A Slow Burn That Overstayed Its Welcome
Real rating 7.8/10, but I rounded up.Despite popular belief...I didn't like it. I had high hopes for this show. I kept getting this show recommended to me on Instagram and was excited. This was a real slow burn. The first 20 episodes I watched quick and caught up to the release dates. But then it was hard to pick back up.
Characters:
The main ML (Yu Sen) is honestly too perfect. He’s kind, talented, patient, emotionally mature… basically flawless. While that might sound appealing, it made his character feel a bit unrealistic and flat. On top of that, he talks a lot...long speeches, constant explaining, which started to drag and made some scenes feel way longer than necessary.
The FL (Xi Guang) was also a weak point. She had basically two emotions throughout the entire drama. She clearly loved attention, and her forced, exaggerated laugh made it painfully obvious when she was “laughing.” Instead of feeling natural or charming, it became distracting and repetitive.
What really hurts is the second male lead (Zhuang Xu). He could’ve made the story so much better. There was real potential for a stronger emotional arc or even a more compelling love triangle, but instead he was dragged along and made almost useless. He deserved far more depth and purpose. We just followed him way too long. I get that it’s meant to be “realistic”—people don’t always confess their feelings ,but here it felt frustrating and unnecessary rather than meaningful.
Plot:
One of the biggest problems was the amount of business talk. There was so much focus on work, meetings, and professional conversations that the drama got genuinely boring at times. It took away from the emotional build-up and made the pacing feel slow and dry.
The misunderstanding between the main leads was another major issue. It felt unnecessary and honestly kind of stupid. The conflict dragged on far too long and could’ve been solved with one proper conversation.
And then there’s the romance... or lack of it. There was barely any skin ship. Certain scenes had great buildup, that they could’ve kissed and actually made it satisfying, but instead we just get… hugging. It felt boring and underwhelming, especially for a drama that’s supposed to focus on romance.
Also they had like no friends. Only friends FL had were from College and they just sucked. Whenever she saw them, she was always upset, they weren't nice. The friends she had at work were just alright. Also there was just unnecessary family problems. But I did like the relationship with the FL and her cousin and her family.
The ending itself was good and emotionally satisfying, even if some choices didn’t make sense. I honestly didn’t understand why the second male lead was at the airport, ugh it just felt unnecessary, but I did love that ML and the FL still had a good, healthy relationship without bitterness. The way the ML lead yearned for her when she came back was sweet, and their dynamic in the final moments was cute, though it really could’ve been shown more. That said, the show absolutely could’ve ended about seven episodes earlier, because by the time it wrapped up, it felt like it had already overstayed its welcome.
ALSOOO.. The OST was great but too overused lol.
Overall, Shine On Me had a solid foundation and some realistic ideas about love and hesitation, but it leaned too heavily on business talks, and played the romance way too safe. With better pacing, more chemistry, and stronger use of the second lead in beginning episodes, it honestly could’ve been so good.
Final verdict: enjoyable but frustrating. Decent drama, just not very exciting.

Shockingly enjoyed
damn. I shockingly really enjoyed this show. This show is 80% thriller with 20% romance in the roots. Lots of jaw dropping moments and really has you engaged. The acting of Kim Youngdae is flawless with seamless transition of each version of him, and him slowing falling for her in the host body. Last Episode made me cry so much. If you don’t enjoy stories of 1500 y/o spirts are falling in love with 30 year olds, and if you love good kisses, not really for you.The ending explains the title of the show and I loved the meaning. Though I wish the ending stopped at a part that made more sense like ending the show mid-way of the last episode would’ve been better imo. Even skipping the rest they shot and keeping the last 5 mins, would’ve been perfect for me.

WOWW✨!!! Unique, Fresh and Interesting! Best newer drama i’ve seen in a while!!
Wow! I highly enjoyed my time watching Twinkling Watermelon and will watch again, and definitely recommend you do too… I kept seeing how good this show was and decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint. This is definitely one of my highest rated dramas. This show had a very good and unique theme. There was a good balance of humor, questions, love and drama. I love how this show isn’t hyper focused on the romance. It shows the relationship between Lee Chan and Eun Gyeol , father and son. It shows that our parents were kids once too and went through thier own hardships. I also just enjoyed them simple and innocent love between the main leads. It seemed to be very natural and the actors did amazing !The concept is very intriguing… though one of the parts it lacks is, the ending.Though there is so many unanswered questions and situations left to the imagination. I wish they dove deeper into .**** THIS MAY BE SPOILER**.. One of the many questions I have is… I don’t understand how any of the friends or parents when getting older don’t remember or even see that Eun Gyeoul is the guy that help not only started the band, helped you learn sign language, (dad) the person you saved and got into the accident saving; you had a father son relationship with, and (mom) who literally helped you from getting abused .
But i try not get too focused on plot holes since it ruins the experience. That’s common with time traveling drama. BUT besides that I highly enjoyed my time watching Twinkling Watermelon and will watch again, and definitely recommend you do too…

