If genres and TV/online classifications matter to you when it comes to comparing the performance of dramas, then being on top of charts consisting of different genres and classifications of dramas would be meaningless too.
To have an idea whether a drama is a hit or not, you compare its viewership figures with those of a certified hit, regardless of genres. A drama being classified as TV or online just means that the TV drama is also shown on a TV network. But TTL was also streamed on iQiyi. Yunhe captures just the online views. Aside from comparing a drama with a certified hit drama to get an idea of how well a drama performed, you may also compare it with certain standards, such as a heat index of 10k in iQiyi and 30k in Tencent, both of which TJOL hasn't reached so far, or a Yunhe volume per episode of 30M (TJOL currently has 18.44M) and a Datawin score of 2.5, both of which TJOL hasn't reached so far.

By itself, TJOL's absolute figures are not that bad. Its performance in popularity charts Maoyan and VLinkage are impressive. But considering its big budget and its status as the year's most anticipated drama, it's understandable that people expected it to do at least as well as The Thriving Land which it did not.
I, myself, think that expectations should not be used to judge a drama and am hoping that the "most anticipated drama of the year" award is dropped. I think without such pressure placed on TJOL, it might have fared better. Another thing, fan wars are getting out of control and should stop. Otherwise, a vicious cycle of revenge would be the death of C-Ent.

A3: For me, it's 90% happy/angst. Both leads are optimistic who don't wallow in bad situations for long. Love and humor keep them afloat angsty situations.
A4. Also 90%. The leads' relationship drives the mood of the whole drama for me.
A5: I gave this 9.5/10. I love art films and was pleasantly surprised to see something akin to an art drama in Chinese Entertainment. The starting scene of ep 2 featuring the tribute ladies is surreal. The hanging cloths looking so pristine and pretty killed me with the contrast between beauty and evil, murderous intent. Such a tragic scene of helpless and hopeless women quietly succumbing to their deaths juxtaposed against a pretty setting. Surreal and macabre. The ending of the drama is another scene that wowed me. Again, the contrast, this time between the exhilaration of gaining freedom and the destruction of agents of tyranny.
