I am watching episode 39 and feels like a dream. I have never had a ship be this happy in televised form. They get bits and pieces of happiness. Meanwhile here, XZ is bragging about his nightly activities prowess and showing PDA with wifey infront of commoners. This feels like an audience oriented euphoria. I will never shut up about it. Thank you TLOS team, you guys are the best!!!!!

He returned because his dead ancient god friends gave him their remaining powers which were instilled in their tablets in the western courtyard of heavenly realm ( where XZ and SL met the ancient gods and SL got attacked by fire balls or something). They made him an ordinary devine being ( like Furong Jun). He has potential to regain his powers though ( I think episode 39 covered it). But he will never be an ancient god anymore.

Episode 38 was so traumatic and then bam rebirth, marriage, kids. Thank you Legend of Shen Li for indulging us with a happy ending. No short cut, no penance. XZ came back, mostly everyone seemed settled, XZ & SL lived together and got all their dreams fulfilled. Atleast in drama land, getting 100% happiness is a must. P.S what acting, kudos!

Glad ZLY had the producer’s power to bring back her old buddy for this. High vision! She and LGX look, breathe and live their characters. It’s so natural that their quirks become the characters’ trademark gestures. I am not saying it’s a masterpiece but it did a great job to love its audience back.

Part of XZ’s entire charm is because of the lead actor looking like he does, all broad and majestic. You want your last male primitive god to look like he is the MAN in the room. It’s the reason that the guy makes both MF and FJ look like boys ( nothing wrong with that, their characters are quite young compared to XZ). He is so omnipresent in the screen as ML that no one really looks worthy of being SL’s apple of the eye except him. That charisma with the totally non stereotypical characteristics ( happy to be male wife to my warrior queen) is such a delight.
