When Love Lingers in His Touch

To start it off, Love was, in fact, NOT in the Big City of Seoul.
Just kidding. It was indeed found in yourself.

Cliche as it may sound, the series really tackles and hits you with the reality of how queer people survive in a place that lacks the progress of LGBTQ+ awareness. It isn't just the portrayal of Go Yeong's journey through finding love; it's the representation it has shown that many could relate to. I might not want to watch this again, for seeing Go Yeong's journey made me reflect about the definition of love. It hurts, it really does, and no matter how much you want to avoid it, there is no escape from the pain that love could put you through.

Expectations, in many cases, would always yield the result you wouldn't want to face the most. It is painful, and with that pain, can you really ensure you are able to heal from it? Will the trauma of past loves come haunting on you, creeping on you with guilt and consequences you don't even want to face? It's hard to be in love and even when you are in love, there are doubts, there are uncertainties, there are numb days, monotonous days that would repeat over and over until you want it to end. Is it the end though? When you don't feel the warmness of your partner for how long, can you even consider it love? When arguments begins to rekindle and the scenario replays again and again, only for it to be left unresolved and unspoken? Is that love? Would you want to experience that kind of love?

In the end, you would only find the bits and pieces of the emotions you have felt throughout your relationship. The good things would want you to keep coming back for more, even from other people. You drown in the negative side of love, only for it to haunt you back when you least expect it to. His touch, the pleasure, the sweetness you always crave—is it worth it? For you to lose yourself, only to always find yourself running away from the truth. The truth that you may not even want to face the truth that you might be the problem.

Yourself becomes the problem, and even you don't want to accept that. Unless you face the biggest enemy, that is when you could truly say you are free. You accept that sometimes love is not about the pleasures of it, the happiness you get from it, but rather you understanding yourself. When the lingering taste of love comes back to you, you have to face it that it will always linger and, most of the time, it is impossible for it to comeback.

Learn to love yourself, and then, just then, you might be able to love someone else.

PS: I left a very important detail so that readers wouldn't be spoiled.

A Recipe of Randomness

While I did find the series to be entertaining, there were a lot of things that were happening. You have got to keep count on how many arcs present and time skips there was---especially in the end.

The main premise of the series was brilliant and unique! It is rare to see this type of genre played in the BL scene. However, the execution felt a bit lacking. Some scenes felt rushed, and some were too out of place, and some would be even better without them. We are watching a BL series, not an action series.

The whole ride felt like trying to sew pages of a manuscript that was blown by the wind. That was the main problem I had with the series, especially it only having 10 episodes in total. It would be understandable, or even better if it was a series with 20 or so episodes. Fitting it all in 10 does not really do justice to the plot.

In the visual FX aspect, they did okay. It is hard to have a higher budget on the animals, but given the circumstances, it was good but not great. On the other hand, the pairing of Ju and Sun was great! They had their chemistry, and their acting was on point. You love how quirky and Ju is, and the seriousness of Sun does not feel forced.

There are scenes I would love to see removed or changed, but I also understand why they were there in the first place.

Overall, a good series to watch when you're bored or when you have no more to watch.

How far can you pretend to be in love?

It is probably one of the most cliche storylines if you could ever think of something. A pretend love, and in the end, one actually gets caught in their own plan. I overlooked a lot of the flaw in the series because of how handsome Thomas is. I fr cannot take my eyes off him when he appears. However, the series does not only revolve around Thomas, but there is an actual plot in this series. Let's begin!

First and foremost, it's VERY dragging. There are a lot of scenes where you could think that "The plot would have still been the same if this scene was here or not." Next, some scenes seem so rushed. They did not even put any hints or foreshadowing regarding that subplot. the Girlfriend fiasco, it was so unnecessary! The plot would've stayed the same whether there was a girlfriend or not! It was so irrelevant! and it was something much like a last-minute idea.

Next, the MC's childish behavior. I don't have any problem regarding the MC's personality. The only thing that is cringe-worthy is the kiss on the head; that's my only problem with it.

The rushed side couples... SO, this is kind of a take from me, but I feel like the side couples were so unnecessary. I get it; there are others who want to be part of the romance but not to the point that it looks rushed? There was not enough buildup to the relationships, not enough information. It was all just a "misunderstanding" and I was "drunk" is so overplayed. They could easily make at least some essence in the side characters regarding their arch.

The Title. Your Sky... I hate it-- It is so predictable, and the I'm Your Sky and You're My Sea is actually so NOT it. There could have been a different, better title than Your Sky. The explanation they always do about the definition of "Sky" and "Sea" is so redundant. There is meaning to it, but no essence.

The Beach Scenes. Been there, done that; stop this, please. Many, I mean MANY BL's have at least an episode where they go to the beach, and I am so over this subplot actually. It's just so predictable and already overplayed.

Another thing that I find so needless is the fact that Fah and his friends run a Bar??? It was so not needed, but I know it was there so that there could be the idea of Fah being independent and someone who is reliable and mature.

On the other hand,

I am a sucker for handsome leads, and Thomas did an amazing job. I love the acting they have in this, and I do not find it off or forced. It seems natural, but also too calm. I would love to see the actors have more various emotions portrayed. The MC's family did an amazing job as well. They gave justice to the feeling of being hurt, being angry, and being forgiven. I could not bear myself to watch the confrontation scene between the MC and His Dad because it felt THAT realistic. It's like you are in the living room with them.

