i rate films based on how they make me feel. what i mean by 'feel' is how they make me sad, happy, excited, or triggered. if a film makes me experience all kinds of emotions to the fullest, then i'll rate it a 10.
iyen’s rating system
⭐ 10/10 - peak cinema
- absolute masterpiece. the plot is fire, the pacing is just right, and the characters? chef’s kiss.
- emotionally wrecked or mind-blown. either way, it‘s an experience.
- rewatchable af. might even force others to watch it.
⭐ 9/10 - almost perfect, but something annoyed me
- still top-tier, but there‘s that one thing—maybe a slow arc, unnecessary romance, or a character that got on your nerves.
- would still recommend it, but with a “just ignore insert flaw here” disclaimer.
⭐ 8/10 - solid, but not life-changing
- great plot, but either the execution was a little off or the characters weren’t giving enough.
- enjoyable, but not an all-time favorite.
- might rewatch scenes, but not the whole thing.
⭐ 7/10 - really good, but meh moments exist
- entertaining, but either cliché, predictable, or just missing something.
- might watch it again and finish out of loyalty… or might rage-quit.
⭐ 6/10 - had a big potential, but wasted it
- could’ve been so good, but either bad writing, weird pacing, or a disappointing ending ruined it.
- good but probably won’t remember much in a few years
⭐ 5/10 - decent-decent story, but the whole thing just asasfjfwaifa
- the plot was interesting enough to keep watching, but the characters were so dull, annoying, or just lacking depth.
- i remember most of it, but not in a “wow“ way, more like “yeah, that happened.“
- had good moments but not enough to carry the whole thing.
⭐ 4/10 - actually a good story, but the characters ruined it
- low rating because the leads were frustrating, the chemistry was off, or the execution just wasn’t it.
- still, the plot had potential, and that‘s the only reason it‘s not lower.
- might remember it more than a 6/10 drama, but not for the right reasons.
- lowest rating i could give as an appreciation for the actors and staff, it‘s bearable to watch and not the worst thing ever, but i definately wouldn‘t recommend watching it.
