If they didn't market it as S2 to FBS at least they wouldn't be compared in terms of quality. I never hate on show because of young cast etc.,I actually loved Magic Star which is probably cheapest show ever made.
But differences in quality of production and cast between the 2 shows is just so drastic I just can't help myself to hate on it. Also, from what I heard they had more money than FBS. I don't know how it happens.

There is an extra pursuer for each. They cause a bit of trouble but it's always clear they are not competition for either ML or FL as far as romantic interest is concerned.

As far as relationship goes they are courting from first to last episode. As for dignified, well, he is as dignified as a man courting a good woman can be. There's no obsessiveness , clinging or anything emotionally extreme emanating either from ML or FL. Generally very believable, mature and quite light-hearted.

Anyway, I don't think there's any cringe factor as far as ML & FL is concerned. SML is another story.

Literally everyone including himself and his father emperor knew it had to be him to ensure stability in the country. He even says so himself that his dream was impossible.

If you like JOL enough to rewatch it I'm not sure why you'd have hard time with this one. To me it feels like what relationship be like if someone spread Feng Xiao and Haitang Duo Duo arc over 40 eps.

As far XK, that's just 2nd set where I didn't feel "meh". First time watching JT and I think she's fantastic here.

But if first 3 EPs didn't engage you. The other probably won't either.
