Queen of Tears is a captivating drama with emotional depth, complex characters, and stunning production. The male lead’s reaction is often misunderstood, but it reflects his shock and emotional journey as he faces life-altering news. The female lead’s quiet strength and resilience shine through her stoic exterior, offering a compelling portrayal of love and growth.

With top-notch cinematography, set designs, and a powerful soundtrack, Queen of Tears delivers a visually and emotionally immersive experience. It’s not overrated; it’s a drama that resonates with audiences who appreciate thought-provoking storytelling and remarkable performances. In fact, the show has garnered significant acclaim in 2024, surpassing many contemporaries in ratings and acting praise. Its exploration of complex emotional landscapes, combined with a talented cast, has set it apart, proving why it’s one of the year’s standout dramas.

I know you’re lying when you say there’s zero acting effort go and camp on your Lovely Runner page.

In episode 13, although it was initially mentioned that Haein wouldn't undergo surgery, she ultimately did not need open brain surgery. Instead, an ultrasound treatment was used, which meant she wasn't required to shave her hair. This approach allowed the character to avoid the more invasive procedure, aligning with the story's medical developments.

What you wrote back in response is nonsensical. Bae Seok Ryu's actions cannot be simply labeled as selfish. Being the eldest child, she constantly faced pressure to meet everyone’s expectations, often at the cost of her own emotional well-being. This pressure to be “perfect” often left her feeling emotionally drained and misunderstood.

Her actions and decisions were not about selfishness but rather about the exhaustion of carrying the weight of expectations. Being the eldest often meant she had to sacrifice her own emotional needs to live up to what others demanded of her. She wasn’t just reacting impulsively; she was someone struggling to balance her own needs with the expectations forced upon her. I will stop here with you.

Just bcz of an argument one day with the Fiance , she decided to end her years long relationship with him. She…
The female lead not being able to open up fully to her mother or her fiancé wasn’t a sign of her being emotionally closed off without reason. She grew up in an environment where she was expected to always be perfect, especially as the eldest daughter, which likely made it harder for her to express her vulnerability. The emotional weight she carried was never fully understood, even by those closest to her.

Her relationship with her fiancé wasn’t about whether he "deserved" her; it was about whether they were truly compatible on an emotional level. Just because he supported her cooking career or returned to make amends doesn't mean they were meant to be together. Emotional support goes beyond surface actions it's about understanding each other on a deeper level. She may have taken time to realize this, but sometimes clarity only comes after experiencing emotional disconnection over time.

Claiming she was made "dumb for 10 years" also misses the point. Emotional growth and self-awareness don’t follow a strict timeline. Her time in the US was part of her journey, and just because she didn’t end up with her fiancé doesn’t make her unworthy. It’s natural for relationships to end when two people aren’t the right fit for each other, regardless of effort.

You clearly don’t understand her character in this drama.

Bae Seokryu’s fiancé stood by her during her illness, but even well-intentioned support sometimes missed the mark. She might have felt misunderstood, unheard, or even pressured by his way of "helping" her, which deepened her sense of isolation, despite his presence. Healing wasn’t just about someone physically being there; she needed emotional support in a way that truly resonated with her. If she rejected his efforts, it was likely because they didn’t address what she needed at the time.

As for not sharing things with her mother or others, it showed her deep-seated issues with vulnerability and trust. It wasn’t that she saw relationships as meaningless, but rather that she felt burdened by them or feared burdening others with her struggles. Playing the “pitiful card” seemed like a defense mechanism for someone who was overwhelmed and unsure of how to ask for help.

In the end, her decision to end the relationship felt like a necessary step in realizing what she needed emotionally, even if it was painful. It wasn’t about selfishness; it was about protecting herself from a situation that no longer felt right, no matter how much history there was.

The drama leaned more on themes of family, friendship, and romance, with the second half focusing more on the healing journey. While the ex's storyline stretched the plot a little , it did give room for a slow-burn romance that I liked.

I didn’t dislike the mom, i think her character wasn’t as bad just like you mentioned. She represents the type of mothers who, while insecure, genuinely want the best for their family but often go about it the wrong way. Despite her complexity, she still had her small growth.

Lovely Runner is a timeslip drama, and while this drama may have some similarities to other shows, it still develops its own unique story, especially from the second half. If the pacing doesn't quite work for you, it might be worth trying another drama or putting this one on hold for now.

I Rewatched some episodes of this drama and I seem to like it even more than I did before I found myself fully engaged with the characters, never feeling bored.

This drama isn’t just your ordinary romance; if you’re expecting that, that’s not what you will get. Don’t let the tags confuse you, as it explores more of friendship, family, slow burn romance and careers, especially from Bae Seokryu's perspective.

I had to officially drop this at episode four for some reason I just couldn’t be compelled to continue this…
The first four episodes focus on reunions and bickering between the leads. It's a slow-paced drama, and it won't be everyone's style,

I’ve seen that as well people tend to throw around the word "overrated" a lot. Some didn’t even enjoy the drama from the very first episode, but they still watched it just because, and then ended up hating on it 😂.

I understand that everyone has different opinions, but the hype around *Love Next Door* wasn't overwhelming. It seemed more like surface-level buzz rather than excessive hype, so I don't see how it could be considered "overrated."
