hmmm seems to be a lot of people defending this show so we move.
we should move on now, i guess.. since MBC has apologized already.. for people who still feel offended then its' ok.. just skip the show for people who still wanna enjoy.. then go on..
This isn’t just harmless “fun”—it reduces real cultures to props or jokes, which is disrespectful. It…
how come the content of them dancing mocking the cultures? like i said they're cosplaying in aladdin setting and doing the fun dances to promote an ice cream and all the characters they're all playing are just FICTIONAL.. the ladies as genies laughing at how the male lead mimicking the twirling ice cream.. it doesn't necessarily mean to laugh at the cultures, but laugh more to the way he danced to that twirling ice cream..it's really not that deep..
then again, ALADDIN has been going on around for decades, many videos of people dancing to ALADDIN in various type of dances available worldwide to be seen on any other social media platforms, but no one really give a damn and just laugh along with it..
all i say is that, CHILLL..there are so much more important issues to raise like example for what's happening in GAZA that cause a lot of innocent lives, than getting offended by some dance moves which don't even offend any cultures..
but guess this is my last straw debate with you.. you do you, i do me..
This isn’t just harmless “fun”—it reduces real cultures to props or jokes, which is disrespectful. It…
yea i've read about that..
but aladdin has existed for decades... their broadway musical is well known.. there have been many performances in a lot of countries..so why don't people protest the aladdin musical & anything aladdin related anywhere in the world too?? but only come protest once a kdrama made a video teaser based on it?? even every disneyland in this world has the aladdin theme too.. but no one gives a damn about it until some korean actors and actresses doing aladdin cosplay for a tv drama..suddenly people of the cultures feel offended the most.. like seriously??
since they're based on aladdin, of coz there'll be some mixture in the clothing style too... they're based on aladdin which culture itself it's a mixture between middle east and south asia..
many people on tiktok are doing a lot of aladdin cosplaying why no one is mad?? i'm sure these days people watch tiktok videos more than tv...
This isn’t just harmless “fun”—it reduces real cultures to props or jokes, which is disrespectful. It…
even it's based on aladdin , fictional characters also deemed as disrespectful? isnt it obvious there's magic lamp, the ladies acted as genies, n the male lead acted as aladdin (the purple vest, white pants) so they're actually portraying fictional characters?
hmmm... the video teaser has got nothing to do with the actual drama's plot..the teaser video is a commercial…
the synopsis of this drama is about 3 working ladies to make end meets then they invest in cryptocurrency.. so no other culture involved actually..
i dont really know about lee sun bin, but her drama with siwan, boyhood did great.. they're going to filming season 2 soon next year..
kim young dae's previous dramas have done pretty great too so far.. specially the last one with shin min ah.. he has upcoming drama too which will be aired in november, called dear x, the PD is the famous lee eung bok..
Lee sun bin and Kim young dae aren't really interested in choosing better scripts, are they? *smh*Edit: I'm not…
hmmm... the video teaser has got nothing to do with the actual drama's plot.. the teaser video is a commercial ad for ice cream product (which is a recreate from an ice cream ad in the 80s), because their drama characters work in a company that sells confectionery including the ice cream. the arabian setting they did is based on the aladdin, hence the magic lamp seen there.. the 3 ladies portraying as genies which can be in any forms and appearances.., and youngdae as the aladdin, look at his purple vest. so it's all just fictional characters. the ladies dance prettily, youngdae danced mimicking the ice cream twirling. why would people get offended by fictional characters that have been existed for decades.
but more than anything, it's good thing that MBC deleted and apologized right away, much better than keeping it like the netflix drama with the iblis name which is much worse case imo... but they are still going on..
what scene of the crime? ok i got it with the africa one.... but this moon drama isn't even about arabian / indian…
do you see the MAGIC LAMP as the prop there? it's clearly inspired by ALADDIN, the fictional character.. do you see what he wear on that video? he's wearing the clothing resembles as ALADDIN, the purple vest, n the white pants, and he wouldn't go shirtless, would he?... the 3 ladies there are portraying GENIES coming out from the magic lamp, they're not portraying real persons.. GENIES is known as supernatural beings which can shapeshifting themselves into any forms and appearances according to the folk tale......ALADDIN is a fictional character with fictional culture mixed from middle east and south east asia..and even influence from China too..
Anyone who will cosplay or do parody with an arabian background, most of them will instantly refer to ALADDIN as the inspiration, hence the magic lamp is seen there...even their old ice cream CF didn't have the magic lamp, and there was a cartoon of an arab male who seen like wearing just a short pants and the old ice cream ad looks more inappropriate than the remake version.
so NOPE, they are not being racist for doing this video even though MBC has apologized (better they apologize before things getting escalated which is good move). but they're still not doing anything wrong. it's just some people are just too judgemental over something that isn't meant to be an insult towards a certain culture.
what scene of the crime? ok i got it with the africa one.... but this moon drama isn't even about arabian / indian…
i don't get it why people have to be offensive by fictional characters based on Aladdin, which the 4 casts are portraying in the video.. there's a magic lamp as the prop, the setting of the video is clearly inspired by Aladdin, the ladies are portraying as Genies (supernatural creatures who can shapeshifting into any kind of forms and appearances).. and the male lead is wearing the same purple vest just like Aladdin~ 4 of them were just doing funny dancing moves there.. i don't know what's the fuss about it... calling them racist is way too far where they were just doing parody of Aladdin which has fictional culture mixed from middle east and south asia..
what scene of the crime? ok i got it with the africa one.... but this moon drama isn't even about arabian / indian…
oh yes, i'd defend him because he just did all those dance moves just like how those male arabians i saw on tiktok videos doing dance to any kind of dance moves that look fun to them.. and they sure had a lot of fun..
There are lots of videos of male arabians dancing on tiktok..
what culture? if what he did just like those male arabians did with the dance moves? it's called random dance moves.. don't have any ill intention about it.. it's just supposed to be a FUN thing.. just like how a non korean wearing hanbok then dance to gangnam style. coz gangnam style is iconic korean move..what's difference?
don't come at the "not enough EQ or old enough" like a template.. it's boring and too forced lol..
KYD always at the scene of the crime. I doubt they'll learn from it. Research is not a thing for these drama makers.
what scene of the crime? ok i got it with the africa one.... but this moon drama isn't even about arabian / indian culture.., he was just doing the dance move while wearing arabian clothing.. probably he just learnt the dance based on what he saw on a video the drama team gave him.. he certainly is not a great dancer.. it was meant to be just fun dance move in a colorful video & they only parodied an old ice cream CF back in the 80s.. that's related to their drama theme which is about a company confectionery hence the ice cream CF video.. but the drama itself isn't anything about cultural thing, but is an office drama where the leads working and the girls are into cryptocurrency investment.
The teaser was removed, but thanks, some people uploaded it before:https://x.com/Kdramastars1/status/1958463300045300202It…
it's indeed an ad based on the old ice cream CF hehe.. but better than getting it bigger.. MBC made a good move to remove it on their official platforms..
Scriptwriter for drama: Na Yoon-Chae
for people who still feel offended then its' ok.. just skip the show
