Tbh same I felt nothing watching this but i felt guilty for not feeling what the drama is trying to make me feel, benjamin crying is the most convincing to me, I felt like he is into the character and the suffering but the leads emotions feels like acting to me, esp the ml even his tears look like eye drops bcs his eyes are empty there is no emotions inside them, everything feels staged, it is also the problem of the the director, his qork is so random, for example the scene when the ml saved the kid from the bomb that was attached to him, the ml woke up immediately smiling again after 1s of feeling dizzy but the kid wasn't even in the frame, and he was the main character of that scene, the director cuts are in the middle of the scenes when the audience is trying to feel connected to what is happening.

I can't really focus on the drama, first I think there is a problem with the editing and the production, the scenes do not match you can feel that they are moving from one scene to another and somehow they failed to connect them together if you get what I mean, also the ml not having any reaction to anything but smiling, it might be scripted but it make me feel like he is indeed just acting, I don't feel like he can act naturally, his acting feels so fake, you can tell that he is trying to match the character but he doesn't know his character very well, it's like they told him that the character is a nice guy and he thought that smiling is te only thing that will make him a nice guy.
After finishing the first 6 eps I will say that you have to turn off your brain watching this bcs some things just don't make sense, first those people of that country where there is terror, doesn't look like their mother tongue is eng, but somehow they all speak eng, the only time the old woman spoke the native language it was dubbed that you cannot tell what language she is speaking the mouth doesn't match the voice. Benjamin and jiang lin are the only ones who dont sound weird speaking eng. The ml facial expression are not it, you can't tell what he is feeling, all he does is smiling for 6 eps, ive never liked his acting I gave this a chance bcs of my girl liang jie, and bcs this is a veeeeeeery common trope like we get it at least once a year, it won't be any speacial, it's all about the way they tell the story and so far they are not doing any great unusual work, i won't drop it for now bcs it's too early but ik I will drop it anytime soon. Also douban is mostly chinese people so their ratings are not only based on the story, it's also about the cultural background, the language, the acting .... not just like here it's so biased, and most peole care about the visual more than the actual drama, yk that it's so hard for drama of not very famous ppl to shine but it's not the case in china, i've seen so many dramas with less familiar faces getting very hight rating bcs they are indeed good

Not really, if you know, more than 6 in douban means that the drama is not that bad, if it's started with 7.8 or more that means it's really good, and so far i haven't seen a good drama with less than 6, it's only the mid dramas, the problem is idol actors fans can't accept that those dramas are just okay not deserving that high rating, and it has nothing to do with their favs, it just means that the drama is not that interesting.

Bailu is not doing really well recently, her acting in forever and ever and one and only is the best for me, maybe playing a red flag is not her thing, bcs she was the weakest in only for love, tteotm (one of my favs) and moonlight mystique. Zhao lusi acting looks like acting, she looks like she is acting for the camera, she needs to be more aware of the fact that acting is about being real not over doing everything to prove that you can act... My girl ju jingyi she needs to focus on acting more than being pretty ik she can do better, hope it was her company's fault bcs with that face she would be on top if she improves.... Just finished the 1st 3 eps and damn that's how you make a villain in dramas, the scene when he was telling his ppl that he love them was truly something only a psychopath can do, the acting is incredible, the director said that zhao jinmai is the best actress of her generation and watching this proves it. The moment she was screaming in silence made me cry bcs I can relate to it. 14 eps is a great decision, i see that they want to go directly to the point with no unnecessary events which really amazing. I can't wait for the coming eps bcs I saw some clips of jinmai trying to escape and It was really good, her,the kidnappers, the police, her family and the girls performed really well
