Strange drama. Lately I have been in a pretty bad mood. And this one... I got more depressed with every episode, idk, it's interesting but so depressing somehow. The acting is great, the chemistry is brutal, but... You have such a bad feeling after watching it. And that damn ending, gosh, no, I'm never going to watch this again.
It's a really unique drama, but unfortunately 70+ episodes is still a lot. And the writer's imagination was ultimately limited, as many aspects were repeated. I especially find it hilarious how they keep repeating the same phrases in almost every episode, like "If this gets out, our reputation will be ruined" and stuff like that. Or how these evil mistresses keep showing up, they're all the same. The closer you get to the end, the more you realize that the writer is exhausted. Still, I'll give it a 10/10 because I watched most of it without skipping a single scene and because it's really an extraordinary quality story. But 70+ episodes is just too much.
10/10 waiting for season 2 (2024). Everyone wants an original cast, so there is hope that there will be an original cast, but Sung Zuer and this investigation regarding her... It's a bit worrisome.
10 extra episodes that are only available to vip (wetv) are worth watching as well (tthey don't affect the understanding of the story in any way, but they're just funny.)
You guys are overreacting to FL. She is spoiled, which makes sense, but she is not that annoying imo. Instead, everyone wants this to be a BL... Again. Uh-oh. Everyone sees what they want to see, though again I don't understand why...
Towards the end the story got rushed in my opinion, but overall a very good drama. The level of sweetness and cuteness is amazing. FL is adorable, doesn't annoy me. ML's acting is flawless. 9.5/10
I have to say, though, that the subtitles are terrible. So if you're not used to bad subtitles or don't know at least a little bit of Chinese, it's going to be tough.
I also came to believe that ZYJ is quite good at acting.
Too bad season 2 is unlikely to ever come out, but since there's a novel, I can always go and read it.
And here is the main problem with Chinese dramas once again. Adapted from a web novel, and I presume the web novel is quite lengthy. The author keeps writing, endlessly writing. A rather common issue. They write too much and have no sense of moderation.
This could have been a good drama if there were only 30 episodes.
But with 60 episodes...
It's dreadfully boring, especially with a plot that keeps going downhill.
I liked first 30 episodes, but it's a real challenge to finish all 60 episodes.
It was good in the beginning, but quickly became average. Too many secondary couples. At a certain point, I got the feeling that the supporting actors were taking up a lot more screen time than the main actors. A lot of things are exaggerated or not really make sense.
While the male leads may have a relationship that could be called "brotherly," many people say, "BL! BL!". If two people are not blood related but act like two good brothers, it's not BL in any sense.
My personal opinion, of course.
But I feel like nowadays in any drama I see, If a man touches another man (gives him a friendly hug for example), some people already say that this is a BL. Like, why...?
This drama somewhat reminded me of My Heroic Husband which was my first drama, and I liked it very much, but this one is so much sillier lol. It's alright, I guess. You have to be in a right mood to watch this, though.
This is harem, by the way. And well, I don't like harems.
Like, he's got two wives and a bunch of girls running around.....
It's kind of annoying.
Wives, too. With one, I didn't understand when and how he had feelings for her. But she got so much screen time.
Unfortunately, there isn't much chemistry between the characters.
I only liked the relationship between him and Liu Xin Yu, but she somehow didn't get much screen time.
So...
The ending is ridiculous as well
This is not to be taken seriously, but even on a non-serious level......

I am still watching, though.
Chulan's character development takes too long, so you can get tired of watching those cringe scenes and the endless crying of the main character.
But when he gains a little bit of intelligence and courage, it gets really interesting.
The drama is a little different and a little better than donghua. but the problem remains the same.

In my opinion.
If you use the same methods, you're no better than the people you're taking revenge on.
You say they are bad for killing, but you yourself kill them just as brutally.
In this story, though, no one is trying to become a buddha. So it doesn't really matter.
It's just a revenge story. One of the best I've ever seen.
