Do I gotta watch the first and second season in order to understand this? I kind of want to watch this cuz of…
Leo Wu's character is not that prominent in season 1, and he is not there in season 2. Still, I would watch both, and you don't need the backstory to watch in order. Personally, I liked Season 2 more because of the close-knit family ties and more human touch, but Season 1 is a masterpiece of its own. I can't think of any better Chinese dramas out there.

I'm really scared to watch this bc I'm afraid it'll ruined S1 for me. Is it illogical? Probably. Will I watch…
This is probably one of the best sequels ever made. It doesn't have any direct link to the first series Story-wise. Personally, it was better than NIF-1 for me. What I found lacking in NIF-1 was the human development of characters as we don't see enough of the human bond between the dead characters and those alive and hell-bent on revenge. We see them in flashback but it feels lacking that human touch. However, In NIF-2 the characters are much more fleshed out. What it lacks compared to NIF-1 is in the mind games and machinations. However, I felt that it balanced out both départements pretty well with the touch of very subtle romance. Romantic relationships as well as filial and brotherly relationships were well depicted. For me, it couldn't have been done any better and ranks in the top 3 Chinese dramas ever made. However, you need to have enough patience to sit through as it takes some time to take off.

It's weird how there is always a valid reason for women's infidelity while being in a marriage in the name of so-called love and finding true love. So much hypocrisy in the name of women's empowerment. Why not get a divorce first and then go and find your true love?

This drama shows how a morally corrupt person like Zhang Yang screwed over the life of Xu Yi. I honestly don't think he has any redeeming qualities. Worse is how Li Er got roped in with the guy and they showed how loving they are. I wonder what will happen after some time when they get together. I am pretty sure Li Er will live a miserable life if they do get married and he will have endless schemes to fool her.

The emperor is despicable. The Drama glorifies his actions just because he is the emperor. No one seems to be bothered by his actions, and he made Fu Heng's life hell, even making his wife pregnant later. Above all, Ying Luo has been portrayed as a heroic lady who can't stand injustice. She is nothing but a vain woman knowing the emperor separated her from Fu Heng and caused injustice to him again and again. They are a Pair of birds that flock together and truly belong to each other causing other people misery.

Title My Happy Ending Spoiler
She didn't even know
What do you mean she didn't know? She was raped and had a child, and you are telling me she didn't realize that there was a possibility that the child could be from the rapist? Why do these dramas whitewash everything? Her not telling that she was raped and there is a possibility the child is not her husband's is the starting of everything that happened. She was the reason her husband had to go through so much pain and now she is going to start over anew while her husband is dead. And here we are celebrating a woman who overcame difficulties to start a new at the cost of her husband's life.

"I see what you mean, I think both options are viable. I personally liked the way the show ended, it says a lot about the love one can have for a non-biological child, it's also about redemption and second chances on some level." There were many instances where they explored the love one can have for a non-biological child. Still, in most of them, the non-biological child is either from a previous marriage, adopted, or a child born after a clear Separation. Very few have explored the relationship with a child born from a wife's infidelity and in most of them either the couple separated, or it ended tragically. while the drama tries to paint a positive picture of human nature through the virtues of forgiveness, letting go, and acceptance of the current situation, it fails to address the basic instinct of human nature, especially for women. If a woman cheats while being married, it is over for the husband as it indicates she has let go of the relationship. It's a behavioral trait and has been well explored. The wife will try to hide it as she remains afraid to let go of a stable life and the societal scorn she might receive after the affair is exposed and it is not because she still loves her husband. Therefore, it doesn't make any sense for their family of three to exist solely for the child.

> But he wasn't ABUSIVE ABUSIVE!I mean, he raped her though. That's in part why she cheated, she was looking for…
I understand what you are saying, it's just that we don't see enough reasons for her to remain with her husband after everything is over. Even if the husband insists at the end that they stay as a family together, she should have let him go if she really cared for him. Initially, he would be in great pain, but time will heal the pain, and he might have found someone else. She is not only denying him his chance of happiness but also, she isn't thinking for the sake of the child. For the Child, it would have been the best option for her to stay with the lover as they would be a complete family, and she wouldn't have to be uncomfortable with her past actions as the lover also loves her and their daughter. If what she was doing was out of guilt, it truly would not ease their relationship in the future. Since she now has a job and a lover who can support her financially, she should have moved on. I think at this point it's the writer's psychology and fetish which is prevalent in Japanese series involving wife's infidelity that gets a win.

> But he wasn't ABUSIVE ABUSIVE!I mean, he raped her though. That's in part why she cheated, she was looking for…
You are just one of those people who is looking to justify why she cheated. After the marital rape happened, she should have gone for a divorce or police or whatever you suggested and not cheat with someone who she is now dreaming of having a relationship with. Now let's say it was a moment of misjudgment and emotional venting on her part that she cheated, but why would she pass the child as her husband's when she knows it's not his? She clearly would not tell her husband any time soon if he hadn't found it by himself. Do you understand how soul-crushing it can be to learn that the child you were expecting for 10 months and then raised with love for quite some time is not his own but someone else's child with his wife? Now if he had committed suicide as he was planning in a moment of indecision whose fault would it be? Everyone will say oh he was a weak man and chose to suicide to escape reality, but similar stuff does happen in real life. The truth is short short-term pain is better than long-term one, and he should have cut her out of his life.

