Even if the director said he is tired and needs break, the company can hire new director. They promised at the beginning that they will finish the story. And the prologue of episode 1 is set in 2025. This is the year when they want to release season 2 which takes place 8 years after season 1

There wasn't any info about cancelation. Please don't spread fake news. The director only said that he needs brake because he is tired which means two things, 1) that production of season 2 will start not this month but later 2) the production company will hire new director.
