I'm on a rewatch, and man, I just LOVE, LOVE LOVE the Changlin family. All of them are just rockstars and amazing,…
While I am a bit conflicted, I might have to put this one just above Nirvana in Fire 1. I watched NIF-1 first and thought it would be impossible for any drama to beat NIF-1 and when they announced NIF-2, I thought they are making a mistake and NIF-2 will get heavy backlash. So, it did, mainly due to the casting of Huang Xiao Ming, even before a single episode aired. However, all the backlashes went away after the drama was aired complete. However, despite being a brilliant drama, people felt it just fell short of season 1 and I thought so too at first. However, I liked the drama immensely. Overtime, I had newfound appreciation for this instalment, as all the characters are so much more developed and multifaceted. Even the villains were human and had justifiable reason for their acts, especially Yuanqi and the prime minister. My favourite character was Pingjing. The actor was such a breath of fresh air and acted brilliantly. I just couldn't take my mind off the subtility the drama portrayed. Everything was natural, from set design to music and lighting. While choice between NIF-1 and NIF-2 can get down to personal preference, it is undeniable that both the dramas belong to the highest order of Chinese drama.

can u convince me to watch it, I’m unsure if I should
Both of the instalments in the series have some of the most incredible music score in all of the Chinses drama land. You can watch this short video that sums up the subtle relationship between the main pairs in the second part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skLfDKkAyp4.

Right??? its even above untamed and Jol, my 2 fav cdramas and im js like...
I can't honestly remember a Chinses drama better than Nirvana in Fire series. However, it might have something to do with the Genre and personal preference. Nirvana in Fire is like a combination of Traditional ancient Chinese drama with some elements of Wuxia mixed in to it. But both the instalments excel in handling human elements like empathy, love, brotherhood, revenge. Recently The legend of Zang Hai was hailed as one of the very best Cdramas. Although I felt it was a good drama, I just couldn't associate it with the best cdramas. Over the years, of all the Cdramas I have watched, I have found only a handful of drama that have left deep impression on me. Here are some of them Nothing Gold Can Stay, Go Ahead, Ten miles of peach blossoms and Nirvana in fire series and may be story of ming lan.

I think these were the roles of their lives, for both of them. I don't think there's any of their work out there…
Definitely try the season 2. One of the best Cdramas out there.

As good as both untamed and JOL were, Nirvana in Fire stands alone at the top. Now you have to be joking to compare POJ to Nirvana in fire. They are two totally different dramas.

You should. But it is different to almost any drama made in China. There is an authentic feel to it, not synthetic. From the set to lighting, you will feel that you belonged to that era. Having watched most of the recent and old cdramas, I can confidently say that this is probably the best cdrama out there. However, you will need patience as it is a very long drama. I personally liked the second instalment as much as this one. The little connection between first and second instillments won't matter if you watch them as standalone dramas. Since this one has almost no romantic developments, I would suggest you try the second one as that one has more subtle romantic developments and human characters are much more fleshed out.

is there any romance ???
Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. It is one of the finest dramas ever made and probably the best Cdrama out there. Of course, the CGI is outdated, but the story is top notch. The second instalment is also as good as this one. But you will need patience.

Title Climax
this westernised slop is why currently people are abandoning Kdrama for Cdramas.
Cdramas have always been better. They just didn't have the same exposure as the Kdramas and KPOP also played a big part for Kdramas to go international. Cdramas are more intricate (albeit not all of them) and grander. I have yet to come across a drama series like nirvana in fire series in Kdrama. However, I feel Cdramas have lost a bit of their shine recently as more and more historical Cdramas are being made.

This entire sequence when he didn't watch the video just because his wife told him not to and kept delaying it…
And to think that the wife's brother was killed because of her affair is even more unsettling. The wife is even more of a scumbag.

Actually, it was a really smart move on her part — and even very realistic — to break up that way without…
I didn't say "Cheating" explicitly for this drama, but the general trend in Japanese dramas. In this drama there is no "Cheating" per se. But you are left with a bitter feeling. Just as he didn't appreciate her effort, she also didn't realize his contributions. If they do get back together, it doesn't justify the drama's theme.

Title Then You Try Making It! Spoiler
If they do get back together, then this show is a waste. After the guy realizes his shortcomings and learns to cook, he should not his pursue his ex. Now that he has improved himself, he should choose someone with better character and understanding as she doesn't offer anything new or better. and not worth his effort.

Enough for what? They don't need to be together, now that he has learned to cook the soup.

Title Then You Try Making It! Spoiler
Actually, it was a really smart move on her part — and even very realistic — to break up that way without…
Her intention was never to make him realize his shortcomings, rather she was fed up with the life she had with him. Instead of communicating, she chose to end the relationship and then had a new boyfriend. For him it was good that she broke up with him. Now that he has realized his shortcomings, they should never end up together. If they somehow make them come together like all the jdramas where cheating is normalized, then it would be a waste of show.

Nirvana in fire is much more intricate. Whereas Nirvana in fire 2 is more balanced. To be honest the two dramas…
You have probably seen something else. If anything, as a standalone drama the second drama is on par with the best Chinese dramas out there.

Title The King's Woman Spoiler
There are several Chinese dramas with themes similar to this drama, namely that the emperor's woman has an affair…
What do you mean by historical greatness. There was nothing great when it came to the imperial family. If the modern Chinese movies glorify Yang Guifei where the king cuckolds his own son, how can there be any greatness in it?

Jae min should not have killed himself at the end. What's done is done, enjoy life with a new chic and get divorced with the Yeong Joo, his family had enough money to exonerate him anyway.
