Bad acting, bad story, just bad

What I felt after the first minutes was that this show is "steril"... It feels like the desinfect spray they use all the time (because the story plays during/after Corona). The acting is lifeless, except Cakes brother (Tee). Many actors are too old for their roles or at least look too old, especially Cake. After the first episode you will get the gist of how the story will end, when the "bitches" appear. It was so predictable and so lazy again. And whats with all the reverb in many scenes? While the production quality itself is mostly good, there should have been also audio-editing for removing reverb. But with such bad acting and no chemistry at all there was no chance in hell this could be good.

So in short, just skip this show and watch something else, it's just a waste of time. How this show can have a rating above 7 is a mistery for me. Is it ok for people watching this crap just because it's BL? It's beyond my mind. The year 2024 is a sad year for Thai BL, producing crap en masse with only a few really good shows and mostly just medicore ones.

turn your brain off and enjoy

We got a teaser of at the end of the series and now we see a continiation of the story in another world.
Sadly they did not go all the way, because I would like have seen Phu freaking out after the kiss...

this is an extra epsisode has a very light story, some fluff, some kissing and a bit fan-service. Production quality was good but in one scene the microphones were a bit mumbled which breaks the illusion. So overall nothing spectacular but cute. If you liked the series you will probably like this as well.

Condensed story, very good acting, positive message

Love Sick 2024 was a surprise for me. I did not expect much out of it, but it was made very well. They condensed the story of the original two seasons into one, cut out some of the draggy stuff, but they did struggle in the end.
While the series started really strong, I felt like the last three episodes left something to be desired. Maybe it was time-constraints that forced them to do that, but it could have been better. Minus points also for the ads in your face, even when they tried to make them incorporate in scenes, but most felt forced. Plus points for the acting of most of the young lads/gals which did deliver a performance most seasoned actors could take a lesson from. Of course there are no NC scenes, because most of the kids are really kids, around 14 to 19 while filming this series, Sometimes it was not that easy to keep track of all the storylines with such a huge cast, but the original had even more going on (the did cut the girl-school out of this version).

Some reviewers will give you a detailed acount of what's going on, so I will not repeat them, suffice to say, while the original series was not bad, I liked the condensed version better, especially it has no match in production quality. The original felt very budget constraint but here they went all out with good cinematography and sound.

This is more a coming of age story than a BL, but kids need to know of themselves, need to know how to solve problems with talking, like Phun & Aim and Noah & Yuri, they need to intervene when abusive parents are doing bad things and to be mature when it matters. The series has also a nice vibe going on, even with the bad stuff happening and sends a positive message to every teenager watching this: Be yourself, don't hide your feelings and stand up for yourself.

Overall, one of the few Thai shows in 2024 I can recommand. It's not perfect, it lost some stream in the end, but compared to all the other shows around, it was still done very well.

Strong beginning, bad ending....

This show started strong in the first episode and the second gave a glimpse of what could be an outstanding show. But the writers missed it.

While Sea was really good acting a nearly blind person, he was not so great with the fluffy moments. Jimmy did grow in his acting but he could only do as much as he was given from the script. The problem is the writing, the 180 turn from "enemies" to "lovers" was much too fast, the character development did just happen over night. Mhok should have much more struggle with his trauma and a spoiled brat does not turn 180° overnight also.

The side characters all did a good job. Production value and music was very good, but that does not help with the storytelling. The last two episodes are strange and the "happy ending" was too much. Day should have stayed blind, they should not have seperated in that way they did because Day was back to his spoiled brat days only thinking about himself.

The premise of the show was very good but they butchered it for "fan service" to make the show fluffy. It's still enjoyable to watch when you don't expect exceptional story-telling.

sad & beautiful with amazing chemistry and top-notch cinematography

For an idol Kamimura Kenshin had an amazing debut in his main role. Both leads had an amazing chemistry, subtle facial expressions or not so subtle facial expressions which cought me in episode 1. The sensiblity with all their inime scenes filmed was stunning. The story was captivating and it was excruciating to wait for the next episode. Oh my god did I wish this series had been released with all episodes at once.

