I always feel that dramas add narration in when the acting is not strong enough to convey emotions or moments…
the author also wrote the upcoming drama legend of the female general and some other dramas that might get an adaption soon. one of the novels had a melon of Zhao Lusi and Ding Yuxi being casted
Yushan is so annoying. Gurllll.. have some self-respect. You're not his kind of spicy.
For real, I was trying to watch Episode 19 and she kept on popping up like I'm sorry but who cares. I might hate the character of Zhuang Yushan more than Qiao Lianfang (another antagonist she played in The Sword and the Brocade)
I’m not in favor of torture but this man needs more than the 12 punishments or whatever they called it. One…
I know right, he's so evil and it makes me so angry how he's using one of his mortal enemies, Fu Yunxi, as protection so if anything goes wrong, even if it's not Fu Yunxi's fault, it will be blamed on him. I'll be cheering when he gets killed by Zhuang Hanyan and Fu Yunxi, that'll be the happiest day of my life.
fr like i was already sobbing and then when he came and started going on abt "nobody loves me only you treated…
he's genuinely a deluded person beyond belief, he has successfully tricked himself into believing his own lies. maybe a lifetime ago he loved her, and he thinks that because he loved her, at least in accordance to his perception of love, it justifies anything and everything he does to her. truly disgusting. the difference between the love of zhuang shiyang and yuwen chang'an is so crystal clear yet done so well by the writers. yuwen chang'an represents true love, continuing to love and support her without expecting anything in return, always listening to her and allowing her to do what she desires, and comforting her and being by her side no matter what. meanwhile zhuang shiyang represents obsession, he was so scared of her leaving him for her true love that he crippled her and kept her wheelchair bound and dependent on him for 17 years just so she could stay by his side, even killed her true love and eventually killed her because she didn't say that she loved him.

the thing with the dad is that he said the only person I love is ruan xiwen which means that he doesn't love any of his children or his concubine, and the only person he loves he killed the whole family of, crippled, and kept in a wheelchair for 17 years
I’m not in favor of torture but this man needs more than the 12 punishments or whatever they called it. One…
he has to be the most evil one. poisoned his way out of every single possible situation and has the audacity to act like it's everybody else's fault. How does bro always find excuses for everything he does. And don't even get me started on when he was saying that he woke up in fear every night and then when he killed Pei Dafu, his only support fell. Like no shit Sherlock, what did you think was going to happen? When Zhuang Yuchi died, I was like "1 done, 3 to go. How does it feel, Zhuang Shiyang? You're going to lose everything!" I hate this guy with every fiber of my being.
1 down, three more to go! Yay! Also, her dad is so weird wtf. So because she was nice to you and gave you basic…
fr like i was already sobbing and then when he came and started going on abt "nobody loves me only you treated me with respect care and love" i was like this cannot be real. you obsessed over her, killed her whole family, forced her to marry you, framed her child for your murder, broke her legs, and kept her in a wheelchair for 17 years and it's all because she was a kind person? I HATE HIM MORE THAN HUMANLY POSSIBLE
I've seen spoilers that Episode 18 is when they 'part ways'. I think in the end of Episode 17, it's all acting because Zhuang Hanyan hates her father way too much to believe what he says, and I think that they'll split up because they discuss it and she gets angry because he didn't disclose it to her, because there have been clues so far that point to him being related to the Pei faction. However, I don't think that their separation is going to last that long.
Who exactly is pei dafu and why is his crime so serious?
Pei Dafu was a eunuch who engaged in money laundering and amassed an illegal fortune under the Emperor's nose. He was presumably executed in the presence of the Emperor for his crimes. He had a whole faction amongst the officials of the imperial court, called the Pei faction, and led a gang called the Zuohang Gang. Fu Yunxi, the Vice Minister of the Judicial Review was assigned to investigate this case and the remnants of his faction, and he discovered that Pei Dafu had an adopted son in the capital that has all of his wealth, as his residence is destitute in comparison to his large wealth. They're then trying to find the adopted son in the capital and reclaim the wealth back into the hands of the Emperor.
Pei Dafu was a eunuch amassed great amounts of wealth under the Emperor's nose, and from his faction being called…
Since the Zuohang Gang case was taking so long because Fu Yunxi wasn't submitting the evidence he found, the Emperor gave him a 30 day deadline otherwise he would lose his life. He suggested for his family to go on a holiday, then instigated another person to give Yuwen Chang'an information in line with Yuwen Chang'an and Ruan Xiwen's plan to take down Zhuang Shiyang. Yuwen Chang'an then submitted the evidence to the Emperor and took over the case. As Fu Yunxi's dad, Fu Pingcheng, who passed away, was from Yinan , Fu Yunxi was also taken into custody along with the families of other officials suspected of being Pei Dafu's adopted son, which means that he basically got away from consequences of his actions. I think that the most impressive thing about this plan is that Zhuang Hanyan was able to figure all of it from one clue.

I left some spoilers for Episode 11/12 in the comment below regarding the Zuohang Gang's case. I would advise you only read it after you've finished those episodes if you're confused by any of the events in them.
Can somebody help me understand the airing calendar from Thursday to Sunday? On MDL it says Thursday is 18-21, then Friday is 19-22, then Saturday is 23-24 and Sunday is 25-26. Is the information for Thursday and Friday inaccurate as the episodes overlap?
Honestly looking at just the preview I was disappointed by Fu Yunxi's deal proposal, but after seeing the context of the whole episode it is justified in my opinion. The lantern festival probably happened like 2-3 weeks ago and she told him there that she's not interested in love and feelings but rather safety and security in her marriage. He's offering her exactly that, catering to the desires that she's expressed to him. He can't read her mind and discover that she's realised that she's in love with him, when it literally happened in the past week after her mum asked her about it. I know people are wanting him to be honest about his feelings and do a love confession, but that is not what she has expressed that she wants and any response other than rejection would seem disingenuous to him. Just have a little bit of compassion for the his situation... We're the viewers, we know her inner feelings, but he is just a character, not an omniscient being.
the man who died from torture was Duke Shunping, Wu Youzhi, not Pei Dafu. Pei Dafu was probably executed in the presence of the Emperor himself for his crimes.
