Aww, such an adorable drama you guys, I loved the post-credit scenes 🄹. The drama somehow felt both rushed and slow paced at the same time, which is hard to explain, but it still worked. I do wish there were more episodes with more story. Even so, it’s imperfectly perfect in its own way. I’d really love to see a season 2 or something with only Changning and Bo’er hehe.

It’s a good watch! Landy Li never disappoints she’s such a versatile actress. I really liked her in The Starry Love, so I’m glad to see her shine here as well.
The ending plot twist was surprising. I mean, the emperor being an imposter was pretty obvious, but the twin reveal? That was something else to see unfold. That said, some of the other investigations were fairly predictable, and it wasn’t too hard to guess how they’d turn out.
The main leads had decent chemistry. I liked the kissing scenes, but some of their ā€œinterruptionsā€ felt a little cringe, not gonna lie. The drama didn’t really come off as angsty it leaned more toward a wannabe mystery-thriller vibe, which it did manage to deliver at certain points.
I wanted to drop this drama several times (I’m trying to fix my attention span these days šŸ’€), but I’m glad I stuck with it. The twin plot at the end made it worth it for me :P

You are not alone. The FML is quite a repulsive character here. Even her supposed "redemption" arc is…
Yeahh i agree with you just finished it i guess i came to accept her towards the end lol the story itself is too engaging to mind her xD

Not sure what ending you are referring to as the one I watched had the couple happily living on the plains with…
I agree with your comment especially about a 39-year-old playing a 16-year-old. I think I even mentioned that in my review of this drama.
When I said the ending was unsatisfactory, that’s completely a personal opinion, just like you said. I tend to like stronger female leads, and with the title, I was hoping the FML would grow stronger and get revenge, or that the villains would face intense karma. But after Awu’s miscarriage, she seemed to become less and less ā€œrebelliousā€ and more forgiving toward all her enemies, which felt a bit pitiful to me.
I also don’t really understand how she ā€œchoseā€ Xiao Qi. She was clearly forced to marry him by her family who were corrupt themselves. I really liked Xiao Qi; he was super patient with her and was probably the only thing her father did right. But even then, the ending felt unsatisfactory mainly because it was blatantly rushed and gave the couple only the bare minimum they deserved after everything they suffered.
I can’t recall every detail about why I was left disappointed, but it’s not because the drama was bad it’s because it had the potential to be so much more. It started with such intensity and storytelling filled with angst, which was honestly so fun to watch. But the title misled me into thinking the FML would rise against every evil and wrong, becoming truly powerful. There’s nothing wrong with a vulnerable character, of course but the title gave me hope she would become much more than what we got.
I hope you don’t take any offense.

Hello, pls was it a happy or sad ending. You can add a spoiler tag
It is a unsatisfactory ending but the 2 main leads didn't die and they stayed together so i guess it can be concluded as an happy ending ? It really depends on the viewer but please do give it a watch if you want the whole experience ;)

So far, it’s really good, but I have to say I like the Grand Princess more than the FML both in terms of character and chemistry with the ML, which usually never happens šŸš¶šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø So I really hope the FML proves why she’s the FML lol.
I especially hate characters (and even people in real life) who keep lying just to cover up another lie without realizing they’re only hurting themselves more in the process so yeah, I really hope she gets some kind of arc
Such a shame I can’t make time to binge this since it’s exam season 🄲

The visuals and cinematography really stay with you just like in Empresses in the Palace and Yanxi Palace. Also, the title feels so misleading because the FML is anything but rebellious 😭 I really wish it had a better ending and fewer frustrating moments. would have been one of the best historical drama