The characters were detailed and their personalities completly different. Motojima Junsei as Jin also showed great skill, the introvert with only two friends, overthinking anything and struggeling to come out of his shell. Haruki has "friends" but is not close to anyone, hides his struggles and is abused at home. He fears to become like his father and so he always decides not to fight back, takes blame for things he never did and is generally an outcast by most people. Jin does not understand Haruki, he knows of the abuse, but subconsciously he knows Haruki is not a bad guy. And then Haruki is bold kissing Jin a lot, never by force, but denies Jin the word for his feelings which does confuse Jin a lot. You feel the tension and their struggles with each other. And when you think all is well, it is not. Of course this a BL so we get a happy end.

There are some things I did not like. Jin was not open with his friends It was never shown that he told them about his love but it was implied, otherwise why did he invite his friends for the movie made by Haruki? His film is about two boys who seperate to meet again when adults btw. The second one is that the finale felt underwhelming. While the beginning was good the middle and end was lukewarm including the kissing scenes. I had tears in my eyes through all episodes from 1-9 but only in the beginning of episode 10. That's the only reasons why it was not perfect for me. Update: The "special" epsiode (sometimes labeled episode 11) does not solve the issue that Jin keeps in the closet with his friends even when Haruki said he had a crush on Jin but circumvent the reason. So either his friends are stupid and don't get the drift or it's a huge plothole.

The cinematography and direction was on point. This is a series you should binch-watch, the 10 episodes at around 22 minutes playtime will be gone faster than you can imagine and are a delight to watch. While it seems to be going slow everything was made with a tought behind it. Again a great japanese BL which makes thai shows looking very lame and underwhelming (with few exceptions). Overall this is a must see and was one of the best in 2024.

A 3rd tier GMMTV show for braindead people...

I can only say "Typical GMMTV". When you use the same door-sound used 10 years ago in Sotus and regardless of how heavy the door is, it is always the same, you know that the sound editors just used the cheapest thing available. And don*t mention the music. It's either "suspense" or "sentimental" or the same canned music every GMMTV romcom is using and has no direction and no concept.

Of course this is not the worst of this series, it shows just how irrelevant this show was for GMMTV. It seems this was just a "job creation scheme" for two "aging" actors who would sit on the bench otherwise. That's not saying that they are bad actors, it's onl.y saying that GMMTV collects actors like others collect Pokémons and sometimes you use them, because it's just fun. And could GMMTV stop putting nearly 30 year old actors into universities? Especially if the baddy looks younger and is a teacher instead 🤣.

"Why is it not working?" Nakan asks in episode 7. Because the story is badly written. It does not answer the question "where does the golden blood come from?". You research that question for decades and still have no answer (of course, because the script writers had only a week to write something). We only know, it makes you mad or horny and the fragrance forces you to jerk off. It can destroy vampires immortality but not turn you into a human. But it can resist the effects of vampires controlling you, but you can still become a vampire.

And because the story is so bad "Tonkla" submits to his lowest feelings and then not- and then he dies... Whoops. But nothing says "rose pedal bath" more after the funeral the scriptwriters thought.

Finally the finale... oh my god... this is all sooo cliché. As usual GMMTV has no vision or courage to have a bad ending which would give this series a glimpse of something special. The golden blood does not hinder you to become a vampire yourself and we have no clue how that golden blood influences everything. Should he not be the most powerful vampire now?

Overall I could have not given a rats ass myself about the characters. I did not care who died and who didn't. Most of the time the whole storyline was streched to fill 12 episodes which made most of if boring as hell. The chemistry was there sometimes but I never ever had one a fluffy feeling and even other bad shows at least manage that. So really this was a non-event for me. I needed binge-watch the last 4 episodes to write this review and that was a chore. 🤣

So, is this the worst GMMTV show this year (2025)? Yes. Is it the worst show ever: no. I would say, it was mostly a waste of time. Why even this show with it's obviously bad script is so overrated - I have no clue. You can believe all the 9-10 ratings reviews that this is the best show after human invented sliced bread or you have a brain of thinking yourself and believe me when I tell you, please watch something else.

Cringe and cliché and highly overrated!

OMG, what a crap story. 🤣 Yes, yes, many will disagree with me but I'm sick of the "but I'm a man" lines and the 180° turnaround two episodes later...

The story was weak, the over-acting cringe. Why did it have to been Ms. Wad and not Mr. Wad? To be gay is not a new thing.
Happily I could got through with it with lots of skipping the BS.

