Eeek... very very mild to the point of bland...
The Japanese boyfriend was sooo polite and reserved and A PASSIVE COWARD that the story just lacked the fire.
They just never communicated. Then he wasnt smart enough to understand what she wanted. He thought she was lonely. It never occured to him that it is GOOD MANNERS to call his lady to tell her he will be late to work. It was such a disappointing character flaw that the drama never fixed.
