well i cant judge really it's a very grey situational area so everyone's perspective matters to some extent (some just wouldn't have experience of anything yet). but i agree it does feel like there's a trend to stigmatize/undermine professional homemakers' role.
well theme in both is completely the same, and the name is appropriate. but i'd say it was just easier to translate.…
agree. an the name is short unlike the "don't look now we are being shot at" and google gives correct results for it too. but admit if it didn't come up now i would google it as "the great escape french comedy". it finds it too 🤣

I've added a bit about him being boring.
In any case even if he wasn't rich it's common for people to be ina situation where couples schedule doesn't align or they'd see each other rarely say shift work, long commute times or need to travel a lot. Having sufficient spendable income tends to compensate s lot.
Again "smooch" is not a great word to use in this context. If for all security he provides you need to make a cup of tea and a cheese sandwich but to him if it's done at the right time is worth all the money and feels like an equivalent exchange then nothing smoochie about it

40 year old rich man.. who is always busy..as in never around. assuming he provides ... i really wonder who would want to do that? there's actually great line there "he is rich and handsome. a lot of women will tolerate his being annoying"😆 but seriously labeling him as boring is weird. when he was spending time with photographer neither of them looked bored.
Watched the first 2 episodes its alright. Yes hes quirky and narcissistic, but no way somebody at 38 could not…
he probably did his introspective in his late 20s and said you know i'm going to be a single rich narcissistic prick for the rest of my life. if it wasn't for that pesky neighbor who dragged in all those new relationships and extra concerns he'd happily carry on like that for another 10 years. in any case there's a world of difference between 30 & 38 so another introspective was probably coming up anyway.

my bad. yeah the plot is completely different. by the look of it my memories of TGE got merged with 3 or 4 other films from that time. in TGE they didn't spend much time in the wilderness.
anyway, you're right just throwing in "the great stroll" would've been better.

yeah i've seen it many times, still have a vcr tape and i think the theme is the same . though i wouldn't go as far as to say that it's a parody of "the great escape" but i often thought so. "the great stroll" is not its real english name that's why i said it's difficult to decide whether it makes sense to use direct translation or the british name. but yeah i agree genre is completely different.
by theme being the same i mean nothing else other than that a group of people have to make it through france to get back to their own people. not the specifics of whether being just shot-down and in hiding or mechanics of escaping from prison etc.,
They keep saying (or is it a bad translation?) that the movie is The great escape but it's La grande vadrouille…
well theme in both is completely the same, and the name is appropriate. but i'd say it was just easier to translate. like, even deciding to use french or british name of the film is difficult. actually for a very long time when "the great escape" was mentioned i actually thought of this version - my brain completely blanking out the one with mcqueen.
The payoff is worth it. The friendships across neighbourhood, workplace, and family. The character development.…
absolutely. many new relationships formed, everyone changed for the better, a happy end for all and a lot of comedy throughout. and all of that without excessive nastiness. what more could one want from a romantic comedy :D
Minor peeve that there were a few irritating moments where he was portrayed "too savanty. But there lots of familiar faces too. So overall a great binge and I really enjoyed it.
Oh it's finally over. great. I was going to suffer it just to see how Estelle Chen fares. after reading comments/reviews sounds like she did a great job but the rest of it is ... yeah ... I better hold off for another while.
i'd recommend to watch "estranged fall in love" first. there's a tiny bit of mismatch in terms of timeline alignment but after watching it in one go as one work, yeah it's definitely a different experience.
fantastic. yeah ending isn't to my liking per-se but i can't say it's bad. the journey was very good. actually the reboot/sequel makes a lot more sense now as well. very engaging.
well in e05 it's just said that xuntian sect was secretly investigating his collaboration with the enemy. i guess…
haha, yeah i see your playlist is busy. i generally avoid modern stuff but just finished "feel at ease..." and thought if i should take a look at that one too. in fairness she's awesome in those "girl next door" roles.

but, i wonder if it gave them an idea for this mini :D