Just finished this drama, and honestly, the first few episodes and the last few were the sweet spot. I personally enjoyed it a lot even though some parts felt a bit bland, the overall light-hearted energy and comedic moments were so heartwarming that they kept me watching. The fight scenes were incredibly satisfying, and as a woman, there were so many moments where I felt deeply connected to the situations. It really made me reflect on the things women have gone through for decades, and that emotional connection made the story hit harder.
I especially loved the FML the energy she gives off is so powerful. Her relationships, her presence, and her acting made her grow very close to my heart. One of the cutest things in this drama for me was how, even after her gender was revealed, her ā€œbuddiesā€ and comrades remained fully supportive. Their bond was honestly adorable and so wholesome to watch.
Next, He Rufei I already knew he was a great actor, and he successfully rage-baited me 😭. He was such a strong villain, the kind you hate to your core, but at the same time, I found him deeply pitiful. He felt entitled to everything He Yan worked hard for, simply because he believed that if he had been healthy from the start, he would’ve had it all. That mindset made him tragic in a way I hated him, but I also felt sorry for him.
On the other hand, I truly hated the Chancellor. That man had everything and still chose corruption he literally chose violence and chaos for no reason 😭.
As for Mr. Chu Zhao, I don’t really see him as a villain. He felt more like a lost soul, chasing whatever he believed was right in the moment, all while carrying the trauma of his poor mother. He was another pitiful character to me clearly struggling with a lot. His ending was pretty good, but I genuinely don’t understand why they killed off that Yan He guy… like, I don’t see how that really added to the story. Maybe they were just trying to add more angst? 😭
Also, can we talk about the poster? The FML looks absolutely gorgeous. And when I first started this drama, I genuinely thought it would be way more tragic, but it turned out to be a really good watch. I don’t know why people are calling this mid lowkey an 9/10 for me. 8.5/10 for the drama but 9/10 for the fml ;)

I asked evrything about if ml has concubine or marries another etc...but forgot another important question before…
Wow, you must be really young 😭 Don’t jump to conclusions so fast give the story some time to develop. They did this on purpose. Twists like these are what make dramas interesting because they show the deeper emotions and layers of the characters instead of everything being straightforward.
When the ML says he ā€œloved so much,ā€ that love is clearly for his brotheralong with the respect and responsibility he feels toward him. He’s trying to fulfill his brother’s last wishes and make sure Lady Yulou is well taken care of. That doesn’t automatically mean romantic love, and assuming so kind of misses the emotional depth of the scene.
Details like this are exactly what make dramas enjoyable to watch they add meaning, complexity, and realism to the characters instead of making everything surface-level. That’s what good storytelling looks like.

Ughhh this was so good, I can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on this version for so long. I saw the Korean version 2–3 years ago and loved that one too, but I wouldn’t compare them since they feel so different in many ways only the starting/base plot is similar. This one definitely has a place in my heart; it’s a more mature love story with lots of angst and beautiful visuals. I loved the female lead she is witty, not gullible, kindhearted, and sweet and the male lead had his own charms as well. I’ve seen people say the 8th prince had more chemistry with her than the 4th prince, but I think it’s a matter of perspective. She seemed more emotionally intimate with the 4th prince, making him the one she truly loved, while the 8th prince is someone she’ll always hold in her heart because she’s the type of person who love deeply and with a lot of emotional depth. She genuinely loves anyone who shows her true love. Her relationships with the other princes were also a joy to watch they were definitely her true friends. In the Korean version, I felt like all the princes were in love with fml as far as I can remember, but here you can see a diversity of emotions and bonds. Truly a beautifully written, angsty drama.

i am sad i'll never watch this version because they are all bald.
Lmao I relate to this comment on another level. Literally every costume historical drama I’ve seen from this era has the guys and male leads always bald, and it makes it so much harder to tell them apart. It takes at least 10 episodes to figure out which character is which, and it’s so funny that I just can’t take it seriously. Right now I’m giving this drama a chance though lol.

On episode 3, it seems like the emperor might have forgotten the male lead's mother's death based on his expressions? . Also, I feel like I might have accidentally spoiled myself because the shadowy/blurred figure (the one who betrayed the female lead and shot her) looks a lot like a character I saw in the drama "The Romance of Tiger and Rose." But honestly, it’s not my fault they should have blurred him more! Really hoping it’s not the person I’m thinking of ;-;
