I think the show is afraid of showing the FL becoming too emotionally vulnerable after falling in love. If it's true that HZ fell in love with YX, then she can't be that rational and break up with him so easily. Love changes people. HZ remains unchanged. This is why I'm having a hard time buying her love story with YX. It could've used a little bit of angst early. I'm not a fan of love triangles, but I wish they had kept Shen Qi around more. lol

I'm not saying her decision was wrong. But I feel like she gave up too easily. This is the same woman who took on 12 assassins for her man. The story sets her up her up as a ride-or-die type of woman, especially after she had fallen in love. Yet she gave up on her love in a heartbeat. The breakup felt emotionally hollow. I don't know if you've seen The Story Ming Lan. The FL is kinda like YX. She's very practical. But once she fell in love, things changed.

I understand her reasoning, and she's not wrong. I just think she broke things off way too easily. Breakups are supposed to feel emotionally heavy. That scene didn't fell like that. Maybe it's just me.

The King forced them apart. I wonder if YX will finally betray his crazy uncle for HZ. The breakup lacked emotional impact. The show desperately tried to convince us that those two fell deeply in love. But, it's not translating well (at least for me). For someone who her dying grandmother told to hold onto her love, I felt like HZ broke up with YX too easily. I know this show has fans, but the main romance severely lacks emotional weight. Still, this is a good drama.

I don't care about the Queen Dowager's sob story about her tragic love. I don't feel sorry for her. Just because fate was cruel to her in the past doesn't excuse her evil deeds in the present. Also, the old cliche of brothers competing for the same woman is tiresome. Can't these lazy writers think of other things?

I finally realized why this drama is tagged as a comedy. The FL is equal parts noble, doctor, martial artist, and ninja. Look writers, I get it the goal is to write a strong FL. But could you do that while dialing down the bullsh*t just a bit?

Love triangles where the sml is obnoxious, obsessive, and desperate is the absolute worst. I hope this isn't were we are headed.