Nostalgic Memories
Wow! This show is really good. It is a perfect example of childhood and nostalgia. You feel you are living with the characters going through life with them while understanding this is the best times of there lives. The warm lighting gives that nostalgic feel, the characters are relatable, as they are ordinary and all go through different phases of growing all going through there own problems. This shows gives me the feeling of this is a memory, live in the moment and enjoy life. The characters have a great dynamic (QiQi is a little annoying and indecisive lol) .Was this review helpful to you?
I Was Watching While “I” Was Sleeping
Real Rating : 8.3Overview
While You Were Sleeping started off kinda strong for me. Rhe concept was unique and interesting, and I was genuinely pulled in by the idea of dreaming about future events. The early episodes felt fun, fresh, and a little suspenseful. However, as the show went on, I found myself getting bored and less invested. While the overall concept stayed cool, the execution started to feel repetitive and unrealistic at times. It’s one of those dramas where the idea is better than how it plays out over time.
Characters:
The main female lead, Nam Hong-joo (Bae Suzy), honestly got a bit frustrating. She’s constantly involving herself in dangerous situations, even when she knows the consequences. At some point it stops feeling brave and just feels reckless. Also, she’s a reporter, but she’s doing a lot of investigating that feels way beyond what her role should realistically be—maybe that’s more common in K-dramas, but it didn’t fully work for me.
The male lead, Jung Jae-chan (Lee Jong Suk), had moments where he felt caring and invested, but other times his expressions made it seem like he was just annoyed with her. That inconsistency made their relationship feel a little off.
The second lead, Han Woo-tak (Jung Hae-In), was actually one of my favorites. I thought his character was really interesting, especially with the reveal that he’s colorblind—it was a unique detail that added depth, and I liked how it wasn’t immediately obvious. He brought a softer, more grounded energy compared to the chaos around him. Though i don’t understand why he sees the future in his dreams? What is his connection? I dont know if I missed it. I also get that the rules are stricter in Korea and dont knoe if its a general rule. But him being colorblind was kinda funny, everyone was crying as if it was a bigger reason.
Plot:
The plot had a strong foundation, especially with the backstory connecting their childhoods and the idea that the brother of their fathers’ killer was always present. That part was intriguing and added emotional weight.
But what I didnt why they were constantly they were being targeted. I understand the reasoning within the story, but it started to feel unrealistic; there were just too many extreme situations (getting drugged, constantly being in danger, etc.). It felt like something dramatic was always happening just for the sake of tension.
One thing I did appreciate was the idea that you can’t save everyone and that even with good intentions, people make mistakes. That added a more realistic emotional layer, even if the actual events were over-the-top.
Also, the romance felt inconsistent. Sometimes their connection felt real, and other times it didn’t land at all. The ending kiss, in particular, felt awkward and not very natural, which was disappointing after everything built up.
Final Thoughts;
Overall, While You Were Sleeping had a really interesting concept and a strong start, but it didn’t fully hold my attention all the way through. It had some great character moments and emotional ideas, but the unrealistic situations and uneven character dynamics made it harder to stay fully invested.

Charming, Nostalgic, and Sweet: A K-Drama from Mean to Heartwarming
Rating: 8.7Overall Story: I really enjoyed Cinderella and the Four Knights. The show has a nostalgic 2010s K-drama vibe that immediately drew me in. I loved the Cinderella-inspired concept—though a little unrealistic at times, it worked surprisingly well within the story’s world.
Story/Plot: The premise of Eun Ha-won being picked off the street to be Kang Hyun-min’s fake fiancée might not make much sense in real life, but the way the show introduced her into the household made it feel believable. The pacing and flow of the story were smooth, and the narrative kept me engaged from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed how the relationships developed; watching the cousins go from being cold and mean to gradually opening up and connecting with her felt natural and satisfying.
Characters: One of the best parts was seeing Eun Ha-won interact with the three cousins. The drunken kiss between Eun Ha-won and Kang Hyun-min was probably one of the most authentic and well-executed kisses I’ve seen in a K-drama.
I also liked how Kang Seo-woo, the youngest cousin, really adored her. It wasn’t central to the plot, but it added a sweet, innocent kind of love that felt genuine.
On the other hand, the back-and-forth with the second female lead, Jo Hye-ji, was a bit annoying and pushy at times. though it did make sense with her twin brother plot.. but also just annoying like dude could’ve came to a conclusion earlier.
The bitchass stepmother and stepsister were incredibly frustrating to watch; they were just so over-the-top and irritating. Eun Ha-won’s father was ridiculous too; even though he had a apologized and kindof redeemed , the unnecessary part where he didn’t think she was his own daughter felt absurd and hard to take seriously, it had no part of the story…
Though I do get it is a Cinderella story and does make sense for that plot. I just felt like it was ridiculous.

