China has 1.4 billion potential viewers / customers. CCTV is number 1 when it comes to TV stations. This is not a CCTV scandal, but CCTV is concerned with the situation. CCTV has commissioned a military drama tribut for the Party's 100th anniversary. The drama is supposedly a good production and was to have two practically equal heroes who became friends in the army and then their professional fate and private life were presented. One of the heroes was played by XZ. The drama spent months doing publicity and making people understand that XZ was 1ML. However, when the drama was announced to the public, it turned out that scenes from the life of the character played by XZ were very cut and suddenly this character became just a background for another character and XZ is 2ML. XZ fans felt hurt, not because XZ is 2ML, but because they think they are cheated and used for promotion for other actor. XZ fans massively withdrew their support from this drama and the drama dropped out of the top twenty from the top spot. XZ himself doesn't promote this drama either. Everyone expects TOoL to get all viewership, all popularity, etc., so the capital of other production blocks it as much as it can. After all, there are other popular artists and dramas who want to earn money and TOoL will stand in their way.
In my opinion, Hunan is deliberately blocking TOoL. Hunan has his own artists. They filmed TOoL when they hoped to recruit XZ, but he declined.
