TBOY is awesome!
For one reason I postponed watching but once I watched it, I could not stop.

I totally have no idea how they selected the cast members.

My 2 cents is, production prolly thought it did not matter, the age of the actors/actress, as long as they can act out the characters and make up can do the finishing.
E.g. the actors who play Wuxin (17) and Tang Lian (23) are both 34 but they make the latter way older with makeup.
IMHO.

I am a big fan of happy ending too.
But I cannot wait for TBOY2 since I love Xiao Se and Sikong Quanluo.
I also want to see what will happen to Wenxi next.

I only watch the drama, not reading the novel but I read someone wrote something about the creator is having a 'writer block' so we may have to wait a while for TBOY2.

Yin Louxia was the one of Beili's most beautiful women. Fairy Louxia. In TBOY, she was in her forties, a gorgeous senior.
Tbh, I did not really pay attention to her visuals in DY until you mentioned this.
She is a beautiful actress but the stylist made her look less attractive than her actual self in DY. IMHO.

Wenjun got married with Roujin and had a son, Xiao Yu.
Then Ye Dingzhi abducted her (she actually willingly went with him) and they got married and had a son, Wenxi.
Xiao Yu was 2 years older than Wenxi.

Wenjun went back alone to the palace because she was tricked into thinking that Xiao Yu was severely ill.
Ye Dingzhi thought that he was betrayed by her for living in the palace

Ye Dingzhi brought 5 years old Wenxi with him when he attacked Beili and fought against Baili Dongjun and friends.
He lost the fight and heavily injured.

Before Dingzhi died, Wenjun came to see him and told him that they should escape to Nanjue and away from the disputes.
Dingzhi said that he had done many wrong things and cannot just leave and only his death can protect his peers.
Then he committed suicide.

The 5 years old Wenxi was then raised by Abbot Wang while Wenjun remained at the palace with her oldest son.
Wenxi stayed in Beili for 12 years as the hostage.
He was 17 when he met with Xiao Se and others.

Tang Lian is 23. Xiao Se is younger than him, so probably 19-21. Sikong Quanluo maybe 17-18.
Lei Wujie and Wuxin are likely the same, 17.
Only Tang Lian and Wuxin's ages are the clear ones tho.

Yes, Xiao Chuhe, the 6th Prince is older than Xiao Yu, the 7th prince.
There is a child actor playing little Xiao Chuhe in the guest actor list.
Xiao Chong, the 2nd brother must have been born too.
Maybe we can have little Xiao Chuhe screen time because he is the emperor's fave child and has interaction with him.

Not everyone has the same fave genre.
My friend even stopped watching after she found out that the 8 young masters are not the main cast, since she love their fighting scenes (with handsome face at it).
You can give TBOY a try.
It has less romance than DY.

Tips. Stop if you fall asleep watching the 5 first episodes.
Watch what makes you excited.

We surely need to watch the whole 40 episodes of DY to know more.

But one thing I know from watching TBOY for so many times is that Prince Langya wants power for protecting the people and not to be the emperor.
His son also said that just like his father, he did not wish to be an emperor either.
All is probably talks or opinions but as for him wishing to be an emperor, I could not even find a single conversation about it.

Let us continue watching DY for more answers and loving both dramas, despite our differences in viewing the storyline.

That Roufeng is with small and great kindness.

Xiao Ruofeng is like Beili's guardian angel, loved and respected by the people, his masters, seniors, juniors and friends.
That is why Xiao Se is smart and originally kind (even pretending not). He was raised by his uncle.
Roufeng's son is a good person too.
