it's sad that this doesn't have a 8+ general score because it deserves it. it perfectly encapsulated the core parts of the manhwa, despite being 8 episodes and 25 mins per episode.
and i know that people don't always read the manhwas of adaptations like this, but it's so disingenuous for people to critique yechan's childishness as a character when that's how he's always been IN the manhwa.
Ikuo was done bad imo. He came in late when everyone already formed a companionship and in the last episode the…
what's more crazy is that people on twt are calling him disingenuous after confessing to dai after being rejected by kazuto, like what do they want him to do??? stay down bad for one man who he already knows he has no shot with?? and yeah, dai is already committed to shun, but ikuo thought he had to get those feelings across even though he probably knows he'd get rejected. it's just crazy to me. especially since there's no specific indicator of the number of days passing, which is one of my major critiques of the show.
okay after letting it sit for a bit, i have some (minor) critiques. i wish they could have shown a scene with…
i feel like if they had 2 more episodes, all of these plotholes would have been resolved. especially the one with jihyun's mom. homegirl really never replied to any of his texts but showed up (with no physical appearance which was also jarring) to threaten the school board, like huh? 🫤
and yeah that thing about "rich family inheritance pressure" stuff could've been delved into more. so many plotholes that needed resolving.
but still i gave it a 10/10 since i liked it from start to finish.
yeah i actually had a rewatch for this and it changed my rating of it (from an 8 to a 9). guess it needed more time to sit with me. and ngl they're the only kbl this year that had a good release. everything else just messy, especially that one kbl trending with a microcheating trope 💀
after episode 12, i think this solidifies itself to be the best season of the show (even if you take recency bias into account). like y'all can say what you want about season 3, but i think the production did a great job putting all of these complex individuals with very distinguishing traits and personalities on the show. like yeah, okay, maybe there's a possibility no endgame couple happens... who cares? it's a reality dating show. y'all wanna force romance for the sake of romance so bad that it overlooks the reality part. dating, even when artificial in a show with a controlled environment, is not supposed to be a pre-destined path for everyone.
okay after letting it sit for a bit, i have some (minor) critiques. i wish they could have shown a scene with jaewon facing his parents, particularly his father. another thing would be, what's the deal with jihyun's mom? why was she not responding to his texts? did i miss something? that part was off-putting and its weird that there was no resolution regarding that plothole. 😠'cause i can clearly remember that it was jihyun's parents that took it to the school board regarding his accident. like... huh? girl, so confusing