Well, it comes down to who's perspective you see from. The drama tried to show it from both the husband's and wife's perspectives. However, they failed miserably. We don't know enough reasons as to why and how the husband lost his shine and will to face life slowly and why the wife cheated even though she had a happy family and loved her husband in the beginning. At the end of the drama, you are left with a bitter taste as it solves none of the problems and adds a few more. There are not enough reasons for the family of three to live together. From the wife's perspective, the guilt of infidelity can't be the reason to continue to live a miserable life with her husband where her husband has a ready-made excuse to ignore his wife in the future. The husband's choice also leaves a question as to how he will accept the whole event in the future. The best choice would have been if the husband had moved on from the wife to find someone who truly loved and cared for him and the wife would live with the other guy with their daughter.

In real life, FL would not get back to stay with ML. She had already ended her love and relationship with him…
Yes. There is a saying that when women cheat on their husbands, they no longer consider their relationship anymore or the husbands become redundant. It's just really baffling that she would try to pass her illegitimate child as her husbands after she cheated. She was never remorseful of her actions before she gave birth. In reality, such relationships won't last long. Men are territorial animals, they will never accept an illegitimate child from their wives while being married. In the long term, it will be detrimental to the child as he will lack proper fatherly love and her parents' indifference. I watched a Thai drama where a woman was in appropriated on their wedding night by her husband's friend when she mistook the room while drunk. She gets pregnant with a child not knowing that it is an illegitimate child and later she gives birth to another child for her husband. The husband later finds out that the older son is not his whom he loves. In a flash, he changed completely from a loving husband and father to a maniac. He gave the wife a chance to divorce and take the older son away, but she stayed since she loved her husband. This created a lifetime of tragedy for the wife as the husband became violent and no longer cared for the wife and had endless affairs all the while despising the older child and his wife. In a moment of greed and lust, the friend destroyed a loving family.

I honestly did not hate the show too much because of the ML. Yeah, some may say he is a "simp" or "cuck", but…
Well, that was expected from a Japanese drama. No real consequence of a heinous act such as cheating for the FL and the subsequent deception. If it had been the other way around and ML had cheated on the FL, it would have been scorched earth for the ML. Check Hirugao and Watashi no Otto: Ano Ko no Koibito. It's just double standards. I would have preferred if the ML had moved on and found someone else and had a family of his own rather than raising someone else's child. TV series like this are completely detached from reality. How can you sleep beside someone after knowing that they cheated on you and had borne a child that you are now supposed to raise? The daughter will be the reminder of her mother's cheating for her whole life. TV series like this Romanticize female cheating all the while blaming everything on the male counterpart. The best ending would have been the reunion of the cheaters while giving the child a complete family. The relationship after cheating will never remain the same 'and the FL might have to bear the indifference and possible future infidelity in case the husband cheats in a moment of indecision. We will never know what will happen in the future.

None of this would have happened if she had initially told her husband the truth and that her daughter wasn't his. What a stupid drama and she claims she loved her husband deeply. If you love someone, you tell them your flaws.

The husband is in immense pain. He is a good actor. I feel that he will either reconcile or forsake everything for the child's sake since he loves her very much. That's why the name of the drama is I guess "My precious". It's about the child, and whatever happens, the Child is innocent. I personally would prefer he divorces and moves on to have a family of his own. I just can't digest the fact of reconciliation when you know that someone you love and share the bed with can cheat and do such a cruel thing. It's heartbreaking and makes you numb over time and eventually, you become detached from family and will despise the other person over the long term.

I saw your comment and read your reply. You are just an apologist for heinous acts such as cheating and then put it under the rug. Your comment when you mentioned that she just slept with the Ryo guy one time shows your position. I am not going to reply any further as I understand your point now clearly.

Well, let's say he is a rapist. Now, why would she live with her rapist husband rather than getting a divorce? Instead, she went to have an illicit relationship with her lover. Now let's say she wanted to have revenge on her husband and vent her frustration by sleeping with another man, which she did. Then again, she could have left after having an affair, but she didn't and lived with her heinous rapist husband while letting him raise her illegitimate daughter using his money. I don't understand the logic here. What am I missing? Who is heinous and who should get a retribution? I guess that husband got his retribution when his wife slept with another man while letting him raise her illegitimate daughter whom he loved deeply. What about the wife, is she not a heinous villain and doesn't she deserve retribution?

About the rape thing, while I in no way justify the forceful consummation, he admitted his guilt for his act to her and sometimes work pressure boiled over in his personal life. The best the wife should have done is to get a divorce if she is not in love with her husband anymore and then move on. But what she did was unforgivable and deserves serious retribution.

The FL is trash. No matter how you justify, it doesn't change the fact that she is a cheater while being married to a guy who loves her and later, she also thinks that she loved her husband. Now, she can go and be with her lover. The husband will find better partners, but it won't be easy to move on once you love someone. He has been cheated on and raised and loved someone else's child with the very person he loved and married. It will be tough for him to take and move on.