Weird and Not Fun: In all honesty I hated it, but it had potential
Rating: 7.2I just finished Can This Love Be Translated, and not too good. People we’re raving about this one and I did not see why… This one was weirder than I expected. I thought it’d be your typical Korean-Japanese romance drama , but it was totally different. *May contain minimum spoilers*
Story:
The concept of a Korean girl falling for a Korean translator was interesting and had potential. But here’s the thing: she has severe DID ( some type of multiple personality disorder with two personalities), and honestly, they should’ve given a heads-up about that. Honestly, it mostly felt like she was possessed — not really realistic and kind of distracting.
What I also found really unnecessary was the 1000 times they had miscommunications; like if you like him, you just like him, you had the chance to be with him. Why are you making it hard for yourself? I do understand it’s because the other personality is there, but on both ends, the ML and FL just made a difficult. I guess it’s supposed to be the struggles of being with someone who has mental and internal struggles, but I felt like if ML just took the bull by a horns in the beginning, it wouldn’t have happened, but also then it wouldn’t have been a show… So I just don’t think I liked the show or any show that’s like that for that matter.
The show was definitely marketed as a romance and did not mention any of the dark stuff they had in the show. I felt a bit played.
Watching it blind, some scenes were more frustrating than fun — kind of annoying, to be honest.
Characters:
I get that her “other” personality ( Do RaMi) was supposed to act like a devil on her shoulder, showing her childhood trauma and stopping her from falling in love. In theory, that could’ve been cool, but it just made parts of the show harder to watch and didn’t really add anything worthwhile.
One thing I did like was Joo Ho‑jin part in that he actually acknowledged Mu‑hee’s struggles instead of treating her different personality ( Do RaMi) like a joke and didn’t let her be in control of Mu-hee, I appreciated how seriously he took both parts of her rather than dismissing her or just laughing it off. He really stuck to the end.
A part that was kind of unrealistic was The Japanese guy falls for her even though they don’t speak the same language. He even learns Korean, which was kind of cute, but she didn’t make any effort to learn Japanese, and I get that’s her character, but it still felt weird and unrealistic.
Overall, it could’ve been a fresh, fun romance, but it ended up messy and more frustrating than enjoyable. Honestly, I wouldn’t really recommend it.

19 Lives Later… Here’s What I Think (⭐️8.75)
Rating: 8.75I just finished See You in My 19th Life, and honestly… it was pretty good. Good way to finish my 50th drama!!
Overall Story:
The concept is definitely interesting, but also kind of weird if you think about it too hard. She first knew him when they were kids (she was younger and he was already in early high school), and now in the present she’s technically lived like 1000 years but is falling for a 25-year-old. It’s not exactly bad , just one of those things that makes you pause for a second.
I did really like how some of the big moments were handled though. It felt more mature than I expected.
Actors:
Shin Hye‑sun was great , she had really solid acting and clear emotion, and her crying scenes were especially strong. She made it easy to connect with her character, even when some parts of the story felt a little off. That said, she was a little annoying at times. The way she overly emphasized her reaction to eating food, lol it felt a bit extra. She was also pretty pushy at times, especially with how forward she was about her feelings, which sometimes felt a little intense even though the feelings were mutual. It didn’t ruin the show, but it kept it from being a favorite for me. Also, One unnecessary part that has not too much significance to this review, was her dancing lol. I understand her dancing was from her past life, but I felt like it was so stupid… like no one does that.
Also really liked Ahn Bo-hyun in this. He played the vulnerability so well. The way he showed his emotions felt really natural, and his acting made the romance feel warm and genuine, like he was actually in love rather than just playing it up for the camera.
Story
What I did love was how they brought in pieces from her past lives. Seeing those connections slowly come together in the present timeline was probably the strongest part of the show. The whole idea of carrying memories and emotions across lifetimes is such a cool concept.
Overall, it was a solid watch. Not my absolute favorite, but definitely interesting and worth checking out if you like romance with a fantasy twist.
*** Spoiler ***
Misconceptions:
The finale was confusing the "reset" is logically messy because it doesn't explain what her 20+ years of 19th-life memories were replaced with, but the show frames it as a "fresh start" where her loved ones now have the chance to chase her. So when she thinks of her being raised, does she not thing.., “wait who raised me” ..?? I don’t know I didn’t think that was necessary.

