Oh that was supposed to be an additional reply for my previous comment under gmat6594 post, not your. I must have clicked the wrong reply button, My Bad~ lol

I feel that the rewritten script for the drama changed everything plus they’ve cropped and edited out all the parts that make sense of how characters behaved. Drama can be misleading, with editing they can manipulate audience to think certain ways. But this one is just some terrible writing.

How can they forget one of the major events that built up a solid storyline? They were just simply not care. If they put that in, people will feel more connection between two states and the importance of side characters.
Bravo 👏 I like your analysis! Finally, someone understands what’s truly going on with the production. They…
No thank you for pointing out such great details about how YQ characters have been so much ruined compared to the book for the purpose of boosting the audience’s sympathy for the leads. Honestly, I don’t feel bad for the leads but more for the side characters. YQ has no appropriate storyline or character’s purpose but just revolves around that female lead. Come on, he’s handsome and talented, it’s weird that he keeps sticking to FL when he can just date anybody in his homeland. They can write better than this! But I still like that he was able to portray different shades of emotion and phases. And you’re right, they just used him as an accessory for the leads. He deserves better. If you watch his other drama, and you’ll see the solid lead vibe that he processes.
I'm not surprised by how mediocre this drama turns out to be. Since the first episode, I was already baffled by…
Bravo 👏 I like your analysis! Finally, someone understands what’s truly going on with the production. They did write his character so badly to help make the audience feel sad for the leads.
Too focused on the leads' ending that I totally forgot Yueqin's hair changed in the last couple of episodes. He looks handsome in it. I feel like the script did him dirty because, according to the book, he's not a bad guy, and the end of the drama also shows that he was not bad after he gained back his common sense. But they keep putting all little problems on him and even have such misleading trailers. The war broke out and it was not under his control, but he managed to save the leads a couple of times. Honestly, they all kind of pay back and forth the favors, so no one owns anyone anything. He also did pretty well in his role since he made the audience believe he's the last villain and fear him whenever he appears after he goes mad about the cure plant in ep 27. Like that quiet and slow murderous vibe he gave off. Many people on Weibo said that a lot of his scenes were cut out due to the short episodes, which is why there's a lack of understanding of his character. ((He's supposed to be one of the major characters that’s why they showed him twice and significantly in the intro if compared to CP and Luomei, but the scriptwriter does not know how to connect these stories.)) But honestly, maybe he should seek a role with a fight/martial arts scene because he fits those roles better than this one, based on my experience with his previous Warm on a Cold Night drama, and his gentleness match well with his role in Sweet Teeth. He’s still young and has more times to grow, anticipating his next project!
I still gave this drama a 9 stars but it’s all for the actors of this drama. Everybody has worked hard!
if you are willingly engaging in discussion on the drama, you should be prepared to acknowledge the fair criticism…
Yeah right, you wouldn’t say that if they’re your favorite actors. Well go and criticize your bias so that they could improve. The actors here were doing a great job so no need to rant them down.
I know that drama ending was pretty bad but don’t let the haters (fan of other drama) come and rant this down. The drama is not that bad, y’all know it, but they will take this opportunity and ruin all the hard work that the actors went through. Whether you’re a fan of this drama from the beginning or fan of specific actors, there’s no good to negatively review this. The drama is over but the actors will remain impact by this, so let just support it all if you’re ever care for them. Stop complaining about the character and don’t touch the actors, you will create fan wars. Do you think the actors care about your opinion on whether the script is bad? All they hope is that you’ll like it regardless of the ending. This drama has a huge promotion, the actors will be embarrass if their own fans complain about the drama due to bad script. So let’s not a a fuss over the ending.
How did XiyanGreenTeaPrince die? I thought there was a peace treaty. LOL I sped through so fast.
YQ helped the leads so many times during the war, it would be a shame to let him die. Plus, he lost everyone he ever loves or cares about. That’s worse than dead to me. But if they killed him, there will be no one to make peace between two countries.
I enjoyed the ride cause of the chemistry between ML and FL and because ML has the cutest smile ever. Was the…
Didn't he already found a different flower plant to cure her? That scene was confusing me. Plus based on what I know a couple of eps ago, that plant can only grow in Xiyan. But why did he gave her such a deadly poison to begin with? Why finding the cure so freaking hard? The drama didn’t even try to hide that it’s not his fault, cause she was literally died because of the poison? That’s kinda weird and I don’t really like it. They should have just stick to the book by making him more cold so it would be more convincing.
Don't blame the side characters, but put it on the scriptwriter. It is a 32-eps drama but they put a ton of stories in like those 70-80-ep long dramas, without a good changing point or a good reason for certain events to get involved. Even the story of the leads lacks convincing regarding their revenge and forgiveness. Or like Luomei just instantly like Meilin even though they’re love rival. And pls don't complain about the leads' lack of screen time because it's not true. Don't you see other drama? Side characters' screen time is much more than this one. What is terrible about this drama is that they don't know how to "connect" these stories and characters and make them relevant. I just realize that the writer of this one only wrote 2 drama. Maybe he/she doesn’t have much experience.
I don't know if I'm convinced about this switch to the dark side of SML... I could picture ML do something like…
I think if you pay attention, there are some slight hints about SML characteristics. He’s not bad to begin with, but he does have some craziness. Like when his sister tells the story that he broke his finger to save her, he works with a shaman to rise to the heir, and his facial switches when he finds out who attacked him and Meilin in the cave. But when he’s alone, his thinking is very considerate. So like he’s not bad but he’s weak mentally and could turn dark. I heard that many of his scenes were cut out because there was not enough time to put in; that’s why we can’t see how his crazy character is developing. He’s one of the actors who finished filming the latest, very close times to the leads, but his scenes before today's were not much. Maybe they want to prioritize the CP conflict and revenge first, and that’s totally understandable. Anyway, the writer still missed out on a lot of important stuff about the leads. I wonder if it will ever get resolved or has been resolved, but it is unclear.
YQ was always a dark character, but he used to hide his real face. SML never switched to the dark side. he was…
Wow that was a very negative way to analyze SML character after all these episodes. Has they not show his point of view enough like when he was alone? No one is lying to themself when they’re alone. He’s not bad all the time, but he has a weak soul and could easily be taken into the darkness.
Not only the characters in this drama is crazy, but they carry physical pain quite well. Jinghe went through that paralyzed legs treatment and the fight with CP. Meilin is probably the best at enduring the pain cause the training and whipping scene proved it. AND now YueQin, they sewed/stitched on his back and whipped him, but he just walked around like there was no blood at all. Next episode he’ll chop off his hand and then run around looking for Meilin. Man, this drama is so crazy that no one can top it. I like it lol I hope they'll give it a good wrap at the end. Even if it’s sad, pls make it a reasonable one.
Craziness ranking among the 3 male actors of this drama. 1. Jinghe (Crazy from the beginning but he has been calm down in the past episodes, yet he will soon go crazy again when found out Meilin died lol) 2. Yueqin (Bloodletting lol and he put on those crazy eyes as he was raging with anger through this latest ep, and in the next ep he will chop off his hand. The calm YQ is gone, this one is freaking me out lol) 3. Xuanlie (I thought he was the most crazy when he killed anyone that was in his way but he died too soon lol. Can’t feel much craziness from him.)
And the female leads of this drama is quite crazy too. Maybe no one can top Meilin, and second rank is Luomei.
