OMGGG THIS IS ADAPTED FROM PROFESSIONAL BODY DOUBLE?! I have read that and tbh, that shit made me tear my hair…
It definitely will. I read both the novel and watched this and trust me the moment I think about the ML. I want to just lock him up in a mental asylum forever. He needs it.
Idk why are people calling out the cheating trope when each and every boc shows have it
Not just BOC , it applies to any particular series with a cheating trope. My problem here is the people doesn't want a cheating trope in a series. But they still watches the series and complaining how infidelity is shown. I mean cheating is a part of human interpersonal relationship, it exists real word , this it also exist in series. Everyone knows it's wrong so doesn't change the fact that even it is shown in a romantic way it's still wrong and the audience know it. So why not just sit back and enjoy the series as it is and honestly I am glad BOC makes cheating tropes, it creates complexity in series and characters, I like how they make morally gray character and I absolutely love it.
maybe unpopular opinion but like are we 12? Why are those ppl accusing BOC of promoting cheating? We’re all…
I think people are just using the word romanticization for the act of cheating. Which is simply not the case. It's just their love for each other have shown in a romantic way. There is back story and there is outcome to unfold. And it's just a mere series, nothing to be so serious about.

Well that is because Brokeback mountain and Shine have totally different genre. One is a Drama and other is a Political romance. It has been clear from the very first trailer and episode.
@Kpenthusiast have put it economically in a very nice way. It's not the cheating that has been romanticized, it's their love. Their love is romantic but the circumstances that they are falling in love with and being with each other is not.
Also again I think as a viewer we might feel the protagonist in love can be romantic eventhough it's not correct. For instance, that are like a handful of romantic movies with the victim falling for perpetrator, pure case of stockholm syndrome. Same goes with Infidelity as well.

I am tired of these Moral police who sometimes forget it just a show. I don't know why they never question when in movies violence, taking law in own hands, obsessive and controlling behaviour is normalised is movies. Hypocrisy it is.
People forget that if one likes a series and its story. It's because they just like watching the series and its story. It's not because they support of the protagonist is cheating or killing someone and in case if it triggers them so much they can always drop it.
Cheating happen in real life . Same does killing someone, SA etc. So stories will be made out of it and this a byproduct will movies and series be made. I think it's fine until and unless it's been glorified and I don't think in any of the series or movies cheating has been glorified.
Here's the thing. I've never once seen an asian drama that promoted cheating and so I don't find the criticism…
Now that you mention. I can relate. Eventhough a lot of asian dramas plots feels like they came straight out of a Wattpad. Yes, it's true. Whenever there is a cheating arc the characters have always been shown to suffer, regret or despise their actions. Cheating has never been glorified anywhere, nor it should be. Also I don't think the way people are gatekeeping morality by criticizing a cheating plot is fair. I mean the audience is not stupid enough to start supporting infidelity and say the action is right just because the protagonists are cheating. I think you can love the love story of a couple at the same time be aware of their actions being morally incorrect (cheating).
I agree with you and was thinking of the same thing . He behaviour is really shaddy. He showed little to no expression…
I am soo glad.
I know right. Eye contact was a ride. I promise I will come back is just - I don't even have a word for it. Consider yourself lucky if you haven't watched Mission to the moon 🙏🏻
It would be cool for them to have a spin off. I heard that if this drama get successful enough, they are considering…
Yes, that would be perfect. I want to see not the major scenes but the details about their story like more details on the story developement. How Wenlang fell for Gao Tu. How he asked for forgiveness. How was their life after reconciliation. It would be soo cool 🤩🤩
I understand your perspective, and I also agree that the historical context matters a lot when we look at these…
I do agree with every single word you said here. That there is always a choice and people always have a choice to live with honesty.
I myself absolutely despise cheating. Trust me! However, my point here was not to justify cheating by any means or present the excuse of the oppressing era but to understand the circumstances that forced them to act so.
The way I see it is a way of human behaviour influenced by the environment. It's like making mistakes knowing they are morally wrong. The things that influence them to make those mistakes such as fear, lust and desperation. Not everyone is brave enough to rationally act, specially when your surrounding demands you to survive. Plus it's human nature to want to be happy . So we end up making the wrong choices all the times. So in all does it make krailert and Naran cheating their partners right? - Absolutely no. But strangely enough I find them romantic. Why you ask? Because I understand them.
I have seen a lot of people mad about the way they are ROMANTICISING CHEATING in this series.
Well my thoughts bout this storyline is entirely different. First, we have to consider the fact that this was in the 70s which means that probably out parents weren't even born by then(mostly).. Consider people coming out 10 years back. Was it easy??.. reminding the fact that even 10 years back in most of the being gay was a crime, punishable to prison and even sometimes death. Sad fact is that that still prevails in some part of the world. Imagine a person living his whole life in lie and finds someone who he falls for and the other person also reciprocated the same feeling will it. With their such a passionate love. It would be merely impossible to stay away and not get involve with them. In that case, the ideal thing would be to go and be honest with their respective partners and end things with them.
However, in case of Krailert and Naran it's not about the ideology. It's mere SURVIVAL. They need to survive, but the same time their body and mind can't lie. It's easy to judge them and say why don't they break up with their respective partners. Meanwhile, haven't lived in that era.... So its insensible to conclude that.
In the end, do I think cheating is an unforgivable act? ,- Yes. Do I think the story of Krailert and Naran is romantic? - Absolutely yes.
Everytime I start watching a new Chinese BL/bromance drama. I come back to my parents. It's like a part of me is just attached to this drama and will forever be.
