I'm going to finish it. I'm on episode 16, but after watching Ruyi, Empress, Yanxi etc, this just isn't doing anything for me. I'm sure when it first came out it was mind blowing. I had fomo when everyone recommended it to me because I love Qing dynasty dramas. The costumes are great, hairstyles are historically accurate (even more so than Yanxi and Ruyi). The storyline of Emperor Kangxi's sons is pretty accurate for the most part (history nut here). I just can't with the Ruoxi character storyline and character personality. You're trying to convince me that even with a cheat sheet (knowing the outcome because she's from the future) she willingly chose 8th prince out of all of them? Besides the face that he's her sisters husband, she knows he's the goofiest of goofballs when it comes to Kangxi Emperors sons. The guy got the worst of the punishments because he thought he was above the program. Then she has the audacity to be sad when he doesn't give up his ambition for her. Yeah, that's exactly how it played out girlfriend. Its all just too messy with her weird storyline mixed into the already very chaotic drama going on with the sons. She literally was fighting with her bf in the first episode for cheating then goes on to covet and fall for her sisters husband. I know! Her sister doesn't love him but still, it's corny and ugly. I love Shi shi, she's one of my fav actress but this character just isn't my favorite. Also, why was 4th Prince always throwing himself on her? It wasn't cute or shmexy, it was giving borderline sexual assault and aggression. Yuck. Why was it written for her to be so forgiving of 14th Prince after he pretty much assaulted her and abused her because he was angry she didn't want his poor sad little 8th brother? See these are the things that dont add up for me. So many contradictory moments. So much naive choices. I would definitely consider this more fantasy drama than anything else. Of course this is just my personal opinion. I will finish it, but I don't think my mind will change after. I'll stick to Ruyi, Yanxi, Empresses, and Dreaming back to Qing Dynasty.

You can't tell me nothing negative about this drama. I will not tolerate slander. This is my perfect drama. 10/10 🌹

I feel like every episode so far I'm being thrown into the middle of a scene and I just have to wing it. Was this drama censored or scenes cut? It's very choppy. There are 20 new characters every episode. One minute it's going smoothly, the next it's another random side quest plot twist. I can't remember everyone's name and purpose. Also, FL actress is literally giving NOTHING. No emotion on her face. Tears? Yes, with blank face. Anger? Yes, with blank face. "I just love the taste of nothing". I give her points for doing her own fight choreo tho. I was literally yelling at the screen for her to show some sort of emotion or charisma. "Come on girl give me something!" Lol Nothing. ML, uh he was okay, nothing to write home about. Handsome guy. Chemistry between leads, nowhere to be found. Now I gave it a fair chance, I do not know the leads (first drama with them) and have never watched any previous work. At the end of the day it just fell short for me so I'm dropping it (rare for me). Putting it in the DO NOT REVIVE pile. Sns. Visual FX and OST are good. *Just my honest opinion*

This will definitely become my new comfort re-watch. IMHO it's just that good. I wish express was available today.

Give us 2 episodes back!! 😩 Today's episode wasn't enough. I need more. Changyu fight scene was epic! Had me kicking my feet & yelling. So good!

The battle scenes are 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 Cinematography once again is TOP TIER! Beautifully done.

I love actors/actresses who can cry good. I know if they can make me cry by their own tears, they're top tier. TXW is a good crier. Brought me to tears more than once. So good!

I cried so much this last episode. Both those Sui brothers are despicable. That younger one tho, he makes me sick to my stomach. A little frustrated that Xie Zheng didn't immediately send his soldiers to find Channing the second he found Changyu. He literally gave them time to find her *pulls hair*! Ugh it's so good! Time goes by so slow. 4 am needs to get here faster.

I keep saying I'll wait and let them build up to at least 6 episodes. So far... I have lost every single attempt and watched. 😂 Now I have to wait.

That guy literally wants to 🍇 her and fans are romanticizing him. Disturbing and gross. Yeah, the actor is handsome but the character is despicable. I'm no prude but there is a line to be drawn when a character is openly down with SA.

Also, Changyu is such a badass! I can't wait to see more of her fighting scenes. I love her character. TXW is such a gem! 💎

I need moreeeeeeee! Also, not my Ning Ning! 😭 Kill everyone involved with her kidnapping. Can we just buy express now?? Lol

So far so good! Fantastic cinematography! Very beautiful and detailed. Loving TXW! ZLH on the screen again is so exciting! The OST is perfect so far.

I think what I actually meant is she deserves to be in more top billed dramas. As a top billed FL like Bai Lu and Du Du. Her acting is very good.

Honestly, I think it would've been better without the romance. Maybe a good friends helping friends instead. The romance was a nuisance in the flow of the plot. It really just got in the way of things *cough* Xiao Huai Jin *cough*. He was kind of annoying in the last 6 episodes. Bai Lu of course delivered like she always does. Such a treat to watch her bring her character to life. She has not let me down. One of the best criers in dramas and can always pull the tears out of me. The Emperor was such a lame, I'm beginning to think most of them are/were. It was pretty good, Majority of the cases were interesting. But, I still think Coroner's Diary is the better crime solving drama so far. Solid 8 for me.

8.5 - Very good. A bit confusing here and there. Chemistry between leads was great. OST was perfect. Can we have a moment of appreciation for the costumes and jewelry!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So beautiful and well thought out. Mr. Bei was my favorite!

I don't like the latest case. It's boring and obvious. FL and ML keep figuring things out in a "Captain Obvious" sort of way. It's actually kind of funny. They're busy finding miniscule obvious clues yet bypassing actual things that matter. Like we really went through a whole "Where was the rope tied?" experiment before anyone even wondered where that big round stone rock went. 😂 They have us believing in FL that she's this amazing investigator with the help of Mr. I can see it all play out in my mind, yet this case has them looking like two dingbats trying to put 2 & 2 together. Yeah. I'm ready for the next case. The previous cases were interesting and exciting, I hope it doesn't fizzle out.