The only highlight was Vee's grandma. Also the martial arts scenes started strong, but in the end even their quality declined. The "bad guys/gal" were one-dimensional and from a pennybook without any depth. But all characters were a lot like that, one-dimensional. There is some growth for both Vee and San but only on a minuscule scale from a bad outset imho.

I personally prefer "Lost in Translation" as the much more enjoyable show, even when this show was not perfect either. If I were you, I would skip this show and watch the former outing or when you like fancy costumes and an historical/fantasy vibe I would recommand "Meet You at the Blossom" as a much better experience.

There is always something weird with MAME productions...

I'm divided with this show. While I enjoyed the largest part of the show, MAME does always something weired or sick in her stories. This time it's the parents who seems to have some deal to call their children property. This is so absurd, that I can't take it serious. If this part would not exist, it would be an excellent show. At least she gave the parallel world story in this series more depth compared to the novels.

I never had a doubt in my mind that the parallel worlds do exist in this series, That made this series interesting and intriguing. The only downside Cir had always act like a stalker to get to know about Phukan. He is not a stalker as we understand the word. He does watch him, but he does not invade his private space in any way, so I had no problem with that. The only problem of the whole story are the parents. They don't fit and they are not needed. That's why my rating about the story is so low, because it's not good. The rest of it was better than everything else Me Mind produced. I think both MLs did improve their acting, but Boss improved a lot. Also the side couple was very cute and I would not mind to see them in their own series. The chemistry was top-notch, as always and the MLs can kiss :) Cinematography was good, the OST was excellent.

So this time, I will ignore the bullshit parent storyline because overall I really enjoyed the show. It was more mature than expected, it had less cringy elements than most and it had a lot of fluff. But it's miles away from a 10 :)

Much better as "Cooking Crush" but still wasted potential and not a real BL

The lazy writing is a trend 2024. Conflicts will be resolved in matters of minutes, the story is "safe" without much of controversy or social critisim, I am still not a fan of the Thai version of romcon, especially episode 4 was soooooo over the top I was barely able to watch it.
The story also lacks of a real BL story, they meet in passing, they get in love in passing, the have two episodes to get closer but with many misunderstands inbetween (because there must be drama) and then Jane left for five years. I find it a bit unrealistic that someone leaves, does not contact his love interest in that time and then everything goes back as it was before when Jane returns, Because the writing is lazy they have also a hetero couple, where they injected drama by making the girl lesbian for an episode. One episode and one meal later, everything is as it was before but the male part is more considerate now. Think what would have happend if they taked about their feelings and grievances before, we would have four episodes less!

We had worse shows this years, but to rate this show with a 10 is beyond me. It's just a safe bet for GMMTV to produce something tame without any really interesting story plots. When I compare this to "Not me" nobody can tell me that this show is in any way better or deserving a 10. So the fangirl overrating continues and it's one more reason why lazy writing prevails. This show could have been so much more, but it isn't, I am not even disappointed because I do not expect anything anymore from GMMTV.

Overall the story is shallow, the acting is good, the overacting is cringe, there are some truly funny moments, there is a lack of fluff but the series is at least not boring. It's an ok show with too less BL and too much time spend on the hetero couple to call it a BL.

still cliché...

There is the boy who likes the other boy and still says "He's not that way". That cliché is sooooo old and is just annoying. The bullying consists in a passive way, shunning the other boy. The end scene does not really tell us if they get togehter or not at least the boy which is not that way seems to be that way.

So I don't like the premise much, the acting is a bit over medicore but for a coming of age story the actors are too old imho. Cinematography is nice, music is good but it lacks depth. Even for a short film there was not much substance.

Overall it's not bad but also not good. Even in 2020 we should expect better writing, more emotions and someone who stands up against bullying especially in a gay context. This is just medicore.

Better compared to Anti Reset

This is the second series where a human falls into love with an android (in the same "universe"). They did nothing great for the story, they still annoy us with stupid sound effects and some comedic elements would not have been necessary.

But this time the pacing is better, the story is more fun and the boy is of course a tsundere which I have weak spot for :) The chemistry between the MLs was nice and the side couple was cute as well but did not have lot's of screen time.

So, I will not dissect the whole series, but I was more entertained than I expected. If you need a palette cleanser after some heavy series, this is a show to do so. Nothing great, but nothing bad either.

