It Definitely Aimed Big & Delivered Quite A Bit Except For The Weird VFX Color & Action Scenes
Positive Points
1. This drama had an excellent cast, at least in terms of the 2 main leads. Both Dylan & Esther has nailed their roles. Though it was quite a bit of a challenge for me to get used to her baby voice in the first episode. The FL's character and her baby voice were a huge turn off for me. But as I watched the first few episodes, it became alright as, I realized that Esther was the perfect actress to play this role. She was required to behave like this according to the story. Both Dylan and Esther had nice chemistry. I liked Esther more in her serious Goddess role compared to her role as the innocent little orchid.
2. There is no match of this drama with the original novel. But it is alright as the drama was quite a bit more colorful. There was good balance of everything in the story. Though the story was nothing special but it was not bad either. The cinematography was nice & the OST was good.
Negative Points
1. I really did not like the special effects much. The color felt quite a bit off to me. Most of the action scenes looked somewhat funny. The weird slow motion fights did not sit well with me. The special effects at some places looked so weird and hazy solely due to the strange choice of color. For a Xianxia drama, special effect plays a key role so I was quite disappointed in that department.
2. The character development was quite bland except for the 2 main leads and the main antagonist. The 2ML's character was probably the most boring to me. All the characters are strange as they all hate each other due to their past animosity. All of them do weird inhuman things for their enemy but according to both parties they themselves are the righterious while the other party is the one who is problematic. At least write some proper dynamics. That heavenly lord with an enemy lover is the most weird one and I have no idea how he hid about his lover and the origin of his daughter. The ML's little brother is the one with mood swings. Sometimes he is good with his to be sister in law (FL) but later though he knew his brother was helplessly sacrificing his lover he was so happy & cruel to the FL (It was not an act). I thought he had accepted her.
3. What was even that ending? Although I am grateful that they did not give the viewers a sad ending, but it was not good either. The ending seemed vague and could have been better. I did not like the rushed ending at all. What it would have taken to give the viewers a proper wedding after all those angst?
Overall, this drama is a very good watch if you can ignore those strange vfx and action scenes.
