This drama in particular had attracted a lot of daipais and attention because of their interesting scenes and beautiful sceneries. To be fair, both Cheng Lei and Xu RuoHan are considered less-well-known actors, they’re what you consider “let the work speaks for itself” because they don’t have big fandoms to guarantee viewership and don’t have credentials to guarantee adds/commercial investment. This is a good way to show people that this is a serious project that deserves a watch. IMO, I think it’s the matter of the role. Xiao Jue doesn’t give him much to do because he’s an aloof character. I think it’s very hard to act because there’s a fine line between overdone and underdone. Overdoing it and it would be too forced and greasy. Under doing it and it would be a walking vase, which happens to most actors nowadays. He gives Xiao Jue personality and charisma that’s very natural. Emotional scenes are very well acted. Jinan gives him so much more rooms to showcase his acting ability and versatility.