Jay IS the show... the rest is average...

There is not much to say about this show. It's silly, it's cringe and it's cute too. Jay playing the "pengun" is the star of the show who delievers his character to perfection. He's direct, he know's what he wants, he is more mature than most in his emotions and without him, the show would fall apart. That part of the script was good, the rest of the script was medicore at best.

So, if you have nothing better to do, the show is watchable, if you have better things to do, you may skip it.

Refreshing different...

This years BL shows were mostly disappointing (story), but having said that, this show is different. While I personally don't care about makeup or fashion, it shows a different world (for me). The only cliché is, all male makeup artists/beauty advisors are gay. 🤣

Both MLs did a good job portraying their characters and it was fun to watch them grow together. A minus for me is the lackluster finale were the drama feels forced. I would have wished for a more emotional finale with some hot scenes like in episode 3 and more background for Toma in episode 7.

While their story is not as interesting as it could have been, its sensible and enjoyable. The directing and execution overall is very good. When you are tired of the 100th school/university 08/15 story, this show offers something different at a mellow pace with some cute and fluffy moments and you can come down from a stressful day in your life.

Strong beginning, flat over most the time and ridicilous story...

First let me say, I liked the second season more than the first season, even if the story did sometimes not make sense. Most of the actors improved a lot and especially the newcomer "Milk" was really great in his role.

The story arc of "Alan" was a bit of a WTF moment. And the biggest minus was the pacing. There was a lot of lost time with incosequential story but not enough focus on the other couples. NorthSonic should have started much much earlier and KimKenta should have much more dialogue and not just some kisses in the finale.

So was it bad? Not really. I don't really like the script, but I like most of the acting. While "Pooh" is a nice "boy", he will never be a great actor as sofar I see it. The rest of the cast were good or even very good. Alan felt not like Alan because of his story. Don't know what the script-writers thought, but it does not work for me. The races were as lame as in the first season - I have more fun watching Formula 1. But of course the finale left some things to be desired. It was all rushed in the last two episodes and before it was partly boring and the characters "run in circles" and nothing really happenend. While Charlie is nearly dead he wakes up some time later, but we don't know when, because they cut that out completely. It's one year later and because he drives he remembers every thing... OMG, what a cliché and a point of lazy writing! And they get paid for this!

I'm not a fan of the Omegaverse and to call themselves Mama and Papa still feels cringe - and why did Mama not get pregnant, they could do that too!. The script was the mess I expected it to be (because I never had much hope for that), but overall it was an ok series compared to every other crap series Thailand produced in the last two years. So it's not good, it's above average because of the acting and the cinematography, but it's not bad either even when the script is the worst part of this show. And half a point off for "cut" version of course.

Not an redemption arc!

While I am happy that "Up" had a chance to play a different character (and we all did really hate him), I'm disapointed in the story. Ming understands what he did was wrong, but he did not change his character that much. I can believe that he now really tries hard to be a better partner, but we have no idea if his control and power issues has been dealt with and I doubt it.
There were scenes where he was lying on the floor not eating, just drinking and not doing much, but this did not help to change his narcisistic flaws which are still present in the finale. I guess the screenwriter are contradicting the character because they wanted an redemption arc.

I also would have wished, they used "Winner" for the first part of the show and only "Poom" for the second half. This would of course complicated filming, because both actors would have to learn the same mannerisms for their characters which would have made the story more interesting and the immersion in the story more believeable. That the same person plays both characters irked me a bit.

I'm not happy with Mings character development and the same for Joe. Joe is always Joe not standing up for himself, not understanding when to say no. I can understand you love whom you love but there should be a moment when your brain says "enough is enough!". This show had so much potential, the first four episodes had me hooked and I thought about how they will solve the redemption. And because of the lack of a real redemption arc this show fails. For me the finale was especially lackluster because everyone is now "happy", all is good and even Mike got Mings secretary as future BF (They should have expanded that arc as well), because most of the later episodes is a repeat of the first ones without the violence and lack of self-reflection on Mings part but he forces Joe once again repeating the same mistake again.

So overall the show is still above average even when the story-writing falls of a cliff. It did at least try to do something different in the sea of average shows, it did try to give us a mature story in the sea of university settings. And Up as Ming was really great!
