There must be a reason why Thai BLs insist on these out of place attempts at comedy. Is it a cultural divide, that I as a European simply can't understand? Normally I wouldn't even comment something like this, because it sounds so arrogant, but I cannot take the continued disappointment anymore.
It says Taiwanese on the tin but it's obviously Chinese. The actors have really good chemistry. I was especially impressed by the actor playing Xu Xianlang. The yearning was palpable. It felt like a nice, light watch without relying too heavily on tropes. I was very pleasantly surprised that both main characters were gay. Not just gay for one person. The fake kisses however were unnecessary and took away from an overall pretty well done short drama/mini series.
This starts of quite generic but gets so much much better in the later episodes. Especially when it focuses more on Bai Yu Tang and Huo Ling Long. Also why does Zuo Ye always destroy me with his performances?
Damn, those are some tragic subtitles. Nevertheless Yan Zi Xian is one hell of an actor. No matter how much the drama might be lacking, it's a delight watching him giving it his all.
The only genre in which "somehow he returned" makes sense. As much sense as one can apply to xianxia. Anyway. This drama actually survived on vibes and aesthetics.
