Im only at ep 1 and I started watching this show without looking it up. I thought it's just gonna be a historical drama with politics. Halfway through ep1, I got the feeling that there will be some fantasy element, but I didnt expect that it's a zombie flick XD. Maybe if I didnt skip the intro, I wouldnt be so surprised.
Similar concept, nerd-looking protagonist who can actually fight. This is more light-hearted with some comedy aspects but like most bully-revenge webtoon, it starts off with just fighting bullies then later escalates to fighting real criminals.
Lol welcome to school bully themed korean stories. Especially rampant in korean webtoons. Some people even think…
The point is, it happens but not as common and not as violent as some viewers/readers think just because many kdramas and other korean medium portray it that way.
These guys punch each other, almost kill each other, come to school drunk and high in broad daylight and nobody…
Lol welcome to school bully themed korean stories. Especially rampant in korean webtoons. Some people even think this is normal in korean high school XD
My theory is that Yeong Su "attentioned" herself. The plan all along was to raise the kids outside the facility as an experiment for something. Well that's just my guess based on what the "mother" said that it was Yeong Su's plan all along. OR Yeong Su really didnt know anything and the people behind the secret training facility let the kids grow up outside as an experiment.
A little bittersweet but mostly good vibes melodrama. The constant theme of the show is that the ideal situation, scenario or event wont always be realistic so you just have to move on and live with it.
It was interesting to see the main actor playing a timid salary man when I have just recently watched trillion game and in that show he was a charismatic businesses man. And the child who played the daughter did an amazing job portraying a bubbly 7 year old.
I havent watched many parenting focused jdramas but I enjoyed most of them so far. The story is different but this drama gave me the same feels as stepmother blues.
I cant believe eagle-eyed viewers were correct that the secretary is the culprit. They saw the mole on the hand who pushed Hee Joo off the cliff XD, I wonder if that was an intended clue by the writers.
I love that the ending was not rushed and they gave the viewers an epilogue-like final episode. The main characters have good chemistry and it's amusing to see how their earlier kiss scenes looked awkward but towards the end of the drama, they were kissing like a real couple.
If there's anything negative about the show is that sometimes it does become draggy, so I just skip forward when it happens lol. 40-episode historical cdramas do tend to be draggy that's why I have dropped many, but I did finished this one. I think they did overused the "serious argument/fight between the mains" event, it felt like they had falling-off and made up 5x throughout the show.
But overall, I still enjoyed this drama. While not perfect, I think it's one of the decent historical cdrama that came out in the past 2 years.
The anime adaptation is currently airing but it's kinda badly produced. So I watched this live action instead. And I gotta say, this was better than I thought. Like most jdrama, the acting is a bit exaggerated like they are mimicking anime characters but I can forgive that because the actors did a good job making the show interesting. Also 1 hour an episode is rare for jdramas nowadays, you can tell this drama has more budget than average. Hoping for season 2, it seems they kept the ending open for it. But it's probably not gonna be anytime soon because they need to wait for more manga material to adapt. I think the last arcs were mostly live action original. I guess I'll just have to wait.
Quite a unique and interesting drama. I have come across the manhwa many times but I never got around reading it. Maybe I'll read it now. Kinda wish they gave more closure what happened to Na Il-deung. We didnt even get to see what happened to him and his relationship with his family.
This drama is more enjoyable than I thought. Wish it had 1 or 2 more episodes. The ending was pretty open-ended although we kinda know what will happen next. The actors who played Aoi, Sora and Hikaru did really well portraying their characters. The web of romance between the characters really gave off the feeling of a shoujo manga, but after checking, turns out this is an original, which is sad because I would totally read the manga. I kinda wished they didnt include shunichiro's loveline though. Being an anime/manga fan for decades, I've desensitized myself with weird or unconventiona japanese story progression, but seeing it in live action feels kinda off.
Overall this drama is quite unique. It's a mother-daughter drama with a pinch of romance. Wish we had more sora and hikaru moments. Seems like the writer/director dont want a full romance approach. But it's fine. Still an 8/10 drama.
It's pretty much the most common trope in Korean (or even in general) romcoms that one of the leads has a hidden,…
That's why I said it's more of an exaggeration and a meme because there are definitely instances where the childhood friend wins even in japanese stories. But in korean medium, it's more noticeable in manhwas because live action dramas announce their main casts so it's not really a mystery who the male/female lead ends up with.
But anyway, this conversation is already quite far from my original comment. I was mainly talking about friends or highschool acquaintances reuniting after a decade when the female lead have recently broken up with her boyfriend and the male lead having a secret crush on her all this time. That specific premise, not exactly just about being childhood friends. Because I swear, the last two dramas I've finished were exactly like this, and the those dramas also have business/corporate themes. But they werent exactly childhood friends like how it is portrayed in this drama.

Nah, definitely applies to korean dramas as well. I can name a few just off the top of my head. Think of a plot point in a drama where a childhood friend appears (sometimes also ex gf) which makes the female lead jealous because of how close she is to the male lead or how much she knows about him. You can probably name a few yourself. Definitely less in chinese dramas though. Chinese writers dont mind a straightforward childhood friend romance.

The childhood friend trope is definitely common. But they tend to be the 2nd lead. In the anime/manga community, this is a meme which even authors and writers are aware about. It's that "the childhood friend nevers wins" but of course that's just an exaggeration for the lols.
That said, Im definitely not new to the childhood friend trope, Im just amazed how the last 3 dramas I've watched share a similar premise.
Lol this is the 3rd drama I've watched in a row where the ML has a secret crush on the FL for more than a decade and he meets the FL again after her relationship failed.
The premise is very similar to "the best day of my life" which was the cdrama I watched before this. Honestly even though premise is cliché, I enjoyed both dramas XD. The pacing is really good. Usually I get bored of cdramas after 20 episodes because the story gets dragged on but this drama didnt feel slow to me. If there's one thing negative I can say about this drama is that, the way they wrote the ML and his crush towards the FL made him a tiny bit creepy. It was more natural in "the best day of my life". But since FL didnt find it creepy I guess it's fine lol. It does align more to his introverted personality. Anyway, sometimes Im in the mood for cute light-hearted dramas with nothing too serious going on and this scratched that itch. Giving this an 8.5
Lol the premise is almost the same as an old anime I watched in the past. Their parents also died in a plane crash and he was left with 3 sisters. But the main difference is, in this drama, the sisters are triplets.
