I found it funny enough to be entertaining, but it kept me going back to Mr. Queen and failing to even compare to it. The actin was good for what it was, the ridiculousness around the flavor was probably what made it cringy-funny, the story didn’t hold though, it was cliché and took too many liberties on the tech/science side to make it believable. The ending was ok, I don’t care to know how it happened, so that didn’t bother me, but again, it was predictable.
I started watching because of the scene with Sonya at the table, I was not ready for how tender and emotional it was going to be. Really great job by all actors, the story has ups and downs but it holds in the substance. I was sad about them but happy for them. I really liked it.
I will say that the most beautiful thing about this drama is the cinematography, but also, can Lee Jae-wook be more stunning? Great story, well executed, great acting, not a slow moment (from my perspective), the fighting scenes A-amazing and the cinematography… seriously! I recommend to people who enjoy period dramas, quick fights with swords, and great aesthetics. I do have one big complaint tho… below in spoilers.
Beautiful and heartbreakingly realistic. I saw myself multiple times in the representation of Yumi’s emotions, i also saw friends, acquaintances, and people I don’t know, we are a bunch of screaming emotions running around our body and this was portrait amazingly in the drama. at the end of the day, this is about Yumi, about knowing herself and loving herself. I’ll start the second season tomorrow, but I’m hoping for her to find a life she can love by herself because there is no leading man, there’s only oneself.
I just finished it and the emotions are still emotioning but omg, amazing. I agree that not better than the first one, but rarely that happens. I’m happy with how they managed to keep the same intensity and suspense about what’s next, the first season was so good at it and I thought that would be the weak point, but it wasn’t, my heart was a knot during the fightings and I couldn’t stop crying with the news.
This production isn’t merely a drama, it’s a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. Not one person came out…
I completely agree with your perspective, this was a tragedy with characters that, if put in situations like this, would probably be very close to reality. There’s no winning when greed is at the front of everything.
I’m biased because PHS, I love him and everything he does. The drama is good, the ending felt a little heartbreaking for me but I read that angered a lot of people, I felt it fits the vibe of the whole thing. I like the acting a lot, and the camera work was spectacular on Huh Joon Ho. The story is slow, woth enough twists to make it interesting. I would recommend it only if you like power struggles and political dramas.
These past 2 years I’ve seen so many good dramas but this one, by far, will be the best of them all. Yes, Bo-gum and IU sell it, but you stay for the story. This is a portrait of life and poverty, of chance, luck, dreams, hopes, pain, and loss, I cannot explain how I could see so many people’s stories reflected, my own story reflected. It made me miss my dad, my grandma, the moments I got to spend with my mom and my siblings, feel grateful for these opportunities and moments, value what I cannot have anymore and what I can, as you could guess, I spend most episodes with tears in my eyes. I don’t have enough words to recommend it, everything is great in it, the story, screenplay, acting, directing, cinematography… everything.
Park Ji-hoon is remarkable in this amazing drama. I can’t explain how in between so much aggression there are so many emotional subtleties. It is a brilliantly written drama with beautiful characters, a lot of emotions, that will keep you at the border of your seat. Also, ugly crying warning.
I recommend to people who enjoy period dramas, quick fights with swords, and great aesthetics.
I do have one big complaint tho… below in spoilers.
