon and hurting his feelings with cruel words.
ZYC response was so satisfying, must feel like slaps to the foolish LL.

I cannot wait to see LL end and hope that prod will give an epic excruciating last breath and not a redemption.

This drama also tags mystery as its genre.
When there are unexplained scenes in the episodes, they are meant to be explained in the later episodes, after the answers are revealed. That is how the mystery genre works. They are not plot holes, unless they remain unsolved at the end of the drama. The plotline can be confusing for romance genre lovers.

ZYC elder brother always kept the sword with him, since he was the eldest of Bingyi and was entitled to 'own' the sword but he was not strong enough to awake the Cloud Light Sword's great power till his death.
The sword turned blue because it detected the great demon with overpowering malicious energy passing through

As for weird 'draggy or snoozefest' comments, I suppose they were made by fans who wanted to watch the story on their own paces and choices.
The plotline has been executed accordingly. ZYC's past with the sword is as important as any other scenes, including the next scenes about Lord YingLong and Lord BingYi.
Some people are just too impatient and acting like they know better about what scenes to air and what story should be prioritised than the writer and production of this awesome drama.

It may look draggy but the flashback is actually as important as other scenes.
Not all descendants of Lord Bingyi can actually own the sword as BY did, not even ZYC's brother.
The past showed how special ZYC was.
And that strong mind and special character will decide what he will do in the future, when the demon blood of his ancestor is consuming him.
IMHO.

Maybe it is just me but I would like Ying Lei and Pei Sijing to be the second couple.
They have opposite characters that would complete each other.
He was honest with a warm heart, kind and a dork. Have tons of ideas and reckless.
She had secrets and appeared cold, discipline and always planned ahead everything.
He will be a great mountain god and she will be a loving lover, living a happy life together and finally let her 'brother' rest in peace.
I have never seen them as a possible couple and they might never be but episode 24 gives me hope.

My first and foremost couple will always be the adorable ZYZ+WX

But it would be better if they stick to this week calendar with a fast track like other dramas.