There is better in this genre
This was an easy show to get into, and has to be one of my favorite genres (HS - childhood Friends to College lovers ). Similar to my fav shows such as Go Ahead and Always Home (Our Secretis a good watch but Watch these instead). Main leads are okay, I like Chen Zhe Yuan (Si Yue) , he was good in Hidden Love. The character he plays was a basic one, Male childhood friend who is really smart and parents love. The FL Rainbow Xu (Ding Xian) I have never seen before but she was just good. She got kind of annoying in college. Very persistent and just annoying. I enjoyed the side couple as well but it did turn annoying and unreasonable at times.I wish the time in High School was shortened or did something else to the plot besides just establishing there friendship. We understand that she likes him but not until college, which she is suddenly very adamant about it . College wasn’t so much rushed but the pacing was so-so. I wish there was more tension within the main leads as well. Nearly not enough kisses as there could’ve been. It just fell flat. I did enjoy it though but could’ve enjoyed it more if there was consistency and tension. Was this review helpful to you?

OverHyped But Still Sad
I had high hopes for this show. The story was a sad story about 2 ill-fated individuals. Personally the main girl is annoying and very aggravating. Any scene with the man she was supposed to marry was hard not to skip, seemed like it had no point of the story. The mafia chasing them and them on a random island was very unrealistic. I understand the ML was conflicted on whether to be with the FL or not, but come on, it’s very toxic and unnecessary ….I won’t lie I did cry many times such as the dad story line, thier ill fated love story and the end obviously , you build a connection with the ML and feel bad for the things he had to grow through just in order to grow up with his family life and living a dangerous life. I also don’t understand when he met the man who raised him and why all of a sudden he wanted to see him. Also he like almost dies the first time and then is better all of a sudden…Maybe I didn’t pay attention enough, but personally it was very overhyped and unrealistic.

I’m sorry… but this was a hard Watch
This was honestly a hard watch. The show had potential—I usually love slice-of-life, found-family dramas like Go Ahead, Always Home, etc. so I went in expecting something warm, nostalgic, and comforting (which it did give). But instead, I found myself constantly putting it down because something just didn’t click. The biggest issue for me was the female lead. I’m not sure if it was the way she was written or the performance itself, but she came across as genuinely insufferable at times. It felt like the show wanted her to be this strong, determined girl, but she often ended up feeling , loud, very annoying and whiny, just exhausting.
Both leads’ voices really didn’t really work for me. It became a real effort to sit through scenes.
Even though the plot had the bones of something nostalgic and heartfelt, it never fully delivered. I kept waiting to feel connected to the story or to the friend group, but no. The show kind of dragged in places, too, so I found myself dropping it multiple times. Honestly, the only reason I finished it was because I hate leaving dramas unfinished.
Overall, this drama wasn’t for me. It had the elements of something I should have loved, but the execution made it a really tough watch

Love Ambition: From Lies to Love
Love AmbitionWow. This show has the perfect balance of love, heartbreak, drama, and comedy. The main actor, Willan Chen, I have not seen anywhere and I think he is a pretty good actor. Though after finding out the 13 year age gap , I was concerned it would be weird but his character, Shen Hao Ming, was executed well . He is good at showing diversion of emotions and makes you believe what he portrays . I also have never seen Zhao Lu Si, play a “sneaky and deceiving” role, but I honestly enjoyed it. The plot was great, thought a bit confusing if you aren’t paying attention well. To be honest I did stop watching half way through, but the thought of not finishing another show got to me and I’m really glad that I didn’t go back to finish it. When you feel the show getting a little boring, they bring you back in with tension and more drama. Some characters are annoying but they are just playing the part really well since that’s the point. I also felt that some parts of the story was inconsistent. Overall, It’s been a while since I liked a Chinese show, but this one won me over and this show was not hard to get into. 9/10
