[Strictly series] Suji seems to be a sociopath. Growing up with a neglectful dad, constantly moving and never settling down, resulting in shallow relationships with others and a lack of friends. So she has grown to be individualistic and self dependant. In the series, she can lie smoothly and convincingly, very smart and quick witted, figuring out the game master in just a few days. She has no guilt in going back on promises, and definitely would throw others under the bus (shown with her initial seungyi jie plan) Absolutely willing to tear apart bffs and sending one of them to grade F just so suji herself can rise, even tho she herself is actively going through F rank bullying and knows how awful it is) just to get to her goal. She uses/manipulates (by bribing, crying) people around her smartly to get what she wants. It's very hard to know if Suji is genuine, and it almost feels like she is never genuine.
And ofc our dear sadist Harin is a mirror counterpart to our MC suji (even Jaeun agrees). Harin is a psychopath, or perhaps a sociopath too since we don't know how she was like as a child. But assuming my theory about her growing up in an orphanage is true, then maybe her environment wasn't the best for a child and resulted in her becoming sociopathic too.
After watching the first 4 eps, here are my theories: Harin mentioned hanuel house in ep1, was shown at hanuel house in another, then had a flash back of her playing with many kids when she was young. I'm assuming the latter is her with jaeun playing at hanuel house (orphanage), and that Harin was adopted by the Baek family (specifically, Grandma Baek, aka the most powerful and influential person. Which is why Harin seems so cold towards her parents, whom I only figured out were not blood related during the chest scene) Harin either manipulated her way to being grandma's favourite, or grandma really grew to love her at her volunteer times and chose to adopt her. Either way, being grandma Baek's fav = massive power = controlling her adoptive parents and many other relations. // But somehow Harin is so hateful towards Jaeun now, Jaeun must have wronged Harin greatly in some way, ... That she herself is guiltful enough to stay being bullied by her and the class.
My question now is, WHY did Harin pick Suji? Did she mean to get a new student addition since they lost one (WooRi) or did she choose Suji on purpose? Both of this options > why even add another student if Harin wants to isolate Jaeun to be bullied and punished? Adding someone new to the class will only increase the chances of getting another F companion for Jaeun. So why change what's not broken? Perhaps I'm reading into a very wrong direction but this is my theory so far.
I have read the webtoon up to chapter 18. So far, they keep most of the plot of the webtoon. There are things…
Same, I'm glad they changed the teacher part. Idk why but it would feel out of place if the teacher was a pedo in the series ver. Him being after money makes more sense as many of the students come from wealthy families
Grey. No gore, not much bullying. It's nothing compared to the glory (bullying wise) most of it is Suji trying to go against the game (lots of plotting, mind games, inter monologue, drama)
i've read the entire webtoon. so far they have made some changes. I do like that they give Su Ji a bit more personality…
I hvnt read finish the webtoon but it seems they changed the parent part because the series's Suji's dad will become involved with the school and other parents (idk if the webtoon one does or not but seeing how the webtoon barely acknowledges suji's mom, I doubt so)
I'm reading the webtoon after rewatching the first 4 eps of the show (PLS RELEASE MORE I CANT WAIT) and I must say, this is a once in a blue moon situation where the adaptation is better. I love that the series developed Harin's character earlier and more (this is only based on info till ep4, and where ep 4 is in the webtoon)
And I love many of the changes the series made (WooRi and her brother), while still staying pretty true to the original. Series additions like Suji's intro scene of being stopped at the school hate due to being late, then her lying smoothly and getting off Scott free, is such an effective scene as we got to learn so much about Suji in such a short amount of time: - She's quick witted - She's a smooth liar that can pull off lies without hesitation - Knows to back down when necessary (to the teacher, even though she was not at fault as she was a new transfer) - Smart, doesn't give away her name or class even when being caught off guard and being questioned by someone of higher authority
