I'm rating this show 8.5/10. It's good. I will admit The main couple had my heart for the first part because enemies to lovers (when I mean enemies they literally tortured each other) is just up my alley but I have to admit the princess who got some growth/ becoming crazy and the crazy emperor when this suprising secondary couple showed up, they stole the show for me, the chemistry was just š„ fire!! I wished the ending for them was better though š. The fights scene were great.
There's only 2 con about this series is that to me, from episode 20 to the last episode, I felt the pacing and the story slowed down a bit that I have to admit that I skipped some scene. And the romance between the fl and ml wasn't developed well, the transition to them falling in love felt weak but I guess it was saved by their chemistry that I decided to ignore it.
All in All, its a good watch. I have dropped a lot of series this year, both old and new because of this, I didn't bother to rate them. Fated Hearts was in Top 8 of c-dramas I plan to watch (I'm down to 5 currently). And this is first drama on the list that I was watched from beginning to end and I actually liked it.
Did anyone notice the details that Krist and Singto using their real baby/childhood pictures in the pilot.. ā¤ļø
Anyways, Krist and Singto are what I call actors who have connections in the industry because of how long they have been in it (more than 10 years). Singto called P'Aof about making The Ex-Morning and Krist called P'Waa about Write You Again. It's always a good feeling as a Peraya to see how their influence and control in what they work or act in. This is something that a lot of young actors and even those who have been in the entertainment industry for a long time could hardly dream of.
I checked this out Flirt Milk the series, it's true they got their marriage certificate framed on the wall but…
Thanks! The summary of Flirt Milk the series sounded cute but I was hesitant about it since there were mostly negative review but I will give it a chance since it's completed and the plot interests me š
Regarding the marriage discussion (below), Flirt Milk didn't show the wedding but did show the framed marriage…
I checked this out Flirt Milk the series, it's true they got their marriage certificate framed on the wall but we as the audience don't see them registering for it as there is no scene of it, and as you said no wedding either in the series.
Is it a good series though, would you recommend it?
ngl im not rlly interested in watching this bcuz i didnt like singto and krist together in the first place, only…
I personally enjoy it a lot and I wouldnāt lie, Iām biasedābut still, watch it ONLY IF you actually want to. Otherwise, thereās no point in forcing yourself IF you have NO interest at all.
No wait! wasn't there a few special episodes with weddings already? This is definitely not first
The way I had to recheck, š it's Cutie season 2, They did get married/wedding so it's the first wedding in Thai bL But they Never shown it being legalised like signing papers.
So The Ex-Morning is the first Legal marriage in Thai BL after the Equal Marriage Act Bill became Effective on January 23rd 2025 and the first thai BL that shows a whole scene of them registering and getting a marriage certificate.
Honestly, this is so awesome Cutie Pie was a hope for LGBTQ community that gay/queer marriage in Thailand would become legalise in the future And now The Ex-Morning shows that hope came true ā¤ļø
I heard that Tam & Phi's wedding is the first wedding in Thai BL history to happen after the legalization…
The Wedding in The Ex-Morning is the First Bl series in Thailand to have a full Legal marriage and features a scene where Tam and Phi both register and got their marriage certificate.
In other bls such as Cherry Magic, they had a wedding But it was Not legal, even Cutie Pie was more hopeful to audience that in the future that same-sex marriage would become legalise in Thailand since they are first BL series to have a wedding and there was no scene of it being legalise, it was more showing that it was normalise for same-sex marriage in the series which is a different portrayal. It would Not be Wandee Gooday which ended in July 2024 because the Equal Marriage Bill became Effective on January 23rd 2025 of this year. As for Ossan Love the wedding never proceeded to the main characters getting legally married ( only showing a wedding).
actually the first one is the wedding of Oye & Cher from WandeeGodday ... the news of the legalization popped…
No, It would Not be Wandee Gooday which ended in July 2024 because the Equal Marriage Bill became Effective on January 23rd 2025 of this year. As for Ossan Love the wedding never proceeded to them getting legally married.
I totally agree with you. The series is not bad but I don't feel the strength of the story here. I feel that even…
Literally when this series was going through script writing, Krist said this series is a gift for old fans who supported them since the beginning even when KS were apart. KristSingto had made it clear about this since the beginning. So yeah the Sotus and real life references were expected since they told us.
Rewatching: That wedding was beautiful and I loved end scene where we got to see Tam and Phi registered for their Marriage Certificate š„°
Also did anyone see the two cameo? P'Lit who the official person to register the marriage and Yui (KristSingto manager) who attended PhiTam wedding. Also there was another staff members in the wedding but I can't remember their name. Another comfort series added to the list for me!
Characters: The characters here are just so flawed and complex. Tam and Phi are beautifully written. Tamās character in the show is mostly mysteriousāyou canāt always tell how heās feeling because most of the time, he tries to act like he's Not bothered and calm when he's around Phi but that's just the surface, there are these moments where you know Tam is so worried about Phiās well-being. And then thereās Phi, who is such an expressive character. Like, he really wears his emotions and heart on his sleeve. Because of this, his character is more open to the audience, and you end up knowing more about Phi than Tam.
I really loved the character Paul because he highlighted how insecure Tam is when heās around. All of it stems from fearāTam thinks in his head that he might not be able to take care of Phi because heās not rich or ābetterā like Paul. He constantly compares himself to him (also this show highlights a Lot that Tam takes pride in taking care of Phi) šā¤ļø. Iām glad the show made that obvious, and the way Padthapi reacted was just awesome (that man is head-over-heels in love with you and they both always shows it!)
Letās talk about Yong, Nhudee, and Gaogieās relationship!
