He and WR said they were awaiting for antidote to arrive with the marriage procession, but they were talking to the FL, so they may have lied, beside the fact he intentionally skipped one pill bc he wanted to appear weak in front of the FL... But it could still be a half-truth (ie., he was poisoned by someone from his own court or family), bc I don't see any reason for Susha traitors to poison him. He is their ally, a person with whom they've had a deal to annihilate the Feng battalion, if they've put more pressure by poisoning, it could have turned against their plan, what if he exposes them, what if he kills himself... how will they achieve their goal (to destroy FSG's army)? Ok, that plan failed for the well-known reasons but he is still useful for Zhuangs' party which wants him married with the brainless princess, ie. the only real FSG's weakness. Besides, it looks like he was poisoned a long time before his dealings with these people from Susha

FSG called him a Beast but FSG also gave him too much credit. He is just a total hypocrite talking big to cover the fact he's a big weakling. Maybe your unintentional lapsus was better: a sheep playing, pretending to be a wolf.
"I don't kill women" - his words to the brainless FSG's sister which convinced her he was the hero of her dreams. Fact check: unless they are my most loyal generals who I want to marry.

We had this scene of him chatting happily with the 3 orphans, previously sent by him and WR bro to track her while he contemporarily sent another group of his people to kill her, to use one of those children to lure her (putting a child in a mortal danger as well) on a boat filled with inflamable oil... And after all that sh*t, he continues with his double personality insanity hoping she'll come back to him.

yes, but as I've said above, it's wrong to promise smth you can't maintain even when you are promising to yourself. He can't protect her bc he promised her earlier he would let her deal with her killers. That's why I've said all men in this drama talk big, I know he is a definitely better man than that beast(s) who even used those children to track her down and harm her