I also see the problems of other reviews about the maturity of the theme, but I do not see anything wrong with it. If they say it's fluff, then so be it. Relationships do not revolve around lust but rather the intimacy between the people. I love how after Fah gets accepted as the MC's boyfriend, they try to go all in but stop midway due to the MC not being ready. If you are looking for hardcore and mature BL, this is NOT for you. Do you see the poster? It's blue and cute! It's supposed to be like that.

All in all, this series is a good one-time thing. I do not see myself watching this series, but rather just reminiscing about it. If you're someone who is here for the 'kilig' or good-time series, this is it for you. It might be bland with no character at all, but it still manages to deliver what it is. A series about a fake relationship becoming true.

When You Try to Rewrite Destiny

While the reviews may find this series underwhelming, I, on the other hand, have found it quite enjoyable. The premise of the show starts by introducing the main issue of our character, that is, they go temporarily deaf when it rains, but with the exception of hearing their soulmate.

It was an intriguing and unique concept to say the least, and that has what gotten me hooked into it. The pace of the series was up and down, honestly. It was great in the beginning, but after the camping arc, that's where everything went rough. However, beyond those, that was when they introduced the greatest plot twist ever (no reveal to make it spoiler-free).

I do understand why some were hating during the last episodes, but I also do understand the reason why Tai was able to do that. While many were criticizing the main reason why Tai solely hated the soulmate idea, it was also the reason that made him understand it more. It was a full circle moment to him, especially after the talk. People go through different emotions, and given the fact that Tai only sees Fon as someone who is his brother's friend, you have got to go easy on him.

The start of the last episode made me bawl my eyes out, and that was when we finally closed most of our conflicts, but Tai has still got some on his plates. The ending, like the actual ending, does seem a bit rushed—I could understand why they have got to settle it that way. It was already proven that Tai, unconditionally, loves Patt, and given that we have seen the portrayal of their mannerisms when they are in love, there was no need for it to be repeated.

There was a lot that I did not mention in here, and it's because you, as a watcher, should be fully invested in. I came to say that when we are given the idea of forcing someone to love us, we really need the guts to try and face those ideas. It wasn't just a simple love story filled with 'I love you's—it was a story of trying to be your own person, with no criteria prior given to use for love. That is why La Pluie gives you a fresh new perspective on soulmates, because you get to question it, you get to defy it, you get to rewrite your own destiny.

A series totally worth wasting your time on. I spent two days finishing this series in 1.5x speed and in that time-frame, I could let this series become as a background noise.

Even though it isn't your typical love story due to its taboo highlights, it doesn't mean the story should be bad. The main plot can easily be grasped by normal viewers, but some subplots totally were not worth the time! Those minutes used for those plots that did not even let the story progress would've easily been scrapped. It was totally not related in any way or form to the development of the story. Furthermore, the ending and the beginning are so confusing; both didn't coincide with one another in any shape or form. There are a lot of holes in the series that were not expanded in as well.

Nevertheless, the acting of the two main actors is really well defined and was not awkward at all, but there are times that Pop's acting does not convey their feelings that well. Hero's actor, on the other hand, managed to surpass his acting each episode. The OST is one of the cutest and most calming instrumentals there is in any series I have watched.

Overall, it was a really good watch and fun as well, other than the things I have said above.

Confusion at its Finest

The Boy Next World was honestly, confusing to me at first. But I think that's what made me love it even more. We are given the premise of a boy who was able to travel to a different body, claiming he's from a parallel world. However, it is in fact—a lie?!

There is such depth in the plot that I had to scratch my first review. First of all, I would like to address the allegations on how this series "sucked," "lost its plot," or "trash." While many have their different opinions, I disagree with the harsh statements.

It is a series that tackles delusions, and the failure to confess your feelings. Its complexity might have made some of the viewers uncomfortable and disliked it, but rather, I found it quite interesting. The way Cir was a character that was not one-dimensional really added depth to it. He was someone who could get angry, sweet, and sad. The reveal in the end at how he was a coward really put the icing on the cake. It just shows how big of an impact someone could be in your life that you can go so far in admiring them. His reasons, well, might be "psychotic," and I quote from Cir himself, Phu disagreed with His statement. This assurance from Phu made Cir breathe a release of fresh air. Why? Because Phu was able to comprehend and understand what he was doing. When Cir found his light, his beacon, the only way he could express it was to protect him and admire him from afar and not get too close due to him being scared of what will happen when he gets close to Phu.

But at what moment did the fear of him getting close to Phu, disappear? When he was about to die.

The hospital scene turned the gears inside Cir. He saw it as an opportunity to be able to put on a facade in front of Phu as someone who is his lover in a parallel world. This was the narrative Cir has written, but unbeknownst to him, it is reality. While it is a narrative, it overlapped with the reality of the parallel worlds. Phu even believed in the end that the Cir after the 2nd car accident was not the Cir that he loved. Why? Because the parallel world does exist! It overlapped!

Why are people saying it was a wasted execution? Because it's confusion at its finest.

I love how this series transformed an existing idea, parallel worlds, and made it into something unique that TBNW has. It keeps the viewers at the edge of their seats and also makes them question whether the parallel worlds are existent or not. But it is! It's long been hinted that there is an actual parallel world, and in every world, Phu and Cir are already destined to meet and interact, but what's the catch? Every parallel world so far will end in tragedy. But the series' world defied those odds, creating the first successful world where they both got to live their happily ever after.

There are a lot of things I haven't mentioned to make it not have that much spoiler.

To conclude, this series is one that did not disappoint me at all. The way they were able to weave the storylines and make me confused was such a fun journey. Love truly knows no boundary, literally, because even love—finds you even in parallel worlds.
