Guess they just wanted to breeze through the donghua part since the live adaptation’s pretty spot on, and anyone who’s seen the donghua already knows what’s coming.
Is it required to watch dashing youth to understand the story
Not necessary, but if you watch Dashing Youth and its sequel The Blood of Youth, along with Blood River, you’ve basically covered the entire storyline from the same universe , they all connect and complete the full picture.
How many years after Dashing Youth does Blood River take place? 11?And Baili Dong Jun (played by Neo Hou in DY)…
Dark River and Dashing Youth actually happen around the same time , Su Muyu’s cameo in Dashing Youth shows that the Dark River Sect already existed then. So yeah, both stories run parallel, just focusing on different characters and sides of the same timeline.
When Bei Hai’s wife said to protect her kids, I had a feeling Yesha was gonna be XBM’s brother. I also kept thinking about why TS was smiling before he died and he was such a good martial artist, so why didn’t he try to escape? Finding out he was Yesha was already a good twist, but the real shock for me was the antidote to the Swift Wind Pill. And honestly, I liked TS—even though he was a villain, he wasn’t portrayed as some dumb bad guy. I seriously liked his whole aura. The ratings for this drama are way too low—it totally deserves way more love.
I really liked the movie — it portrayed a range of characters and the different stages of psychological struggles so well. It's more of a psychological thriller than horror or fantasy, and honestly, it deserves a much higher rating than it currently has.
I watched this drama while it was airing and just rewatched it again—yeah, I’m a big fan of DYX. I saw a bunch of comments saying the male lead was just simping, but honestly? He was scary from start to finish—he just had a soft spot for her. And isn’t that what love is like? You can’t expect him to be cold to the one he loves. The female lead was a bit annoying at times, but she was funny and honestly, she played her role really well. The storyline was solid, and the whole cast did an amazing job.
