HELPPPP!! I cannot get thru the first 5 episodes. I love Liu Yuning and I want to see him in the mask. BUT THE FEMALE LEAD IS SOOOO ANNOYINGLY STUPID. She cannot do dingy cutesy, it just comes off as annoying. But maybe that's the gist? Idk not for me. I'm already exhausted with her. It's not cute at all. (Reminder this is just my opinion) I keep dropping it after each episode. I tell myself I'll give it another chance and I'm annoyed all over again. Love Game in Eastern Fantasy was way more entertaining from start to finish. No one does dingy cute as good as Esther Yu. LYT is just not it for me. My guy Chang Long ❤️ He was the only one saving this show for me. He'll always be funny and a favorite actor of mine. But *sigh* maybe I'll finish... Maybe I won't. Right now, I'm going to opt out. Enjoy!
I enjoyed it very much. I'm not a big fan of LXY but his acting and storyline in this was so good. His makeup wasn't too white, which is always his downfall imo. MZY can do no wrong in my eyes. She's such a good actress. Bian Cheng/Mu Wu Xia was a bit of a stick in the mud emotionally. Sad to see that he hasn't elevated much since I've seen him in Ruyi's Royal Love. He is handsome so there was that. Qin Ying was pretty irrelevant lol why was she even there? Mu Wu Yin, typical unloved lovestruck goober. Gao Han played him well. Empress LV deserved more than death. Death was too kind. They should've done to her what they did to that one wench in The Prisoner of Beauty - cut her nose off and made her live with it in shame. But noooo, lame death for the main villain. 🙄 I agree, the ending was BAD and rushed. The flower grew in a few days, dumb. He woke up and met her under a tree, dumb. Thanks for nothing. Lol Anyway, up to episode 35 it was pretty good for me. Minus a few blah moments. Episode 36 was trash. All in all I enjoyed enough to binge it.
ML: Boring, Annoying, Stubborn FL: Love LYX but her Voice over was terrible, she saved this character from being a total snooze fest
This was my first time watching ML actor, and it was enough for me to NEVER want to watch him as a ML again. No emotion. No chemistry. This was the longest 40 episodes, I had to force myself to finish after ep. 20. My girl LYX deserved a better ML. I rated this a solid 5.0... only thing I enjoyed was the female OST. The siblings arc was too long and made the love arc feel weird. Everyone treating the father, Director Lu, like crap was annoying. He was trying and even apologized. Of course everyone felt remorse AFTER he died. 🙄 The ending was weird when FL acted like ML sister after finishing the marriage rituals. Was that necessary? Kind of gross. I did LOVE Prince Rui & Shujun's story. Snow Kong needs to play more FL's, she's beautiful and I love her acting. 2ML was just there being the lovesick fool and ended the show a lovesick fool. 😂 Poor guy. By the end I was tired of Lu Chang, a mix of both the character and the actor. Yea, definitely would not recommend. There are WAY better shows out there. **My opinion**
This was a very good drama. LYN is so perfect for historical dramas. I'm glad he finally got a happy ending. 😄 Not a fan of the FL's acting but she was tolerable. Would recommend and rewatch. 👏🏽
It was decent. Certainly not the best but it's worth a watch. Loved the song that played every time FL was with SML. SML has a lazy eye and that irked me a bit in his close up scenes. He was a bad guy so that also helped me not to like him. 😄 Big fan of Zhang Ling He 👍 Especially, his period costume dramas. The miscommunication or no communication between leads was frustrating. But in the end FL came to her senses. I definitely won't be doing a re-watch but it was good enough for one and done.
I'm enjoying it so far. Loving the Li Qi character. The actor portraying Puyi is adorable. The eunuchs had some nerve but it was all about survival during that time. A terrible time for imperial rule and it's followers. Knowing it's all coming to an end...

He was chosen by Empress Dowager Cixi because the previous emperor had no sons with his Empress (Longyu). The Dowagers are all of his "adopted" mothers. Empress Longyu aka the one who sold him out for 4 million taels is his "actual" adopted mother in the palace.