If TamPhi is your fluffy, sweet, mature exes who are obviously still in love with each other and the story shows why they end up togetherāthen Gaogie, Yong, and I guess Nhudeeās relationship in this story is the opposite of that. Donāt get me wrong, itās mature and healthy, but itās kinda messy, confusing, and complicated in a good way. It shows you why you may not get back with your ex, and how confusing it can be when you are working with them and not even sure if you still have the same feelings.
One of my favourite characters in the show is Rita, not only is the character charismatic, nosy, and funny but she's also give some mature and awesome advice that made enjoy her character a lot! ā¤ļø
Plot: The Ex-Morning is a story about exes who reunite and see if the flame is still there, with some unresolved emotions in the mix. The plot is simple, but thatās what makes it so refreshing. In Thai BLāand romance in generalāitās rare to see exes as the main leads, so this was different and honestly so needed. Itās a really sweet story that tugs on the emotional heartstrings.
Chemistry: Krist and Singto are literally the duo who first made BL popular in Thailand and Internationally, and they still have a strong fanbase because of that. They are the first BL couples in GMMTV to act in a BL series as the main characters. Their chemistry is fire. Theyāre SO comfortable with each other and clearly enjoy filming together. Like Iāve said before, there's a reason why KristSingto are known to have ādevilās chemistry.ā Their portrayal of Tam and Phi? Yeah, the chemistry is there and just that good.
Actors: If thereās one thing about this showāeveryone can act. From the male leads to the supporting characters, even the cat Solsay can act incredibly well (in my opinion, one of the best pet actors Iāve ever seen in a GMMTV BL). Now letās focus on the main actors. Singto and Krist are great at actingāno wonder theyāve won 30+ awards. The way Singto expresses his emotions through his eyes is amazing. And Krist? The way he controls his facial expressionsāyou can clearly tell what heās feeling. Honestly, when it comes to crying and sad scenes or any emotional scene, Krist is really good at portraying them.
Flashbacks: One of the best plot devices in this show. Props to the editing team for using that 2-second gray color effect when transitioning between the past and present. Not only that, but the stylist team also did such a good job making Krist and Singto look really youngālike, believably young university students.
The Promise: Back on November 5th in 2018, GMMTV made a promise to Peraya that we would get a KristSingto series. They told us that everything has its time and to trust them (they literally posted this on X and even called themselves Peraya!). Fast forward to 2025āthey kept that promise with The Ex-Morning, an original written series based on KristSingtoās real life and written just for them (just like SOTUS, but this time intentionally), and even better, they fulfilled so many fan requests on X. Fans wanted a lot of kisses? We got them in The Ex-Morning! We wanted the series to be available for everyone and not geoblocked in tons of countries? We got it. We wanted a weddingāsince fans didnāt get that in Our Skyy for Arthit and Kongpobās weddingāand guess what? In The Ex-Morning, we got PhiTamās wedding. We also wanted lots of fluffy, lovey-dovey moments and⦠yep, we got them too!
The Ending: Best. Ending. Ever. And BEST. WEDDING. EVER (finally I got a traditional Thailand Wedding) Iām so satisfied with this endingāI was rooting for them to get married and have a wedding and we got it! š„¹š
For me, this series is a solid 10/10 because it checked all the boxes of what I wanted as a fan. Seeing KristSingto acting together again just makes my heart so happy! I canāt wait for their next series next year 2026 šā¤ļø
I am enjoying this, adult plot (as in not teen problems and not X rated!), relationship seems natural and comfortable…
Now This is your opinion but saying Krist can't act that's just a lie on its own. Just say he's not your preference and that's that.
Krist literally has about 33-34 awards for his acting alone and was in top 10 for the longest while, I think he placed 4th-7th in Thailand for BL actors with the most award category (I'm sure his position has changed now).
As for the reason in Episode 7: It's based on real life but the only difference is that there was some communication š
Rewatching again Episode 9: I have to say there were some subtle signs that Paul had some shady ways:
1. Remember in episode 6: When Paul first got introduced in this episode where Padthapi was looking for sponsorship for his show, there was a question that kept bugging me: Why was Paul ONLY acknowledgeing and talking to Phi and ignoring Tam's Existence (Paul didn't even tell Tam hello or wave him even though both TamPhi came into his office at the SAME time, to me Paul came off as rude. Paul is a businessman but wasn't very professional of him and I get that Phi was his junior but it took Paul until they were out of his office to acknowledge Tam and even then Paul wasn't talking to Tam but was still conversing with Phi.
2. The beginning of Episode 7: Where Paul was telling Phi the reason about why Tam broke up with him. I always wanted to know why Paul told Phi this since it wasn't his business, Was it possible that Paul wanted to prevent Tam and Phi from being together or telling Phi to cause conflict between TamPhi so he (Paul) could have a chance to date Phi?
3. Episode 9: where Paul invited them to his hotel. First of all, I think it was stupid that Paul invited NEWS REPORTERS to his hotel where it was closely located to his illegal gambling spot but anyways, Paul clearly said in Episode 9 that he didn't tell them especially Phi that he was the owner of the hotel because he knows Phi would consider Tam's feelings and didn't want Tam to feel bad (meaning Paul KNOWS about Tam's insecurities when it comes to Paul's "achievements"), you can say Paul was just telling the truth since Yong was backed in a corner BUT I felt Paul was showing off a little to Phi and Tam for different reasons while also being friendly by telling them that he would give them a discount if they got married here. Also couldn't Paul had lie and say he knows the hotel owner or he's friends with them if he didn't want them to be uncomfortable as he said?
Anyways, these are more some things I noticed about Paul after writing somethings in my previous comment below before the end of episode 9 like it made me understand Paul a lot!
I'm rating this show 8.5/10. It's good.
